Chapter 1: The first concerns

Roman had seemed off lately.

Patton had been the first to notice at breakfast. After a few wordless looks exchanged between the two, it had appeared that Logan had noticed as well. Like two parents, their eyes spoke wordlessly and a nod was shared between the two. Patton turned to the prince, who was looking rather un-princely with his messy hair and 'prince-eric-esk' loose shirt hanging around his frame.

"Hey, Roman?"

"Hm?" He looked up from his fruit loops, spoon hanging out of his mouth as if surprised to be noticed at all.

A coughing and the clatter of a spoon came from Virgil, who had to clear his throat to stop himself from choking on his own cereal at the sight. Of course, Roman looked adorable. No one could handle it when a side was sporting their own messy look. It was an uncommon appearance for the sides, except for Virgil, who had the opposite effect and had a tendency to surprise the sides when he dressed in something other than his signature hoodie or a halloween looking outfit.

Logan gave a small eye roll at Virgil's coughing, short of Roman, Virgil had a tendency to have more dramatic reactions to different things. Of course all three of the sides had a tendency to have more dramatic reactions when it came to the logical side's opinions. Giving a small nod to Patton's concerned look aimed at the anxious side, Logan reached over and proceeded to pat the anxious side on the back to help him while Patton returned his attention to the prince with a very 'supportive dad' kind of smile.

"We've noticed you've seemed a bit… distracted the past couple days. You hardly come out of your room lately. Is there anything we can help with, kiddo?"

Rubbing his face in order to hide the very subtle blush and silently hoping to rub it away as he sent small glances toward Virgil and Logan, the latter asking if the anxious side was alright as he recovered from his coughing fit, before meeting Patton's eyes.

"I'm completely fine." Giving one of his more charming smiles, the creative side gave his excuse. "I've simply been occupied with the overwhelming amount of ideas lately for Thomas. Nothing to worry about. However I do have my hands full so if you excuse me."

Not noticing the small looks Patton and Logan shared as the prince stood and brought his half eaten bowl of fruit loops to the sink and cleaned it before definitely rushing gracefully towards his room, not at all in a hurry. Virgil had finally caught his breath and drank some water as a silent conversation flickered between the other two sides.

"Virgil, would you mind aiding me in cleaning the dishes and looking over my plans I've designed in order to help Thomas with some upcoming events we have planned and let me know if I've missed anything you think we should be more cautious about?" Logan asked, standing from his place.

"Oh… uh, sure Logan."

"Have fun, kiddo's!" Patton smiled a dazzling, fatherly smile as the two stood and stepped into the kitchen.

Taking the chance while Logan distracted Virgil, the fatherly side stood and made his way toward Roman's room. He had to find out what was bothering the creative side so much. Reaching the door, Patton raised a hand and gave three knocks. Not loud enough to sound upset but not soft enough that they wouldn't be heard. After a few seconds with no response, Patton took the doorknob in his hand and turned it.

"Roman? I'm respecting your privacy by knocking but exerting my authority as your father by coming in anyway." he called and opened the door to find the room empty.

The aesthetic of the room was very colorful. Bright red walls and a golden carpet. The furniture looked as if it came out of a fairy tail with wood that had a golden tint to it. The bed was a four poster bed with red bed sheets with golden stitching and the shield that Thomas had chosen to be the symbol for the creative side was displayed on the headboard. The whole bed had a red canopy hanging across from the posts and over the top of the bed.

Patton set his hands on his hips and scratched his head. Roman had gone into his room, right? The morality side thought for a few moments before snapping his fingers. Of course! The creative side was probably in his realm. The area he had created to be his fantasy land where he could let loose while he decided on which ideas were best for Thomas. If Roman was in his realm, it added to his excuse of being so overworked lately with all his ideas.

The fatherly side nodded to himself as he walked over to a door on the other side of the room. This door led to Roman's realm and Patton was sure he could at least head in and double check to make sure there wasn't something he could help with. Surely, Patton could also make up a batch of his super special, super yummy double chocolate chunk cookies for Roman to boost his energy and make sure he was eating something while working so hard.

Opening the door, Patton gave a proud smile at the sight ahead of him. The realm looked just like a beautiful landscape from a story book. Beautiful lush green fields with large trees. A huge crystal blue lake surrounded by huge green trees of every variety. And in the center of everything sat a large castle modeled after the Disney castle itself, which Patton remembered Roman gushing over proudly as he showed off his realm to the other sides.

"Well, Patton." he said to himself. "Roman needs our help and we gotta be a good dad and head over and offer him our help!"

With a pep in his step, Patton started his way across the lush green field towards the castle.
