Chapter One: the setting "DANELLE," a voice shouted my name from the upstairs. A mirror I passed reflected I and I stared.
I wasn't at all what you might call pretty. I was thin, too thin from being under fed. Dark black hair was covered in dirt and other things I don't even want to finish and of course to reflect my under care of looks my cloths were a worn out tee shirt from good will along with pants that looked as though they couldn't stand another wash. Probably my most likeable feature was my eyes. A brilliant dark blue that although at times they might look black but when the sun shines just right they look as bright as the summer sky. Shuddering I continued down the hall.
"GET YOUR LAZY ARSE UP HERE, YOU LITTLE INGRATE!"
I ran stumbling on the stairs clutching a stitch in my side. "Finally you got here." A woman lay on the bed. Chocolate wrappers strewed everywhere. She was laying there, flab hanging over the bed petting the most vile animal I have ever seen Manu her pet weasel. She and that rat had to be the most disgusting piece of shit ever walked, or in this case wobbled the face of the earth.
"Yes Auntie May. What ever do you want with a lowly servant?" I said bowing my head. She might suppose it was a sign of respect but it was because I couldn't stand the way she looked.
"Head up, girl and listen." Her voice was filled with malice "I've raised your little miserable body since you were six and this all the thanks I get is a miserable dope who cant even clean a floor properly? Well, why are you standing there? CLEAN IT NOW! And I also want you to get the groceries. The list is on the counter. If you even think of wasting a dime of mine on your scrawny little body you'll be kicked out of here so fast it will make your head spin. DID I MAKE MY SELF PERFECTLY CLEAR?" As I gave a slight nod of my head she shouted "THAN GET TO IT!"
I scurried out of the room toward the kitchen, which was an absolute pig sty because of her. Like her room chocolate wrappers littered the floor. Food was splattered everywhere which is probably why little rat were attracted here. I began to work on the floor first picking up rats and wrappers alike. The rats went outside and the wrappers in the trash of course. Sweet little rats they were my only friends. I picked up a little white one and placed it on the counter talking to it all the while as though it could talk back. That is what happens when you are too lonely for too long.
Under a pile of about one hundred chocolate wrappers in the corner was a list probably for shopping. I groaned looking down the list realizing that Auntie May must be going on a diet. Although she seriously needed it I still hated it. Every time they didn't work and my food rations seemed to go from to small to even smaller. I decided that if I worked on this job much longer I wouldn't be able to walk the ten miles to the nearest grocery store before it close so I set off on my epic adventure.
