*~*~
A man stood at the iron gates. He raised his head to read its eerie, sorrow words. In one swift motion, he passed the gates and began to walk on the snow covered stone path. The winter night air was crisp, the wind was raw and the snow crunched under his feet.
He continued to walk down the path, his head hung low. In his hands he clutched a brilliantly red rose. He stopped in front of the gray stone, and his heart was heavy.
Falling to his knees, he stared at the headstone and felt his life shatter. So many things have happened, and he had been away. He could feel a lump form in his throat and hot tears formed in his eyes.
"I'm so sorry," he whispered softly, "I was so selfish. I don't know why I acted childish." He paused and took a deep breath and looked up at the stars.
"If there was any other kind of punishment for the way I acted, I would have gladly accepted it, but not this." He brought his head to stare at the headstone.
The hot tears poured down his wind chilled cheeks. He smiled sadly, stood up and brought the rose to his lips. He looked passed the rose again and his lower lip trembled. He lightly kissed the roses' petals and walked to the headstone.
"I love you, Mom," Percy said and laid the rose on top of the headstone and walked silently out of the cemetery.
*~*~ So, what'cha think? I hope you all liked it. I hope it wasn't too depressing for you.
