Harry awoke the next morning to Hedwig's cooing. It was fairly early, he was up again before Ron and the others.
He put on his robes and headed for the stairs. Again Hermione was sitting by the fire reading a book of some sort.
Harry just looked at her and shook his head. He went down by the fire and sat down near where Hermione was sitting.
She jumped a little, "I didn't know anyone was up." She said. "Just me" Harry said looking into the fire.
They still had about a half hour till breakfast, so Harry just gazed into the fire. His mind started to wander.
He thought about his Occlumency class. He was so close to Sirius again, he could have saved him, why didn't Lupin let him go. He shook his head trying to forget that memory. He then started to think about that strange dream he had right before the Weasley's had picked him up. About the merky dungeon, it was felt cold, and there was hardly any light..Harry just figured it was a strange dream and sood up ending his daydreaming. "Ready for breakfast mate?" Asked Ron. "You bet! I am starving" Said Harry with a half grin.
They walked down to the Great Hall and headed towards the Gryffindor table. McGonagall came over to Ron and Harry.
"Goodmorning" She said. "Morning Professor" replied the both of them.
"I wanted to tell you Harry, I talked to Dumbledore and you can have your position back."
She said beaming at Harry. "Ron, you are still our keeper." She said looking at Ron.
He kind of moaned with his smile. Harry knew that Ron was displeased because he wasn't any good.
"This is a new year, a year for improvement!" Said McGonagall cheerfully.
"Practices start today, we will have practice everyday, except Tusedays and Thursdays."
McGongagall said suddenly sternly. "Potter, I wanted to tell you, that you have been appointed the new Gryffindor Captain!"
She said happily, and headed off towards the teacher's table.
The bell rang for 1st period once again. So Harry was off to potions. He sat by Hermione once again. Snape swiftly entered the classroom.
"New seating arrangements." Snape said sternly.
"We will start with.." he looked around "Potter". Harry's stomach turned. "You can sit by" he looked around again "Malfoy" he said smirking.
Malfoy was just as unhappy as Harry was. Harry got up and sat by Malfoy, but scooted as far as he could. He then re-sat everyone in the classroom.
Harry looked to find Hermione, she was sitting by Goyle. "Directions on the board, hand in your potions at the end of class." Said Snape, then went to his desk.
"Well Potter, this will be fun, won't it." Said Malfoy sarcasticly. Harry wasn't paying attention, he was cutting up his berm grass.
Harry noticed that Malfoy was copying what he did, so Harry decided to play a little game. Harry pretended to drop things into his potion so Malfoy would too. And sure enough he did, but of course it was totally wrong. Harry, however, only pretended to put the items in his potion. Malfoy's potion had a strange odor and had a large brown bubble, while everyone's else in the class was orange with purple sparks. The bell rang, and they all put thier potions in the front of the room.
Harry was off to Transfigurations. Todays lesson was trying to transfigure a plate into a a goblet. Harry did fairly well. He got it within 5 tries.
"Good Potter" said McGonagall grinning, "5 points to Gryffindor" she said.
Harry smiled to himself, it felt good. The bell rang and it was Care for Magical creatures.
The students once again crowded around the Hut. Today Hagrid had a small lizard type animal with a furry mane. It was called a Otey.
Hagrid said they were midly dangerous, in that they squirt posionous fluid. Class was once again, boring.
The bell rang and it was off to Divinations, Harry's least favorite class.
Today's lesson was trying to really look into the infinite with our crystal balls. Harry gazed into his, trying to make it seem like he was trying.
He squinted, and closed his eyes and rubbed his temples. Ron could hardly keep his laughter in.
The class was over, thank goodness, and now was time for Quidditch practice.
Harry and Ron headed to the Quidditch pitch. Harry wasn't really sure what to do, he was the new captain.
"So captain, what is going on for today?" Ron said grinning. "I..I really don't know." Harry replied, very nervously.
Harry entered the changing room and changed into his quidditch robes. He then went into the prep-room.
There he saw the Quidditch team that was left. He headed for the front of the room, and turned around.
"Well, I am your new captain." Harry said. "I was thinking on working on drills today." He said. They all agreed and headed towards the pitch.
Harry grabbed his Firebolt, and followed behind. "Start by flying a few laps, to get the feel for your broom again."
Harry said to the team. He jumpled off the ground and was soaring in the air. The wind was sweeping through his hair, and beating his face.
He closed his eyes for a moment, he had forgotten how much he had missed this. It was wonderful to be flying again.
