Thoughts of the Somber Youth
Disclaimer: I don't own Sword of Mana, Square-Enix does so don't sue me or I'll end up on the streets.
Note: Since you have to name the hero and heroine in the game, the boy's name is Debiru and the girl's name is Enjeru.
"I guess this is it.."
Silence overcame the peaceful landscape of the Mana Holy Lands as the sun started to rise. The only noise was the slight breathing of the two youths sitting outside a hot house.
"It's been a long time since we started this whole thing, but it seems like we just started yesterday."
Enjeru laid her head against her knees and thought about all that happened.
"Time really does fly."
She sighed and laid back against the grass. Debiru stood near her, his eyes focused on the rising sun and the red slowly overcoming the sky.
"Yet it doesn't seem all that long since we first met." The blonde man said.
"Days drag on forever, but the years fly by." Enjeru said smiling.
"And to think of the people who died from this quest.Devius, Dark Lord, Medusa, Marshall."
"Amanda." Enjeru interrupted.
Debiru sighed and set his gaze at the exit of the Sanctuary. "Yes, her too." He said somberly.
Enjeru stood and wrapped her arms around Debiru from behind. "Amanda was a great person. She loved you so much.If it wasn't for her you might not be standing here right now, ya know?"
"Yeah, but I still miss her. I know we agreed to stop looking behind us and to keep looking forward but."
Enjeru hugged him tighter, his warmth comforting her. "We should remember the past. Sometimes when you have nothing left and you've given up, the only thing you can think of are your memories. That's why you have to remember your past no matter what happens or happened back then."
Debiru replaced his somber look with a grin. "Thanks Enjeru. I'm glad you're here with me."
Enjeru closed her eyes and squeezed Debiru closer to her. "You said you'd protect me no matter what. I promise to protect you in any way also." - "The sun's going to be up soon, we should go inside and get what little rest we can." Debiru started to stand up but was jerked back down.
Enjeru hugged him closer, almost strangling the boy. "Don't go yet, let's just rest out here."
Debiru smiled. "Rest peacefully Enjeru."
"You too."
Soon enough he fell into a deep sleep. Enjeru felt the waves of weariness overcome her and she was almost asleep. She rested her head on Debiru's shoulder and closed her eyes, feeling safer then she had ever before when she was this close to him. Sleep slowly overcame her and she moved a bit on his shoulder, his soft golden hair rubbing against her face. Her mind clouded and sleep was just seconds away from her.
"I love you, Debiru.I just wish I could've been with you."
With that, she slowly faded into unconsciousness, and the sun raised into the sky, shining over the Holy Lands bringing a feeling a calm to the area and warming the two sitting against the grass.
