***
I have a smile
stretched from ear to ear
to see you walking down the road
***

Her beauty was great, her eyes, her lips, her skin, everything about her was wonderful. She was not untouchable, not to everyone, anyway... only to him. She had seen him smile only a few times, but he smiled quite often. He only smiled now when her back was turned, because as long as she couldn't see him, she couldn't snap at him. That's the way he chose to love her, with her never seeing.

***
We meet at the lights
I stare for a while
the world around us disappears
***

He would sit out on her fire escape and watch her till dawn. Weather she was clueless about him there, or choice to act like it didn't matter. He thanked her every night for that. He liked her better when she didn't talk to him. And she liked him better when he didn't talk.

***
it`s Just you and me
on my island of hope
a breath between us could be miles
Let me surround you
my sea to your shore
let me be the calm you seek
***

If she let him, he could be everything she wanted. He could hold her and kiss her, and give her peace. But she would never allow that. He was hated by her, and he knew it. And yet he loved her with everything he was. He would be more then happy waiting for her, but pure happiness was only in her arms, in her bed... in her kiss. This, alas, was a happiness he would never have or fully undertand. Yes, it was a shame.

***
Oh but every time I'm close to you
there's too much I can't say
and you just walk away
***

He had come so close to telling her how he felt. Hut she always found a way to ruin the moment. There had been that moment... he could remember his exact words... "I love you, Sara..in ungrauded moments." Later, he cursed himself. She had given a look that told him all he needed to know.

***
And I forgot
to tell you
I love you
and the night's
too long
and cold here
without you
I grieve in my condition
for I cannot find the words to say I need you so
***

But in some small way... he had told her. He had told her he loved her, although she didn't seem to believe him. He told her every night when she slept. He whispered it when she would walk away from him. He told it to her as he kissed her in his dreams. And yet, she had only ever heard it once.

***
Oh but every time I'm close to you
there's too much I can't say
and you just walk away
***

As he sat there watching her his mind flash with all the times she had turned her back on him, starting with the first. "Had any dreams lately, Sara," he whispered now as she buessied herself in her loft. Since then there had been countless times when she had walked away.

***
And I forgot
to tell you
I love you
and the night's
too long
and cold here
without you
I grieve in my condition
for I cannot find the words to say I need you so
***

So as she turned off the lights and went to bed. He told her. "I love you, Sara." What he didn't hear her say in her sleep was "I love you, Ian."
