I Close My Eyes
Disclaimer: I do not own Hey Arnold! But I do own this song. I wrote it all by myself and sung it through fifty times to see if it sounded okay. Please, don't use this without my permission!
"I close my eyes, In your heart I don't mean anything At all. So I'll dream, While I sleep I will dream of what your thinking When you walk past me in the hall. I will live, I'll see a brighter day no matter what May come. I can see, Even if you're not beside me, I am done. I've got a life of my own. I've got a place I can call home. I've got this day, said and done. I'll find a way to be your only one. I close my eyes, In your heart I don't mean anything At all. It shall be, When you're finally on your knee, Asking me to a ball. I will know, In my heart I'll feel it so, I don't have to be all alone. I've got a life of my own. I've got a place to call my home. I've got this day, said and done. I'll find a way to be your only one. I close my eyes."
"One more time, Ms. Pataki! This time with more feeling! If you want to win this thing you've got to sing it with your heart!" Mr. Penix yelled through the megaphone.
"I'm trying my hardest! I can't put that much of my heart into it! Look at what it's doing to my throat!" I said, opening my mouth to show him my throat. It was soar because I had sung my song twenty times.
"Well, one more time and you can go on break." He said loudly, this time without the megaphone.
"Two more times! I'm not paying you to give her break!" Bob yelled. I was surprised he wanted me to win. But than, when we had the spelling bee, he made me practice day in and day out. But this was going to far. I stomped my foot and huffed.
"Bob! Come on. I've been singing this thing since 11:00. It's 2:00. Just let me sit down and grab a water bottle. It will only take five minutes. Please?"
"Okay, but your going to try twice as hard when you're done!" Bob agreed. I walked off of the stage and grabbed my water bottle. When I reach the bleachers I fell down. I was exhausted. I opened my water bottle when I noticed someone was walking in.
"Aaron! Come here! I want you to tell me how Helga's doing!" Bob said.
"It's Arnold. And she looks exhausted." Arnold snapped. I could tell that he wasn't too fond of Big Bob.
"No, Arnnie. She's going to sing in the Miss America Juniors pageant." Arnold looked at me with a surprised look on his face.
"Is she?" He asked, rubbing his chin. "Well? Can I hear?"
"Yes. Helga, you're over due. Come on! Stand back up. Back to work." Mr. Penix said over the megaphone.
"I close me eyes, In your heart I don't mean anything At all. So I'll dream, While I sleep I will dream of what your thinking When you walk past me in the hall. I've got a life of my own, I've got a place to call home, I've got this day, said and done, I'll find away to be your only one. I close my eyes." I sang nervously. Arnold just stared at me. I was about to step off the stage when he clapped. I looked up at him and he was looking at me.
"There it was! By God, she's got it!" Mr. Penix yelled. "We don't have to practice! Just have this boy there and she'll win." I was going to slap him but Arnold was still looking at me.
"Arnold? Still in there?" I asked after Bob and Mr. Penix left the room.
"Whom'd you sing that for?" He asked.
"You."
