Raven - Corvus Corvex
A distinct black shape, tumbling in the updrafts of a misty mountain crag. A bird of paradox. It is seen at times as a guardian, also as a bird of ill-omen. Its presence at scenes of death makes people look upon it with fear.
In European myths and legends, it is the harbinger of doom and death, but that is far from the whole story...
For many Native American tribes, the raven carries important symbolism. To the Mohawks, it offers help to those who are lost, and carries messages from the spirit world whilst the Navajo believe that two ravens cawing carries a message for those who hear them. They are believed to foretell pain in the future, but that it will be succeeded by happiness.
