**I do not own the song "Endless Night" from the Broadway Original Soundtrack to the Lion King. I do not own Star Gazer, she bleongs to my friend. However, I own Sharpshooter. Please do not use them without permission.

* Where has the starlight gone?
Dark is the day.
How can I find my way home?
Home is an empty dream.
Lost to the night.
Father I feel so alone...*
Sharpshooter sat on a park bench. She was staring at a tree, but didn't seem to really see it. She was too lost in thought to even hear her friend come up behind her.
"Youse okay?" asked Star Gazer.
"Wha... Ya, I's is fine." she stammered.
Star looked at her. "Youse was t'inkin' 'bout yer fadder again, right?" she asked.
Sharp let out a sigh. "Ya. I can't help but t'ink 'bout him sometimes."
Star looked at her, knowing that her friend had had a rough time when her father died. She had just turned seven when he died. Star had known Sharp for a long time. Sense they were five. Star patted her on the shoulder and left her friend to her thoughts.
*You promised you'd be there
Whenever I needed you
Whenever I call your name
Your not anywhere
I'm tryin' to hold on
Just waiting to hear your voice
One word, just a word will do
To end this nightmare*
"Daddy, fly me! Fly me!" she called out as a young girl.
"Anytime sweety." her father replied.
As her father spun her around in the air they both laughed.
"You never have to worry as long as I'm here." he promised to her.
*When will the dawning brake
Oh, endless night
Sleepless I dream of the day
When you were by my side
Guiding my path
Father I can't find the way*
A black carriage pulled up to the door step of Sharp's house. Men in black suits stepped out and went into the house. As they came out the were carrying a casket. Sharp sat on her steps and cried as they pulled away with her father's body.
*You promised you'd be there
Whenever I needed you
Whenever I call your name
Your not anywhere
I'm tryin' to hold on
Just waiting to hear your voice
One word, just a word will do
To end this nightmare.*
As Sharp stood at the foot of her father's grave, she tried hard not to cry, but it was in vain. Her tears feel down the side of her cheek, and down her face. The inscription on the headstone read:
Peter Riley
November 8, 1851 - July 23, 1892
Died from heart attack
*I know that the night must end
And that the sun will rise
And that the sun will rise
I know that the clouds must clear
And that the sun will shine
And that the sun will shine
I know that the night must end
And that the sun will rise
And that the sun will rise
I know that the clouds must clear
And that the sun will shine
And that the sun will shine
I know
Yes, I know
The sun will rise
Yes, I know
I know
The clouds must clear*
Sharp got up off the park bench. It was dark by now. The stars were out, and the moon was shining bright. She headed back to the lodging house. Sharp looked up at the sky. One star caught her eye. It was near the moon. Brighter than any other star in the sky. It gave her a feeling of comfort. She knew that she would be alright in the end, even though the hole in her heart was still there, and the pain she still felt.
*I know that the night must end
I know that the sun will rise
And I'll hear your voice deep inside
I know that the night must end
And that the clouds must clear
The sun
The sun will rise
The sun
The sun will rise
