Blue Valley has changed ever since the Avengers and JSA came together with the other superheroes and defenders of reality from across the multiverse and saving their universe. Their lives were altered just a slightly bit, but enough to make some big changes to their lives...
"Six months ago, the Avengers and Justice Society of America re-emerged, they were reborn. A new group of heroes appeared and fought to keep the city of Blue Valley and its people safe from the likes of the Dark Avengers and the Injustice Society of America. But with the defeat of the teams and its members, came at a cost. A cloud of Terrigenesis flooded the little town; people fell sick, being imprisoned in strange cocoons. Only to emerge with dangerous, otherworldly powers. With no cure, the disease seems to be spreading throughout the city. Others are beginning to question; Are these new Avengers and JSA the New Generation of Justice or are they a threat? But through this tragedy is hope. George Tarleton, founder of Advanced Idea Mechanics, thinks that science is the solution to our problems."
"I wish I had the answers to these current answers about the people claiming to be the new Avengers and Justice Society, whether they're a threat or help. I don't have those answers, but I can promise you, I will do whatever I can to make you, the residents of Blue Valley, safe." George comments on camera whilst on the streets, his robots that are designed to contain powered individuals called Sentinels are everywhere, interacting with people and keeping them safe. "AIM will find a cure for this disease."
"Comforting words that were torn apart by the disease. But is he too confident? Others claim that this cure is not only unnecessary, but a lie."
Suddenly, an arm turns off the television, cutting the news off. "She's one of them, Martha, she needs help." Jacob tells his wife, regarding their step-daughter who has been revealed to be a mutant.
"But how could you register her with that Mutant Control Agency as if she was some criminal?" Martha asks him.
"The agency isn't a prison, Martha. It's an outreach program to help these unfortunate people. It's for her own good." Jacob explains and hugs his wife. "You know I love her."
"But what will happen to her now?"
"I don't know. But let's just hope the neighbors never find out Jubilee's a mutant."
Upstairs, the said Jubilation "Jubilee" Lee overheard their conversation and walks back up the stairs and is confused herself.
'Why is this happening to me?' Jubilee asks herself. 'It's not my fault.'
Outside, one of AIM's Sentinels lands outside their home and has located Jubilee and registers her as a threat.
"What if we were wrong?" Martha asks. "What if she isn't a mutant?"
"Are you kidding?" Jacob asks and leads her to the kitchen. "Look at what she did to the microwave just by touching it." He says and shows that it's become completely scorched just by her touch.
The Sentinel makes its way towards their home and warms up its systems to capture her.
"Tell me the truth, are you sorry we took her in?" Martha asks him.
"Of course not." Jacob promises as the Sentinel blasts a hole in the side of the home where Jubilee's bedroom is.
"Identification error. Non-living objects." The Sentinel notices, seeing Jubilee is not home. "Begin tracking program."
The said Jubilee left after her parent's talk and decided to go out to clear her head. Her walk led her to the mall as the Sentinel is tracking her movements. The Sentinel tracked her signature to the mall and begins to terrorize people tracking down Jubilee.
Jubilee begins to run away when the Sentinel shoots out Dyneema fiber cables from is arms that wraps around her.
"Help!" Jubilee cries out when something comes in and attaches itself to the back of the Sentinel.
"Hey! Robocop!" The two turn to see Spider-Man as he comes swinging and kicked the Sentinel in the face.
It's other hand suddenly gets wrapped up in Crimson Bands Of Cyttorak, followed by Joey coming out wearing his Dr. Strange attire. What was behind him seemed to be the Seven Rings of Raggadorr incarnation.
"Dr. Strange, Sorcerer Supreme, commands you to release her!" Joey demands as Star Girl comes flying in on her Cosmic Staff with a look of confusion towards Joey.
"That's what you're going with for your introduction?" Courtney asks Joey.
"I was up all night working on it. Let me have this." Joey whispers to her.
"Whatever." Courtney shrugs when the Sentinel scans the three members.
"Unidentified mutants. Ignore." The Sentinel says and gets ready to leave when Courtney uses the staff to blast and cut the rope holding Jubilee as she beings to fall.
All of a sudden, Spider-Man came back and went running before leaping into the air and catching Jubilee. "I got ya!"
The Sentinel begins to open fire on them as Joey flew down and creates an Eldritch Magic Manipulation spell to make a shield that protects them.
Courtney takes this opportunity to charge up her Staff and sends a beam to smack the Sentinel flying backwards.
"Wait here." Peter tells Jubilee as he leaps off and begins to web the Sentinel down.
"What is this thing?" Courtney asks.
"It seems to be one of AIM's Sentinels. But upgraded." Peter took a wild guess when the Sentinels hands begin to warm up a laser. "Look out!" He warns her as the lasers are fired and sending them flying.
Jubilee goes off running as Joey holds the Sentinel back when it blasts the ground and the two go falling.
Joey is caught by his cloak to levitate down slowly as Jubilee is suddenly caught by Wild Cat who leaped down and catches Jubilee.
"Going somewhere?" Yolanda asks as she lands on her feet and lets her down.
"Anywhere but here." Jubilee answers as the Sentinel locates them.
"Stand aside. I must apprehend the mutant." The Sentinel tells them when shots come flying in and they're met with Teresa flying in with her wings out.
"Apprehend this!" Teresa says as she begins to shoot the machine, trying to find a weak spot within the newer Sentinel. "Apprehend this? Really, that's the best I've got?"
"I'm out of here." Jubilee states as she races off, leaving them to fight off the Sentinel who immediately finishes off the others and follows Jubilee who hides behind a board, the best she could do in the area. "Please don't see me. Please don't see me."
Suddenly, Iceman comes in and creates an ice slide then begins to shoots at the Sentinel to freeze it in place. But everyone is shocked as they look like the Sentinel begins to warm up from the inside and grabs Bobbie at the neck.
"Unregistered mutant. Expendable." The Sentinel states.
"Who you calling expendable?" Bobbie asks while trying to get himself free from the Sentinel, but his powers are useless against it as it's burning through his abilities.
"Get away from him!" Jubilee demands as Bobbie looks to face her and watches as she shoots...fireworks from her hands.
The fireworks come flying in and knocks the Sentinel off of Bobbie and starts getting webbed to the ground by Spider-Man.
"Run!" Peter yells to Jubilee who races out of the mall just as the Sentinel gets back up and is being held back by the team.
Jubilee makes her way outside and runs through the parking lot. "I didn't ask to be a mutant! I didn't hurt anyone. Why is this happening to me?"
Another Sentinel comes up and shoots a smoke grenade which blinds Jubilee as she breaths it in when she comes up across someone else.
"Who are you?" Jubilee asks.
"Quake." Daisy answers as Ironheart comes flying in and takes aim at the Sentinel. "Get down!" She tells Jubilee as they get out of the way for Riri to fight off the robot with an EMP pulse that sent it calling.
"I...don't have a choice." Jubilee slurs as she falls unconscious just as America Chavez catches her.
Riri then takes aim for the weak spot on the Sentinel's neck while it's down and quickly blasts it, causing the whole head of the robot to fall off and shut down.
"Guys, we need an evac." Riri contacts the other team members.
Abandoned S.H.I.E.L.D. bunker: location, classified
When Jubilee wakes up again, she finds herself within some strange bunker and sees she's hooked up to medical equipment she accidentally explodes with her powers.
"I gotta get out of here." Jubilee says as she heads towards the door to see a lock on it. "Okay. Just aim and...zap!" Jubilee says as she covers her eyes with one hand and aims her finger at the lock only for nothing to happen. "Come on do something!"
She gives it another try for it to finally work; she then makes it through the halls to see a stand filled with spare outfits for the JSA and Avengers and she realizes she's at their headquarters.
The place looked like something out of a futuristic rundown bunker with a bunch of rooms with specific symbols on the doors for the heroes.
An iron heart on one door, followed by a spider, a white star, and more going on and on for most of the Avengers and JSA members.
"Wow..."
Jubilee walks on through the halls to try and find her way out when she comes across an elevator and takes it to the upper levels.
Seeing it's still empty, she keeps going through them when she hears footsteps coming and quickly gets out to hide.
"Well, that wasn't our best, but it wasn't our worst." Courtney comments as she and Peter walk ahead of everyone else as they stroll through their new base.
"What was our worst?" Bobbie asks.
"Probably somewhere during our first missions." Peter supposes.
"That's a good point." Bobbie agrees.
"Hey, we were good enough to help save the multiverse if you recall." Scott states as they keep walking until they reached the common room where they have a tv setup and a few gaming systems.
"Scott, you have never stopped reminding us about it." MJ informed him.
"Somebody needs to go check on our guest downstairs." Wanda tells them.
"Is she really a guest considering we kinda kidnapped her?" Yolanda asks.
"It was either we get her somewhere safe, or let that giant robot take her like all the others." MJ defends their actions.
"This shocking incident at Blue Valley Mall is just part of the growing menace of mutating violence." The news begins to say.
"It's because of idiots like him that we have to keep doing this." Robbie states.
"Was this girl kidnapped by the JSA and Avengers? Film at 10."
With that, Yolanda just turns it off. "Yeah, like we were saying."
"Sure, we get in trouble for rescuing someone, but AIM can kidnap all the Mutants and Inhumans out there whether they be normal everyday people or just kids." Beth says.
"Well, we kinda did cloud the city with this stuff." Pietro commented as he sped to the couch after first raiding the kitchen for snacks.
"Yeah, sorry about that." Daisy apologizes.
"It was either a cloud of mist to cover the city or the entire planet; it was a pick your poison situation." Joey assures her.
"Look, guys, we need to step up our game. She's the first of the new Mutants we have been able to save. Clint and Kate are still trying to learn what they're doing to them, but only learned so far that they're being taken to some offsite location, and we have to find and rescue them from where they're holding captive." Courtney states as the Staff glows in agreement.
"Yeah, I'm with Court." Teresa agreed.
"Should we? I mean, Jessica's off doing something for the Lantern Corp, Jane has left for Asgard, we're kinda missing a few power players." Wanda reminds them.
"Says the woman who can mind manipulate people, levitate objects and more." Riri scoffed while removing her helmet and letting her hair flow freely.
Peter was about to add something when his senses went off. "Guys, where's the girl?"
Jubilee took this as her time to keep going to find a way out as Pietro sped down to see she escaped. She makes it over to what she thinks is the exit only to find herself in the HARM room. Lasers, wreckage, and more come flying at her as Jubilee tries to avoid it all.
"I think I was better off with the robot." Jubilee comments and is almost crushed when she's suddenly saved by America Chavez who's holding up the device.
"What are you doing here?!" Chavez asks, trying to keep the wreckage from crushing her just as Rick comes in. "Oh, there you are."
"What, did you miss me?" Rick asks as the two runs at each other and fist bump, sending the two of them flying in the opposite directions and trying to avoid getting crushed by the debris.
Finally, Rick gets Chavez just where he wanted her just for jubilee to blast fireworks at him.
"Ow." Rick says just as the room shuts down and the doors open.
"What's going on?" Courtney asks.
"The new girl all right?" Peter asks, more concerned about her since he knows that their team members can take a punch.
"She's fine. Now ask me how I'm doing." Rick dares.
"How you doing, Ricky?" Pietro asks casually.
"Shut up, Speed Runner." Rick demands as he gets up.
"They were fighting, and I wanted to help." Jubilee explains, causing a few of the team members to lightly chuckle.
"Don't worry, you probably just hurt Hourman's pride." Chavez reassured her.
"What is this place?" Jubilee questions.
"It's sometimes a gymnasium, sometimes a survival course, but we just call it the HARM room." Peter explains to her as best he can.
"Why don't we talk, and I'll explain who we are." Courtney says and leads Jubilee out of the room.
"Well, I think that went well." Peter says and everyone looks mad at him.
Courtney led Jubilee through the base and then up to a place where she could see outside, but it was disguised as a stone.
"We are, as you might've guessed, the JSA and Avengers." Courtney says and removes her mask. "I'm Courtney, but in costume I'm Star Girl. And you're a Mutant."
"Okay, what is a Mutant exactly?" Jubilee asks.
"Mutants are people with special abilities, born into their DNA. Not to be confused with Inhumans who sort of are the same, but they require something to access their powers." Courtney recalled what A.M.I explained to them what they are. "The Mutants with powers discover them around...well, our age. Inhumans can suddenly become powerful at any moment in their lives. And I don't think I got your name?"
"Oh, I'm Jubilee." Jubilee greets her and then throws her arms out like a child would. "I...blow stuff up."
"Well, you wouldn't be the first." Courtney assured her. "It's just that...we don't really know what we're doing. With what happened, we brought you here to actually heal and have A.M.I look you over."
"Who's A.M.I?" Jubilee asks.
"Hello." The artificial intelligence suddenly greeted them, causing Jubilee to scream and hide behind Courtney. "I am A.M.I. An Artificial Multifaceted Intelligence."
"She does that." Courtney calms her down. "Truth be told, we've never gotten this far in this war."
"War against who?" Jubilee asks in concern as Courtney leads her to the command room.
"AIM." Courtney stated and led her into a room with a table that had both the Avengers and JSA symbol and logo mashed together and most of the members were wandering around the room or on the couch watching tv. "AIM are not who they say they are. They say they're trying to cure Mutants and Inhumans...they're lying."
"Then are they doing to the people they take?" Jubilee asks in concern as Peter approaches.
"We have no idea." Peter confesses. "You're the first of powered individuals we were able to save from their grasp. Some of them didn't want our help, or we were too slow to rescue." He then smiles and holds his hand out. "Hey, I'm Peter Richards. Spider-Man."
"Hey, guys. We've got something." Riri called their attention to the bigger screen and pulls up some of the footage from the battle with the Sentinel and on the side of the screen had a photo of Jubilee with all of her personal information. "Me and A.M.I managed to retrieve this from the Robocop's memory. Notice something wrong?"
"Nope. Seems like a standard murderous kidnapping robot screen." Scott shrugs while eating out of a bag of chips, getting them all over his Ant-Man suit.
"The ID photographs came from the Mutant Control Agency registration files." Riri informed them. "That's how these robots are finding them all."
"The government did go on record and say this is an AIM registered program." Beth told them.
"So, someone inside of AIM has a hidden agenda with these people." Rick sees their theory is confirmed.
"What about Jubilee's parents? Think they might go after them?" Pietro asks them while polishing his goggles.
"Nah, I'm sure they'll be..." Riri promises and looked back to see someone's missing. "Where is Jubilee?"
"What do you mean? She's right..." Courtney gestured to her side only to see she's gone, and they saw the doors controls were destroyed by an explosion of power.
"Oh, great..." Daisy sighs.
Monica Rappaccini, the current face of AIM, was currently at Jubilee's home talking with her stepparents.
"Do you know if your daughter has been in contact with any other people with powers like them?" Monica asks them and shows a photo of the Avengers and JSA. "Anyone who looks like anyone here."
"We don't really know much about her friends." Jacob admits as Martha clings to him for support.
"She's only been with us for a year. A foster child." Martha explains. "Always kept to herself, never got into much trouble."
Jubilee had made it back to Blue Valley, which was in walking distance of the secret base, and was making it home.
What she didn't notice was that there were Sentinels searching for her and began to close in on her.
Jubilee quickly used her powers to try and blast them away but noticed that they've already adapted to her attacks.
Jubilee then takes off running, trying to lose them, and sees she's just down the street from her home only to run into the arms of another Sentinel which released the same knockout gas and causes her to pass out.
"Target apprehended."
Monica then strolls over and sees the unconscious Mutant. "Excellent."
Teresa was trying to locate Jubilee only to have watched as she was thrown into an MCU truck as it drove off. "Guys, we've got a situation."
