Chapter 1
Adoration

Her eyes lifted to the sky. Pouring out of her emotions were snippets of the past, of the future, of the present. They collided and charged, they mangled and distorted. It was all coming back now, those wonderful years of youth with her special someone. With her significant other.

With Arima.

Yukino Miyazawa sat at her cramped apartment window, staring out of it at the murky overcast sky. It pelted rain and hail, and her eyes started to water. She was 25 now, and she was in America. Away from Arima. Away from the love of her life.

She was on a business trip, but how was she to know that this trip would eat up 3/4ths of her whole year? It was only the second year of her and Arima's marriage, and she was already a thousand miles away from the man she loved. She could only hold on to her high school thoughts of friendship and love. They flooded her head at a million miles per hour. Her first kiss with Arima.the culture fest play.Tsubaki and Tonami's crazy affair.only these thoughts could warm her up in the damp and cold air of Seattle, Washington.

Her cell phone rang to Canon in D and she picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Yukino? .Yukino! Have I caught you at a bad time, or have I..."

"Arima, is this you?"

"Well, don't you recognize my voice?"

Yukino's heart stopped. It was Arima. She hadn't talked to him in at least 2 months.every time he tried to contact her it was a bad time, or when she called him he was never home. They finally had time for each other. They could finally talk.

"My goodness, Arima.there is so much to talk about!" Yukino rang out, giddy, jumping up and down in her room. She could feel Arima's warmth over the phone...his calm demeanor, his cool voice. She had never had a bigger smile on her face.

"Heh, well, how's the job going? Is everything going smoothly?" asked Arima, who was sitting down in his office at their house. He was a high school teacher.

"Hmm, well, everything is going fine I guess. I just wish all this rain would stop." she said, staring through her window at a young man walking down the street. She noticed it was her next door neighbor, a shy young man named Tobias. He was an artist, and Yukino admired his work a lot.

"Heh, it's sunny and grand here," laughed Arima, looking out at the sunny and clear day. It was early morning there, only 9:00 AM. It was around 9 PM where Yukino was.

"Hmm, so, how is the job going for you? No students giving you any trouble, I presume!" giggled Yukino. She lied down in her bed and just sighed. She was finally talking with the man she loved. The only man she would ever love.

A knock came to her door and she went to go answer it. She asked Arima if he could hold on for a second and she said of course. She opened it and there was Tobias, drenched and wet.

"My god, Tobias! You must be freezing!" she exclaimed and let him in the apartment. He was sniffling and sneezing.

"I saw you walking this way; where were you coming from?" Yukino asked, getting him some coffee.

"I love you." He said, staring down at his lap.

"Huh?"

"I.I love you."

Yukino dropped the coffee pot.

Arima was still on the line.

"Yukino? Yukino, are you there? Hellooooo? Should I just call back later? Okay, I'm hanging up."
