In a clearing five miles outside of Konoha, two men fell out of the sky, landing roughly on the grass. A blond man stretched and stood up, brushing the dirt off his already messy clothes. "Shit, that's a rough landing, I'm glad we're never doing this again." A raven-haired man with hair covering his left eye leaned on his sword and he surveyed their surroundings. "We shouldn't have had to do this in the first place you idiot."
"You didn't have to remind me of that, but this was the only option we had left and you know it" Groused Naruto, cursing Sasuke and his pessimism. He hadn't enjoyed living with that for the past year.
"I suppose I should be happy that you can make so many damned shadow clones, even if they do annoy me; You're the only person who could become an unparalleled seal master in the span of a year."
Sasuke turned to look at Naruto, who to his surprise was meditating. It was still odd for him to see Naruto sitting so still, given his energetic disposition. Realising he wouldn't get a reply to his previous statement, he asked the question eating away at him. "How does it feel?"
Still not moving or batting an eyelid, Naruto asked, "How does what feel?" Not sure if he was asking what he thought he was.
"You know, the nature energy"
Ah. Naruto supposed it was fair for him to be asking that. The past year had been spent reconciling their differences, and being cooped up mastering sealing formulas while getting a grasp on their powers. The ninja world had been reduced to rubble, and being the only two left while nature was being destroyed around them had most likely left Sasuke quite interested in how it would feel to feel the energy of life.
"It feels a little bit like I was dying of thirst, and I've just been given access to a lake of clean water"
"That sounds nice. Can you tell me where we've landed?"
"It seems we're only a few miles outside of Konoha, and judging by the signatures there, we're only a few years after we were born, but it's hard to say exactly"
Naruto stood up, with the two of them now looking eye to eye, with Sasuke having sealed his sword.
Sasuke spoke first.
"Let's go"
"Yeah"
