AN: This is my third Carter/Dana story. The first two were After the Battle
and Snow Day. After this I have two more.
Dana Mitchell walked into the party with her friend and fellow Power Ranger Kelsey. It just ten minutes the countdown for the New Year would begin. All in all it had been one interesting year.
She had become a Power Ranger, had gotten her brother back, whom she had believed to have been killed in a car wreck, and fought the forces of evil everyday.
If only my friends could see me now. There was also one other thing, namely one person who had also made this year quite interesting. Carter Grayson.
She looked around and soon found him with Joel, Chad, and some other of the base crew laughing about something, whatever it was it must've been funny the way they were laughing.
Carter intrigued her but she didn't know why. He was handsome and in battle you could always count on him, but underneath he had a strange intensity to be the best he could be, but it only added to his appeal.
But then all the females on the base had a crush on him and some tried to get his attention but he had no real girlfriend as far as she knew. Not that it's any of my business anyway.
"Hey Kelsey" the shout came from Chad as both he and Carter walked up to both of them.
"Hey Chad I got to talk to you for a little bit" Kelsey led Chad away, but turned back to Dana and winked.
Now what was that supposed to mean? Dana wondered to herself.
She looked at Carter, "long day how's your head?"
"Only a mild concussion I thought I got out of the way in time but I guess Vypra was quicker."
"Must've been an off day for you" Ryan remarked as he came near them.
Dana smiled at her brother glad to finally have him back, it had been a great and interesting year, to bad she had no one to share it with. "Well I have someone I need to talk to" Ryan quickly walked off but Dana could swear he winked at them both.
Just then the countdown began backwards from the count of ten as Dana and Carter looked at each other, just as someone said the word one, Dana gasped as Carter kissed her.
It surprised her even though it was gentle and short. Then he lifted his head back up, "happy New Year Dana."
"Um you to" she replied, still tongue tied and somewhat befuddled. "Um was that just because it was New Year's Eve?"
"It's now New Year's day" he replied smiling.
"Carter I get that"
"Meet me in the hall in twenty minutes and we can talk further, I have something I need to tell you."
"Ok deal" she replied as he walked out first.
She talked to some of her other friends and left three minutes before the twenty were up, Kelsey looked at her and Dana gave a big smile. This New Year already held a promising start.
Kelsey, Chad, and Ryan looked at each other and smiled their little scheme of leaving Carter and Dana alone together had been successful. Joel had been in on it but was to busy chasing after the object of his desire to see their scheme of getting Carter and Dana together actually work.
