Harry Potter and the Phoenix's Spell
Chapter 1
It was an insanely hot day as the sun rose to high noon, far above the square houses of Privit Drive. But sitting in his room, Harry Potter was cool, due to the air conditioner that Uncle Vernon had installed. Harry suspected that the reason for this deed was the fact that Uncle Vernon had won 50 grand in the lottery, as well as the end as the previous school year.
Harry sighed. He had nothing to do. He had been thinking of Sirius all day. Lifting himself up, Harry walked to the corner of his room. He flipped a light switch on the wall. His new computer whirred to life. The screen flickered. "You've got mail" flashed onscreen. He clicked the mailbox icon. The screen flashed Ddursley@aol.com, and Hgranger@aol.com. Harry deleted the message, and opened the one from Hermione.
Dear Harry,
How are you? Mum and dad say "Hi" and they said that maybe you can come during the last month of the holidays. I think it's a great idea. Have you heard from Ron? I hope that Malfoy hasn't locked him in the spider room at the Magical Menagerie. Hope to see you soon! Dad's fixing the power lines, so I have to go.
See you soon! From, Hermione
Harry thought that this was a strangely short letter from Hermione, but the power lines were being fixed. Harry replied.
Uncle Vernon had bought Harry a computer after winning the lottery. Harry's screen flashed. "Incoming e-mail from DumbleDude@aol.com has a file attachment. Scan and download attachment?" Harry clicked on the "Yes" button. The e-mail opened. The screen showed an abstract multicolor photo of Dumbledore in his office. Harry had to laugh. But the e-mail turned his laughs of joy into tears of joy.
