On one fateful Afternoon, Philza Soot was taking a walk through the nearby park alongside his wife, Kristin. It was just an average day, the sun shining brightly with a gentle spring breeze. Until, something caught the corner of Phil's eye. Beneath a nearby azalea tree was what appeared to be a white bundle, with a small note attached. Curious, Phil carefully approached the bundle and grabbed the note. But all it said was the names 'Wilbur' and 'Technoblade' written in teal and pink ink.
Concern slowly bubbled within Phil's chest. Next to him, he watched Kristin as she carefully moved part of the bundle. Inside were two small baby phantoms, one had curly brown hair dressed in a teal onesie while the other's brown hair was more straight and wavy dressed in a pink onesie. The two Elytrians let out a shared gasp of surprise. Who would abandon two small children here, especially phantoms in broad daylight? Didn't they know that phantoms burn?
In a panicked motion, Kristin placed the blanket back in place. Shielding the two young phantoms from the harsh sunlight as she carefully lifted the white bundle containing them into her arms. "Kristin!" Phil let out a shout of surprise at her actions. "What?!" she bit back, clearly unaware of what she was doing. Phantoms were an overprotective bunch, it wasn't smart to mess with one of the flock, especially their young. "You can't just pick up two baby phantoms, what if the mother is nearby?"
Kristin gave him a narrowed eye look and fluffed out her wings protectively, "No phantom would abandon their young in broad daylight like this. They'll die if someone doesn't take them!" she spoke, then, her gaze landed on the note still firmly held in Phil's hand, "What does that say?" "Erm.. Two names. Wilbur written in teal ink and Technoblade in pink." Kristin glanced down at the bundle in her arms, a fond smile forming on her ebony tinted lips, "That must be their names then."
Phil stared at his wife in disbelief. She wasn't actually considering taking in two phantoms, was she? Intermingled families weren't unheard of, sure, but phantoms and elytrians? But the look on her face spoke miles of how she felt towards the two children, and Phil let out a sigh of defeat. "We should take them to Monarch Rogue, see if a phantom flock lost any of their young recently. If not, then we can take them in." An overjoyed smile brightened Kristin's face at his response, and she nodded happily.
The visit to Monarch Rogue had proven fruitless. The God shook their head solemnly as they explained that no known phantom flocks had reported any young missing. Meaning that the two may have been abandoned by a stray mother. "Unless the two of you are willing to raise these young, then I shall see to it that they are taken care of." Monarch Rogue finished, slowly reaching their hand towards the bundle. But Kristin pulled it away, "I.. I want to take care of them. ..Please."
Monarch Rogue didn't say anything, only turning their gaze onto Phil, "You are alright with this arrangement?" they asked. "Oh! Er.. Yep." Phil answered, uncertainty wavering in his gaze. He noticed the way Monarch Rogue narrowed their gaze at him, but said nothing. "Very well, if you wish to raise them, then who am I to stop you? What are their names?" they asked, reaching into a nearby drawer and pulling out two certificates and a pen.
Kristin gave one final fond smile to the two young in her arms, "Wilbur and Technoblade Soot." she answered. Monarch Rogue nodded in approval, "Strong names. I hope they will serve the Overworld and L'manburg well." they spoke, signing off on the certificates and handing them to the new parents.
Life had been fairly eventful after that day. The twins had grown into quite the rambunctious pair, Wilbur constantly using his phantom abilities to spook his parents and Techno often getting in trouble for spooking other children. But Phil and Kristin had come to love their sons. It was an eventful life, but one they didn't regret. Yet they had underestimated just how much of a troublemaker Wilbur could turn out to be.
One rainy day when they were sure the twins wouldn't burn, Kristin and Phil allowed Wilbur and Techno to go play outside. A couple hours later, Kristin was in the kitchen preparing hot chocolate for the boys when they suddenly came rushing inside, a strange bundled up blanket in Wilbur's pale hands. Both of them shared a look of excitement as Wilbur shouted- "Dad! Can we keep it?" with Techno adding- "He's not an 'it', Wilbur. His name is Theseus." "Whatever!"
Phil walked over to the boys and took the bundle from Wilbur's hands, expecting it to be some sort of small animal they'd found and wanted to keep as a pet. What he wasn't expecting was for it to be an actual baby Avian, one freshly hatched too. Phil nearly dropped the child in shock, but kept his grip, "Wilbur, Techno. This is a baby." He spoke, a gasp of surprise coming from Kristin. "Yeah, we know. That's why we're asking if we can keep him! Techno already decided on the name 'Theseus.'" Wilbur spoke as if it was the most simple thing in the world, finding a random baby and choosing to keep it.
"Wil- Where did you even find him?" Phil asked, a look of exasperation coming over his face. "We found him in a box on the sidewalk. The words 'to a good home' were scribbled on the side." Techno explained, readjusting his square-frame glasses. Phil placed the young Avian back into the boys' hands as he pinched the bridge of his nose, "Do you two even know the first thing about raising an Avian?" They shared a sheepish look, "No.. But! Ms. Puffy says that Avians aren't too different from Elytrians! It can't be too hard to raise him!" Wilbur insisted.
Phil let out a sigh. While it was true that Avians and Elytrians were closely related, the big difference was that Avians couldn't fly. Life could very well end up more difficult for this young one if his entire family could fly yet he couldn't. "Wilbur, think about it. If there's ever a situation where we need to leave, he won't be able to fly away with us. Avians can't fly, Wil." Phil explained. "So? Techno or I could just use our abilities to help him escape, couldn't we?"
"Phil." Kristin finally spoke, "Surely there's no harm in taking him in? The boys are clearly attached and one little Avian can't be that much trouble." she said. "Kristin, not you, too. We can't raise a third child! Not with what happened to-" Phil shut his mouth, noticing the way Kristin narrowed her eyes. They weren't allowed to speak of it. Especially not in front of the boys. But eventually- "Fine. We can keep.. What did you two name him? Theseus?" the two nodded. "Fine, we can keep Theseus. But he is going to get bullied for that name."
Wilbur let out a scoff, "No one would ever dare bully our little Theseus, here. Not if Techno and I have anything to say about it!" Techno nodded in agreement. Phil shook his head in amusement, watching as Kristin took the young Avian from Wilbur and as the two boys followed her into the old nursery. Life really was going to be so much different from now on. Especially with their strange mismatched family, two Elytrians, two Phantoms, and an Avian.. Who would've thought?
Little did Phil know, Theseus was going to end up being more trouble than Wilbur and Techno ever were.
