Challenge: Christmas Spirit
All I Want For Christmas
With a sigh,
Robin watched the lone candle burn. Today was Christmas Eve, but the spirit of
this time of year didn't reach her heart. It was the fifth Christmas without
Matt, Hart and Cutler. And even after all the time, she still missed them
terribly.
Shifting her gaze to the pile of gifts under the
Christmas tree, she knew none of those bearing her name contained what she
really wished for. Nobody could give her that gift.
Nobody except for one man. The man, who'd never
returned her calls or answered her letters. The man who'd made her feel home
when she'd come to Tahoe, who'd captured her heart and broke it so many times
without even knowing.
Creaking softly, the door to the station opened
and a tall hooded figure stepped in.
"Can I help you?" Robin asked the stranger, who
didn't reply. He just brushed off some snow and then slowly removed the hood,
revealing his face.
Tears welled up in Robin's blue eyes as they met
a pair of green ones.
"Merry Christmas, Robin," Matt whispered softly,
not sure how she'd react.
For a short moment Robin felt tempted to just
slap Matt senseless.. but then, instead she rushed forward and hugged him,
feeling his arms slowly wrapping themselves around her waist.
"Welcome home, Matt," she answered while tears
ran down her cheeks. Christmas was the time of miracles. And through some miracle
she'd now gotten all she had wanted for Christmas…
