This a poem that I wrote about Kaoru's feelings. In this poem, she loved Kenshin who was her best friend, but Kenshin loved someone else. No matter what Kaoru tried to do to get his attention, he seemed to be caught up in something else. So you can say this is more like a love triangle, and I hope you readers do like it. I plan to write my poems in the future, and the good news is they are going to be all coming from different perspectives. I think the next chapter would be Kenshin's perspective or the one he loved. Can you guess who it is? Next poem, I promise you'll find out. Well bye for now! Please leave any questions, comments, and suggestions in your review, but please don't flame me, for I am not in the mood to feel any more pain then I can handle for now.

Disclaimer: I don't own Rurouni Kenshin anime series. I wish I did but I don't. : (

Kaoru's Perspective:

Did You Forget Me?

In the night of rain,

I stood alone waiting for you.

In the dead of the night,

You told me to wait for you.

In the harshness of these winds,

I thoughtof you,

Soaking wet,

I remained for you.

Yet you didn't come.

Did you forget?

Or was it something else?

Did you remember me this night?

Or did someone else have heart your tonight?

The next morning at school,

I saw you,

You smiled,

Your violet eyes so warm, ever so kind.

I wanted to ask you if you remembered our special night,

The anniversary of our first meeting that night.

But the words never came from mouth,

For she came and took you away somehow.

I went through lunch,

Waiting for you.

I went through classes,

Thinking of you.

At the end of the day I waited for you,

Only to see you walking her home.

Did you forget me?

Or was it something else?

Did you remember me this day?

Or did someone else have your heart today?

The day passed and night came.

I waited by the phone for you to call today.

I remembered yesterday from our planning,

You told me that you would call me today,

However, a ring never came.

I waited what seemed like endless hours,

Only to fall asleep at the sound of rain.

Did you forget me?

Or was it something else?

Did you remember this hour?

Or did someone else have you at this hour?

The next day came,

And I waited by my doorsteps for you,

But you never came.

I walked to school by myself,

Wondering what I did so wrong.

Usually you met me everyday.

Always came by my way,

But now you never did,

Things were not the same,

As these days changed.

Did you forget me?

Or was it something else?

Did you remember me now?

Or did someone else have you now?

Standing by my window side,

I saw you came.

You looked nervous and rather inane,

I didn't know if you were the boy I knew,

Or someone rather new.

I waited for words to form from your lips,

Instead of that, you turned away without a miss.

I asked you what was wrong.

Your words never came.

I sat down by my door side, waiting for you to say something.

You just stood like a statue that could not speak.

I asked you once more what was wrong.

You never turned around,

Nor did you answer my call.

I begged you to tell me what was wrong,

You just stalked away,

And acted in such a weird way.

"Am I not your best friend?" I cried.

"Can't you trust me any longer?"

"What I have done to make you treat me like the way you do?"

Did you forget me?

Or was it something else?

Did you remember me at all?

Or did someone else claim your heart?

You walked away,

Never looked back,

I remained for I have no more words left to say.

The days passed by,

And I never heard your words,

Nor did you have the guts to look at me ever.

But after all things we went through,

Kenshin, you should know,

Above all things,

You're the one who'll always be in my so-called heart.

From the day she came,

Only did I realize,

There were more things that brought me astray.

The way your eyes lightened when you saw her,

The way you smiled when you were around her.

It all drove me insane,

To know my best friend like you now belonged to another.

I realized as time changed, things changed.

Our friendship once a newborn plant,

Bloomed into a beautiful flower,

Who withered and died.

Thanks to you,

I now the meaning when it is said,

That friends, come and friends go.

But what about best friends who always stay together?

It is said,

That, friends are easy to find,

However, good friends are hard to come across in a lifetime.

Yet where do we stand?

If I'm not your best friend nor your enemy,

Exactly what am I to you?

Did you forget your other friends, as well as you forgot about me too?

Or did you find someone who could be all they can be and fulfill your needs?

Inside school you hung out with her,

Outside school you stuck around her.

Your smiles brightened your face,

You red hair flew by her face.

As your hand raised to caress her face,

I stood still, wishing that time,

That moment in space just to be her.

Never did I feel the need to be someone else,

Or to wish to be like that someone else.

I felt the tears that threatened to spill,

But my pride kept me still.

Finally when you do look this way,

I turned and walked away.

Then one day after school, I met someone too.

A person called a friend,

A person who you thought was my boyfriend.

He asked my name,

"Kaoru Kamiya is thy name but you may call me something if you may."

From that day forward we became great friends,

The feelings I had for you, were disappearing from my heart.

From then,

Putting myself in your shoes,

I knew what the answer to my questions,

That, always were new.

You did forget me,

As well as you forgot your other friends too.

Your heart was claimed by another person.

The sheer feeling of brightness,

The sheer feeling of sensation burned throughout me when I saw his face,

As it did when you looked at her face.

I hope you don't mind,

That I understand your find,

And I wish for you to know,

That you ain't alone.

Yep you forgot me,

You forgot our special moments in time,

But one day while I promised my mother to stay home till another time,

You came by my house with a quick flash.

You grabbed my wrists and squeezed it tight,

Just to get my attention,

You jerked me away,

And you asked me "Why did it have to be this way?"

(To be continued.)
