Richard Clayton sat and watched Jane help John to calm during the pre-trial.
He knew he had lost, that he had no chance now of getting John back. He had
allowed his greed to overshadow his love and now he had lost his nephew.
As the Judge ruled, Richard stood and made his exit.
He began to think of the Thanksgiving holiday. It would be different this year,
now that his nephew was alive, but he would still be alone.
'Alone I shall stay.' He thought as he watched John walk away, Jane by his side
as Kathleen waited.
