Disclaimer: I don't own anything to do with Pirates of the Caribbean.
Dawn breaks over Tortuga, but unlike most other towns it's not so peaceful at this hour of the morning. Broken bottles clutter the streets , and whores still ply their wares, even as the sun shows their ghastly visages. Most men are too drunk to care anyway. A random fight in the street, no one pays it mind, they've seen a hundred before just like it. Just another lovely day in Tortuga.
However, today there has been a new arrival. A somewhat non-descript man of medium build and medium height, with only one feature to set him apart from others, a hat. Not just any hat, but quite a horrendous one at that, dusty as hell, and all bent out of shape in an odd triangle, yet it suits him perfectly. His name is Captain Jack Sparrow, and he has only one thing on his mind.
"Excuse me good sir!", he says to a fat bald man, who happens to be biding his time honing a rather large knife," D'you know where I may be able to find a boat?"
" A BOAT!!!!!"Laughing hysterically the fat man slaps his knee, forgetting the rather sizeable whetstone in his hand," Damn!!"
"You really should be more careful, would have been a shame if you had slapped with the other hand."Jack says with a devilish grin on his face.
" Aye it would 'ave." Said the man, looking at the knife in his hand, and setting it down,"Would 'ave been bloody awful, but I 'ad ta laugh lad. Look around ya. 'Ere's boats everywhere in case you 'aven't noticed."
"Ah, quite right you are! I guess any one will do. Good day, I bid you adieu.",As Jack walks away he peers over his shoulder at the man and smiles as he notices him muttering.
"Now wot th' 'ell did I do with that blasted knife."

Dawn breaks over Tortuga. A solitary vessel of medium size enters the port. A rather ordinary looking merchant ship to be sure, but from the looks of the crew they are definitely not merchants. Grizzled, dirty men scurry from place to place, preparing to dock the ship, shouting orders and relaying commands. Yet the loudest voice of all seems to be coming from the area of the helm. The voice stands out among all the others, for it's not the low raspy voice of the men, but the high pitched bellow of a woman who means business. There standing at the helm, wheel in hand, a strikingly beautiful woman of caramel complexion, barks orders in a way that leaves no doubt in anyones mind. She is Anna-Maria, and she is in charge here.
" Let's get this damned boat into the harbor boys!!!There's loot to be spent, and more to find when that's gone!!"
"Aye Cap'n!"A huge man with a shaved head, hollers back."We'll 'ave 'er in port fore you know it. I already 'ave me first stop all picked out."
" Of course you do Barabos."She says with a laugh, " I've never seen you make port in Tortuga without hitting the Slippery Eel as soon as you make the shore. Just try to make your share last more than a day this time."
"Aye Cap'n I'll do wot I can."He smiles showing a gaping hole where his two front teeth should be, "But I ain't makin any promises."He says over his shoulder as he walks away and begins barking orders.
Anna-Maria smiles, in five minutes she'll be on dry land for the first time in forty-three days. A hot bath, a good meal, those are the first things on her list, and God save the man who tries to stop her.
