They say that a magician's secret shall never be revealed for the trick would never quite be seen in the same light. This one short phrase proves to everyone or better yet leads everyone to believe that magic doesn't exist. Some people spend their whole lives trying to prove that magic is simply just science. I on the other hand have spent my whole life trying to prove that magic is real

This whole quest started the end of sophomore year. My best friend, Maria, had just gotten her first boyfriend, and she talked about him non- stop. I too longed for such excitement. The thought of some dream boy consumed me. I'd sit in geometry imagining being in the back of a movie theater with Mr. Perfect.

"Kyle, stop it!" Maria said giggling. Kyle Valenti, her latest boy toy, was kissing his way down her neck. "Kyle you know I have to work!"

Eventually Stud Muffin left her alone and she picked up the rag to wipe the counter down. "Done already," I told her as I opened my journal prepared to write down my latest daydreams centered around, Tom. I had named dream boy Tom. He now seemed more real than ever, and it caused me to long for him even more.

"Liz, you need to let loose," Maria told me as she sat down on the stool next to me. "You have to high of expectations, hon." She said as she played with her fingers.

"I don't want to talk about this," I replied as I began to write. I would pretend to ignore her. If I decided to write, she'd leave me alone.right?

"Look, Liz. My dad wants me to come and visit him after school gets out. I don't want to go by myself."

I perked up. Was she about to invite me to go to stay with her in Malibu?

"I'd like it if you came with me."

I looked up at her and smiled. This was so awesome!! She was inviting me to stay with her in Malibu, California. I, Liz Parker, was going to leave Roswell and go somewhere that was interesting. I was going to be experienced, and knowledgeable.

"Oh my gosh!" I squealed as I pulled Maria off the stool and began jumping up and down with excitement.

That night I lay in bed. I couldn't fall asleep because I was so excited. Right after we were through bouncing up and down, I ran upstairs to tell my dad. To my surprise, he agreed that I could go.

As I lay here staring at my glow-in-the-dark stars that adorned my ceiling, I made an oath to myself. This summer I would let loose and have some fun. This summer, I would learn that magic really does exist.
