(A.N. I thought a brief history of my story was necessary.)

In a history book in the Oval Office that Grant had read many times was the history of the post World War 2 world. It began thus: " The end of the Second World War came in 1945. The U.S.S.R had lost their beloved weapon to none other than the Nazi's. Hitler used the bomb against Britain knowing the plane would be mowed down by the anti-aircraft fire from the Russians or Americans. Britain was close and wouldn't know which plane to shoot first. Five days after the monumental German discovery, London disappeared beneath a mushroom cloud. America, uncertain about the origin of the weapon, fell back. Germany swiftly over took almost all of Europe. Russia swept through the Middle East and influenced many Asian countries. American's became afraid of the other powers, and surrendered. Afterwards they regretted the decision and began beating the war drum. The Pentagon demanded new machines of war and called for volunteers. Unfortunately, technological advancement in the U.S was sluggish and the American's never became the super power they had dreamed of. Britain, crippled beyond repair, joined the side of the Soviet's, much to the dismay of the U.S. The Soviet's and the Third Reich are now currently competing for world supremacy."
