Sonic and the Curse of the Sun Stone.
Author's Note: I know this is out of nowhere, with having just started "Sonic, Dr. Eggman Blew up Chris!", but I just couldn't leave this anymore. I was originally going to redo the Sun Stone arc in "Sonic in Between" before I realized it was going to take too long with the Camelot Arc being lengthened until I finish that and try and get back into one-shot short stories for it eventually, and decided to make this into a new story.
Without further ado, let's begin!
I don't own Sonic the Hedgehog. All rights belong to Sega. I only own the OCs.
Prologue: The Story of the Sun Begins.
Ten years ago...
In a dark hallway beneath the Palace of Soleanna, a peaceful Kingdom in the countryside, rested the only source of light that glowed was a yellow and orange stone with flames flickering from within. It was magnificent and beautiful, as most would wonder if it was magical. Some stories were known about this sacred object. Standing in front of the stone was a man in regal uniform indicating that he was the King, dark red hair. With him was a seven year old little girl in white princess clothes, same hair colour with blue eyes, but a face that was a spitting image of her late mother. She is the king's only daughter, the future heir of the Soleanna Throne.
"Look, Elise. This is Solaris, the Flame of the Sun." The King whispered, gesturing his daughter, Elise, to take a closer look.
The seven year old girl gazed at it, her eyes widening in awe with a bright smile. "It's so beautiful."
"Indeed. You remember the story I have told you the other day?"
Elise nodded, now looking a bit nervous. "So...is the Flame of Solaris really bad? Why is it here?"
"Because no one with a dark heart, royalty or not, should ever go near it. Although, I do not think we should worry because no one really comes for the Sun Stone, and only our people within Soleanna know of it." The King explained. "However, should it one day happen, the world may change."
"What should we do, Daddy?" The young Princess asked, worriedly.
Her father bend down onto one knee, and gently placed a hand onto her shoulder. "Only those of the royal blood, not holding a dark heart, will be able to restore the Sun Stone should it shatter into three pieces. If I am not here when the time comes, you will be the only hope to do so."
Elise didn't like the sound of that, shaking her head in fear and growing sorrow, tearing up at the very thought of such a future; all would rely on her should the day come, and her father may not be around to do that. How could she perform such a task if she was all alone? It was terrifying.
"I...I can't. It's too scary. I don't want you to go, Daddy. Mama's gone, and I don't want you to go too." The seven year old girl tearfully pleaded.
The King smiled in sadness, his heart aching to put such a burden on his daughter's shoulders. He gently placed a hand onto her cheek and kissed her on the forehead, before whispering. "You're a good girl, Elise. Remember, be brave. Don't let your fears or sorrow overcome you, no matter what happens."
While still afraid, Elise knew, for a girl her age, would one day rule Soleanna, and she did promise to do her best to be kind to the kingdom, just as her late mother and her father standing before her always did. She didn't want to be alone, but if such a scary event ever did happen, she would have to do her duty, and go on a dangerous quest to save the Kingdom, if not the world.
So she nodded and hugged her father who returned it, as she whispered, "I promise...I love you, Daddy."
"And I love you so much, Elise. No matter where I am, I will always be with you, just like your mother is watching over us." The King whispered back, small traces of tears forming in his eyes as well.
As many sad stories would begin, this would be the final moment of father of daughter the King and Elise would ever share.
Ten years later: During the events of "Sonic in Between-Chapters 3 and 4"...
Within a dark building somewhere hidden in unknown places of Mobius, men in uniforms were working with devices and trackers which were scanning the globe of the planet itself. Similar to GUN HQ, monitors were set up and a satellite was recording what people were doing all over the world, in countries and such. At the very back and top looming over them was a man into his mid-twenties who stood in the dark shadows, his eyes gleaming at the monitors, patiently waiting for something important, something he wanted in his grasp.
"We have reason to believe that the Sun Stone is located in the Kingdom of Soleanna, which according to legend, holds the power of Solaris himself. However, it only comes out into the public once every year in the Festival where the people honor the Sun God." One assistant said as she stood beside the man, the leader of the dark Organization, her eyes hidden within the darkness of her fringe.
The leader hissed with an evil grin on his face, declaring as he issued the order. "Ready our troops. We attack on the night of the Festival, secure the Sun Stone and claim the Kingdom as our own. No harm shall come to the Princess of Soleanna, and no other man should ever touch her. She is mine."
"Yes, sir." The assistant nodded, before being dismissed and walked off to deploy the army.
Left on his own other than the men working on the monitors, the man stared at the large screens above him, holding out his right arm which, in a dim light seemed to be glittering in metal, revealing that it is a robotic arm, replacing the severed limb from unknown sources.
"The Sun Stone's power will soon be mine, and the Princess of the Kingdom...will soon be my Queen." The man chuckled darkly, hissing like a snake. "No one will stop me. No one."
Soon his plans will commence, and no one will stop him.
Except for one brave hero who will soon get unknowingly caught up into the newest threat Mobius will face.
Present day: One month after the events of "Sonic and the Power of the Wisps"...
"WOOOOO! YEAH!" Cheered Sonic the Hedgehog, the hero of Mobius, as he raced through the plains on a continent which was another place that was new to him. It was late afternoon and there was one place he was eager to check out before he would miss it by dark.
Despite that he'd only been back from his adventures with Tails in Isalenna which had been really fun, meeting up with old friends, making new ones, saving a town from an insane cleaner, or former cleaner now, because who knew what was going on with Jeromony Hackler since his shrinking problem, being summoned to the world of King Arthur and saving it while being named as the Knight of the Wind before returning home to Mobius, visiting many zones and towns which went uneventful but Sonic still enjoyed himself, being home for a week became boring and he was itching for another adventure already.
Thus, this was why he decided to go on solo travels again, and found himself here, wanting to check out something very important that happened once every year. Though the hero of Mobius felt a bit bad for not inviting his friends over to join in the festival, but this time he did bring a camera, which he had done since saving the Universe a month ago now, so there'll be plenty of pictures and souvenirs like he and his two-tailed best friend had done and shared to go around.
He reached the top of a hill as the sun was almost completely set, in the distance he saw a magnifcent view as the fields came to an end, and the blue hedgehog felt a smirk grow on his muzzle, before whistling loudly.
"Yeah! Now this is what I'm talkin' about! I love it here! There's plenty of room for me to run around." Sonic said happily, stretching his arms out, breathing in the fresh air, feeling the gentle breeze against his face and quills, and despite the sun disappearing in the horizon with the sky turning into a hue of pink and purple and dark navy blue, he still felt the warmth of the sun itself, stars beginning to become visible.
Sonic then turned his gaze to the sight before him as there stood his destination, the place of new beginnings, the place where his next adventure, besides the one he was currently on just for fun, unknowingly to him, was about to begin.
The place he was about to visit was the Kingdom of Soleanna.
A/N: Again, I just couldn't leave this out any longer since I missed having the Sun Stone Arc in "Sonic in Between" but eventually I realized this was more of a full-length story than a short one with one or two parts. But not to worry, (if Fanfiction is still around) I'll get back to the other new story I've started on and continue my other stories as soon as possible.
See you in the next chapter!
