Hedwig flew home from her AOW (Abused Owls Anonymous) meeting in a very depressed state. She had just spoken out about her treatment, and she expected to feel better. Instead, she felt much worse. The injustice of it all was welling up inside her like a bubbling brook of rage and bloodlust. She flew into Harry's dorm and stared upon the sleeping child, murderous impulses coursing through her. She flitted over to Harry's head and pecked out a few eyebrows, just for a taste. He mumbled and swatted her away. She tried to nuzzle him affectionately and he swatted her away again.
'That's it! That was the parcel that broke the owl's beak! I will not stand for this!' thought Hedwig. She flew to the Owlery, hoping to find comradery and support among her kind.
