'Twas the night before Christmas
When all through the Shire
Not a hobbit was stirring
They were all too tired
The fireworks were placed near Bag End with care In hopes that Gandalf soon would be there Merry and Pippin were snuggled into their beds While visions of pipe-weed danced in there head
And Frodo and Bilbo In their winter best Had just settled down For a hobbit sized rest
When all of a sudden There was heard such a din Disturbing the quiet scene Waking all of Hobbiton
Each little hobbit Sprang up in their bed To see what made the sound That could have woke the dead
The moon up above Danced around The hobbits peeked out and The source of clamor was found
To all of the wondering eyes Did appear A little red sled Pulled by some reindeer
And a little old driver With slight concern Soon shouted out "Hey Rudolph! I think you took a wrong turn!"
Rapidly now Gandalf came He shouted and called The fellowship by name
Now Legolas, now Sam, Now Pippin and Merry. On Aragon, on Frodo, And don't forget Gimli.
Hurry, hurry Come and see Who this round man Could possibly be.
The little man Began to speak He said "I do not think This is the place we seek
"I am quite sure Prancer That this route is not the best! This the last time I ever use map quest!"
Just at that moment He felt a tug or two He glanced down a And Merry asked, "Who are you?"
The man all in red Seemed rather confused He was rather tongue-tied He stood just there bemused
But he collected his thoughts Right good and quick And proclaimed in a jolly voice "I, am Saint Nick."
"Each Christmas night Making no noise, I visit little girls and boys And give them brand new toys"
Each little hobbit Stood wide eyed and dazed As Santa gave them each a gift They were quite amazed
"Well Saint Nick," Frodo began "Welcome to Middle Earth You jolly old man!"
"Welcome" Legolas added Gazing at his new bow "This is really great But how did you know?"
"You see my dear elf That's just how Christmas goes It's the magic of the season Santa always knows"
Merry and Pippin sat to the side And would have greeted the guest But they were too busy with their gift The were smoking Longbottom's best
"As great as it was Spending my time here I must get moving before Morning gets too near"
And with that He turned to the fellowship To see if the could help Send him on his return trip
Gandalf helped And pointed the way For Santa to set off In his small wooden sleigh
And they heard him exclaim Filled with joy and mirth Merry Christmas to everyone Merry Christmas Middle Earth
