Eternal Midnight
He watched Marissa leave in shock; his bright blue eyes electric blue orbs in the moonlight. He suddenly turned on his heel and headed back to his "room", the Cohen's pool house. He fell onto his bed with a "whoosh" and closed his eyes, rubbing his face with his hands. Tonight he'd fucked up good. Screwed everything with Marissa to hell and back and he couldn't do a damn thing about it. He prayed he could get in touch with her to talk to her the next day. He also hoped Seth's grandpa didn't figure out he was macking with his girlfriend earlier that night. His hand moved to the right side of his head, where he shifted his hair, tousling it. Marissa's face would haunt him the rest of the night.
The next morning, Marissa woke up hurting. Not just from anything physical, but from something mental too. She'd screwed up her life beyond words last night, and she knew it was wrong to begin with, but seeing Ryan with that girl -no, woman- was just painful in a way she couldn't describe. She lost herself in her thoughts, staring straight up at a white ceiling, unknowingly daydreaming about Ryan. Feeling the pain in his eyes from the night before. What had she been thinking? How had she been swept up in this eternal midnight? And how long would it take her to get out of it?
