When the punch connected to Kallen's jaw she fell to the ground. A dizzying feeling came over, but it was washed over with anger. As she stood up she took a step back, dizzy. The taste of blood peremating through her mouth, the red headed girl clenched her teeth and tackled her brother. "You can't leave!" she shouted him as she wailed on him. "You can't leave me!"

As they both fell to the ground the fighting became sloppier, with pushing and punching and even nails digging into each other's skins. Eventually the bigger Naoto was able to push his sister off. "I won't stay here! Not any longer! I'm going to find our mother!" he shouted at his sister as he was able to push her off. "Our real mother!"

"Dad already told you, you'll be disinherited!" the young Kallen cried out. "You can't go to Japan, you can't leave dad, you can't leave me alone."

Naoto's face gave his sister a pitying look, but a pitying look enraged the young girl. "Stop looking at me like that! Stop looking and say something Naoto!."

"I'm leaving Kallen, I already told dad. I already gave up the Stadtfeld name. It's over."

A storm of anger coursed through the young girl and the fighting resumed. Fierce, like an animal. Naoto did not know his sister had such instincts in her. By the end of it all even the larger Naoto was bleeding from his nose, after so much noise and commotion some of the servants of the Stadtfeld Manor had come in to stop the fight. It took the captain of the Stadfeld personal guard, an older man named Arthur to stop them both from fighting.

Kallen did not remember what happened after, screaming and crying, with the taste of blood in her mouth she was suddenly in front of a fire place. She did not know when her brother had left, when she had come here, but she knew she would not see her brother for a long time, maybe even forever. For hours melancholy filled her, not even the fireplace could warm the cold that she felt. None of the maids could get her to move, not even Arthur's wise words could remedy the situation, he put his coat over her, but still the coldness did not recede.

When Kallen's family gained wealth their household had increased in size. The old manor had been smaller, but warmer. This new one was far too large, far too cold, and even emptier without her brother. "Dear, they've told me you have been here all night."

It was Kallen's dad, finally arriving from work, late at night. The senior of the household looked at his daughter, in his eyes a pang of guilt. "You must rest, Kallen, you'll be heading to Pendragon tomorrow. I know it is not easy but you must carry on." he said, sitting next to her.

But the cold did not recede. "I don't want to go." she said, her voice oddly calm. "I don't want to go to that stupid academy, not anymore."

"Kallen, as the heir of the Statdfeld family-"

"I don't want to be the heir!" tears ran down her cheeks once, but her voice remained emotionless. "It's Naoto, not me. He's the heir. Why did you let him go, why did you let him go, why didn't you stop him?"

Her father tried to console her, but they may as well have been empty words as the tears continued, the coldness overwhelmed Kallen, and the fire could not warm her.
