Well, I was thinking about "Day of Reckoning" one day and I wondered about the parents and their reactions so here's my fic.

It was a normal day, just like any other day at the Pryde's house.

Mrs. Pryde was folding laundry in the living room while Mr. Pryde was in the garage fixing something or another.

Mrs. Pryde picked up the remote laying next to her and began flipping through the channels. Suddenly she recognized her daughter Kitty phasing though something on the Tv screen and stopped to stare.

"Positively been identified as Kitty Pride," the reported said.

Pictures of other students of the Xavier Institute were flashed by as well.

"Honey get in here quick!" Mrs. Pryde shouted.

Mr. Pryde came running in as fast as he could and caught a glimpse of Kitty's head.

"Just in, mutants downtown and their robot destroying everything."

"Oh my God," Mrs. Pryde gasps.

"And we'll have more live coverage from that as soon as possible," the reported ended.

"Well at least we know our Kitty is safe somewhere," Mrs. Pryde said trying not to panic too much after watching the whole live coverage.

"God please bring her back safely," Mr. Pryde prayed.

In just hours reporters were all around the house trying to get in.

Mr. and Mrs. Pryde locked all the doors and pulled down all the shades on the windows but the reporters just wouldn't go away.

"Please just leave us alone," Mrs. Pryde pleaded.

"Government agents! Open up now or we'll bang the door down," someone yelled outside.

Mrs. Pryde looked at her husband. He nodded and said, "We might as well."

Mr. and Mrs. Pryde opened their door and let the government agents in.

"Mrs. Pryde is it true your very own daughter is a mutant"
"Mr. Pryde did you realize your daughter was a mutant the whole time"
"Did you realize what institute you were sending your daughter too"
"Where have the mutants gone?"

And so on the questions went.

"No comments please just go away!" Mrs. Pryde yelled tears in her eyes and closed the door.

The two government agents made themselves comfortable on the couch.

"Mrs. Pryde please just make our job easy and tell us where your daughter and her friends are hiding"
"We can help them," the other one added.

Yeah right Mr. Pryde thought.

"Honestly we don't know where they are! Can't you see how hard this is for us! Our own daughter is missing and running for her life. She isn't even 16 yet! She might be a freak to you but we still love her with all our hearts. Who do you think the Bayvile Sirens were huh? They literally cut the crime rate is half and accomplished more than the police usually do," Mrs. Pryde said, remembering one of her earlier conversations with Kitty and how Kitty told her about the Bayvile Sirens.

"She doesn't mean to hurt anyone," Mr. Pryde added.

"Look that's all nice and you may think she means no harm but she's still dangerous to society!"

"Mutants have lived with people, been going to school with them working with them, for who knows how long and nothing bad has ever happened as far as we know." Mr. Pryde said.

"I'd love to sit here and argue with you over coffee but we have work to do. I'll give you one more chance to tell us where the hell that menace of yours is!"

"You really sound like you want to help her now," Mrs. Pryde said.

"Come on let's go", one agent said to his partner. "Maybe we can come back with an arrest warrant!"

The door slammed behind them.

"What are we going to do," Mrs. Pryde said.

"Pray, just pray."
