Robin is put in charge of leading her first case, while she and Strike might have to admit that their partnership is becoming more than just detective work.

Strike is at a loss what to do about Robin, but doggedly tries to keep his private detective business going. One day, while on surveillance for one of his clients, he loses his quarry, but meets a strange man with a blue box who calls himself the Doctor. (Warning: Contains Spoilers.
