In the beginning there was only one. He didn't know why he existed or how he existed. He simply knew that he did exist. He was born into nothingness, a vast empty, black space that seemed to stretch beyond the limits of possibility.
Soon he became curious and wondered what hid from him in the vast darkness. So that he might see, he created light and in doing so, he became light; a huge mass of burning light. He became the sun, and he, was Mithros.

For all that Mithros loved himself, and admired his own splendor, he could not help but become lonely. So he thought of a woman that he would create, to keep himself company. But, since he knew he burned with great heat as well as light, he created land on which his woman could live. As he was doing so, he dreamt of the great female and her magnificent features. Her skin would be fair, her hair dark in contrast, her eyes bright and lips full. And she would be tall, serene, and loving.
And when he created her, he created her with great power and she was everything indeed that he had hoped for. He was content for many months, as he could watch her from the sky. And watch her every movement is what he did.
She was not content. She longed to be free from his constant stare. As her powers increased, she created trees to shelter herself from his gaze. Mithros was not pleased, and he created land animals so that he might watch her through their eyes. He had told her that the animals were his gift to her, and she befriended them in under the shade of her trees, unsuspecting.
When she learned the truth, she became furious with Mithros and she shook with such anger that the ground also shook, and cracked open created huge craters. When the quakes ceased, she fillled the holes with water, some with salt, so that the animals might not cross. But Mithros, clever as he was, he created animals of the sea and lake, that might swim. Once again he could see this prescious Goddess.
The Goddess, furious yet again, created the poured out her feelings, creating rain and howling storms of wind and blasts of cold, turning rain to snow and sleet. She joined with the wind, but Mithros created birds so that he might fly along side her. With her options limited, the Goddess made a rash decision.
She created the moon, which circled earth now filled with life. As the moon, she hid from the sun, with the earth placed between them. As Mithros slept the Goddess would rise to watch over the land that she had helped to create and spent her first years. But when he woke, she would retreat into the shadows.
Mithros, furious with her disobedience and deceit, bestowed upon his mortal children a cursed gift. Creatures dreamt of so innocently in sleep came to life and bowed to the mighty God's commands; spidrens and hurrocks alike charged the Goddess. She in turn, sent dreams of great immortal creatures to the creatures that had once been her friends. The Goddess was now able to defend heself with griffins, winged horses and dragons. But after many year of fighting the battles of their creators, and suffering many losses, the beasts turned on their masters.
In self defense, Mithros and his Goddes formed a truce, in which they locked the great immortals into another realm and sealed the gate with great power. On good terms again, the Goddess sometimes made visits to the earth so that she and Mithros might see each other. He now respected her wishes of privacy and sent his blessings to her as the sun to the moon; as brother to sister. And so with his approval, she regained a luminescent sheen that she had first possesed when she had been in Mithros's favour. And so, they watched over the land that they had created, Mithros guiding the land by day, and the Great Mother Goddess by night.
And so, it all began.
