Charlie wants to do something nice for Jean, so she changes her opinion about him, but of course it backfires. Set at the beginning of season 3.

When Alice and Matthew agree to babysit Amelia and Lynette while Lucien and Jean go out to celebrate their anniversary, they have no idea what they're getting themselves in for. Naturally, chaos ensues and the girls are more than a handful, but Matthew soon comes to learn that chaos isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes, it can be absolutely beautiful.

This is one of those stories that work their way into your head like a bothersome advert. It is a dark imagining, at first, of Alice Harvey's youth and crosses over into Miss Fisher territory, in fact it's almost a half and half. I shall be posting it on that stream.

On their return from their honeymoon, however, they receive an explanation from her in a letter that changes their lives completely. She could quite possibly have given them the best wedding present they could have received.
