Once In A Blue Moon

She sat alone once again in the silence of her bedroom.  Another night without him.  The nights were the hardest.  The bed seemed so empty with only her tiny frame to fill it.  It felt like forever ago that he had left.  Never again to spend the night in her arms.

The room is empty

The lights are dim

And my heart wonders

If I'll ever see you again

From their first night she hoped that he be would always be there.  She had never felt so secure and the thought of him missing from her life forever was heartbreaking.  He had taken her to places that she had never imagined existed and made all her dreams come true.

My tears are hungry

For an open door

When your arms held me

I never felt that way before

The thought of anyone ever being able to fill that place was not possible.  They told her to move on.  That he can't come back but her heart couldn't comprehend such a suggestion.  She knew that they would find a way to be together once again.

I'll be waiting

And I'll be watching

Under a blue moon

The taste of heaven

Will only happen

Once in a blue moon

Would she ever be held that way again?  Did he even remember?  What they gave up and for whom they lost it for?  A love so pure was not for real life but was something written in the paperback novels.  But she had had it, they had had it.  Why had it been so easy to lose?

Do you remember?

The wind blew free

We fit together

So naturally

She knew what she had lost.  A gift so wholesome and free.  She would never attempt to receive such a thing again.  He was her one and only and she would wait until the end of her days to be held again.

I'll be waiting

And I'll be watching

Under a blue moon

The taste of heaven

Will only happen

Once in a blue moon

She didn't want another, only him.  They fought for their life together and if it was the last thing she did she was going to fight again.  A whimper from her side shifted her gaze from the dancing stars.  The eyes of their child widened in joy.  They would last forever in the heart this boy.  Still to be held once more by the arms she trusted most was not dream soon forgotten.

If the wind closes a door

It will open another

And she'll be waiting and watching for a sign from above.  That he was still hers and she his.  Life moves on but the heart never forgets.

I'll be waiting

And I'll be watching

Under a blue moon

The taste of heaven

Will only happen

Once in a blue moon

For something that wonderful can only happen once in a blue moon.

Once in a blue moon
