She remembered how she had met him one night in a L.A. bar, they had talked over drinks and eventually they became friends. Of course at the time he was working for *that* firm.
Then one night he told her that he leaving and asked if she wanted to come. She agreed and that is how they had ended up traveling the country. Occasionally they would slay a vampire. After all she had told Giles that since L.A. and Sunnydale seemed to be covered that maybe she should travel and he had agreed.
Mainly they just had fun and lived a little.
