Coruscant

Afternoon

In what had once been the Supreme Chancellor's office, a meeting was taking place. Mon Mothma sat at the desk that had for so many years belonged to the Emperor, standing behind her was Admiral Ackbar. Sitting in front of the desk in three seats were Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Leia Organa.

"So your smuggler friends still refuse to work with us?" Mon asked as she frowned at Han.

"They'll come around. Look, these guys are business men. Until they can figure out what they gain from this, they're not gonna change from their current activities to straight shipping. Plus, recent events have them all spooked," Han explained.

"You mean how women all throughout the galaxy have suddenly developed unnatural strength," Ackbar muttered.

Leia shifted, feeling Han tense beside her as Luke looked away. It had been two months since Leia and a number of women throughout the galaxy had developed these strange powers. No one knew what the cause of it was; Luke had tried looking into The Force but had come up empty. But whatever the case, it was a problem. For every one like Leia who seemed to have been gifted with these abilities, there seemed to be a dozen more who were either terrified of these powers or used them for their own selfish purposes.

Which wasn't even the biggest problem. There were rumors that the Empire was recruiting these women. And it was the worst nightmare of everyone in the newly formed New Republic, as they seemed to be on the verge of victory before this.

"Well, yeah, but there have also been…rumors," Han said, breaking Leia out of her troubled thoughts.

"What kind of rumors?" Mon asked as everyone gave Han their undivided attention.

"I'm not sure how trustworthy this is, the guy I talked to heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend. But there's been talk of the Empire reorganizing. Allegedly, there's someone new in charge. Someone we haven't fought before," Han explained.

"Han, did they give any clues to who this might be?" Leia asked her mind racing.

"No. Like I said, no one knows if it's true or not," Han explained.

"But they're waiting to see if it is before they make a commitment," Luke immediately realized.

"That would be my guess," Han agreed not able to fight a grimace.

"Regardless, we may soon be dealing with more than one new problem," Mon noted and a silence descended on the room.

Luke opened his mouth to speak when he felt an unexpected ripple in The Force, warning him of danger. Luke immediately jumped to his feet, pulling out his lightsaber and igniting the green blade. The others were startled as Luke looked around the room wildly.

"Luke, what's wrong?" Leia inquired, feeling how tense Luke was from their connection.

"I'm not sure," Luke admitted not relaxing his guard.

Barely had the words left Luke's lips when a portal seemed to burst open, separating the trio from Mon and Ackbar. The five of them each stepped back as three women jumped out of the portal, which quickly closed behind them.

"Well, guess I can check that off my bucket list," Faith quipped.

"F, eyes front," Buffy said as she realized they were not alone.

As Willow and Faith saw the people assembled in front of them, the group overcame their shock. Han pulled his blaster on them and Luke tried to use The Force to push them all against the walls. However, Willow, as if sensing what Luke was about to do, held out a hand to match his power. Her eyes flashed white and, to the surprise of those who knew him, Luke was thrown back and hit the wall.

Seeing his friend thrown across the room, Han signaled to Mon and Ackbar to duck and they jumped under the desk as Han opened fire on the three women. Willow used her powers to push Buffy and Faith aside before holding up her hand, stopping the blaster bolts in midair. Han lowered his blaster, staring in shock.

"What in the kriff?" Han muttered in disbelief.

Willow waved a hand and the blaster bolts disappeared as Luke pulled himself to his feet.

"So, you wanna shoot at us some more or can we talk like adults now?" Buffy asked sarcastically.

"You'll have to excuse us, but you did just appear out of nowhere. Forgive us for being a little…weary," Luke said as he eyed Willow with an unreadable look on his face.

"They've got a point B. How would you have reacted?" Faith pointed out and Buffy paused.

"Okay, fair," Buffy acknowledged.

"Are you a Jedi?" Luke inquired as he glanced at Willow curiously.

"No, and I don't know what this," Willow said with an apologetic smile. "I'm a witch."

"Are you from Dathomir?" Mon asked wearily as she and Ackbar pulled themselves out from under the desk.

"No. Also don't know what that is," Faith said.

"So you are not a Nightsister," Ackbar muttered and Willow shook her head.

"No. This is going to sound very strange, but we're not from this world," Willow started to explain.

"Yeah, none of us are. What planet are you from?" Han asked and three pairs of eyes looked at him sharply.

"I'm sorry, planet?" Buffy blurted out in shock.

"Shit Red, what dimension did you take us to?" Faith asked as she glanced at Willow.

"Maybe you should start at the beginning," Luke suggested.

Willow nodded, eying Luke curiously. He had power, that she was able to sense from his attempt to push her. But he didn't have magic; there was something…else about him. But Willow figured she'd have time to ask question later before beginning to tell their tale.

"This is going to sound hard to believe. But we come from a planet called Earth. You've probably never heard of it because it exists in a different dimension," Willow explained

"How can you be certain of this?" Mon inquired.

"Because in our world, traveling to other planets isn't common," Buffy explained to their shock.

"We also don't have fish men or whatever you are," Faith said, glancing at Ackbar before pausing. "Do we?"

"Not that I've seen," Buffy shrugged.

"From what I see here, you're at least a few centuries ahead of us in terms of technology," Willow said as she glanced around the room, seeing the futuristic technology.

"Okay, so if you're from another dimension, how did you get here?" Han demanded, beginning to wonder if he'd gotten drunk and was now hallucinating.

"Magic, like you just saw," Willow said as she turned to him. "I used magic to take us here."

"Why would you do that?" Leia asked, speaking for the first time since their guests had arrived.

"It's a long story," Willow said, glancing at her before freezing.

Leia eyed her curiously as Willow stared long and hard at Leia. The feeling she got from Leia, it was exactly like-

"No," Willow breathed as the realization set in.

"Will?" Buffy called out concern as they all eyed her in confusion.

"When did it happen?" Willow asked.

"When did what happen?" Leia asked, wondering what Willow was talking about.

"When did you get your powers?" Willow asked and the room was stunned into silence.

"Red, what are you talking about?" Faith asked as the others had tensed, wondering how Willow could possibly know about that.

"She's a Slayer," Willow declared, to the shock of Buffy and Faith.

"You know what happening to Leia, to all these women?" Mon asked and Willow, Faith and Buffy paled.

"All of them?" Buffy asked weakly.

"What have we done?" Willow asked her voice to more than a whisper.

"Okay, would someone explain what the Kiff is going on?!" Han exploded, sensing they knew more about what was happening than they were letting on.

"It's a complicated story," Faith said as she ran a hand over her face, wondering how they could possibly explain this.

"Well one of you is gonna start talking, and soon," Han snapped as he looked around at the three women suspiciously.

"Han, please," Leia said softly, reaching out and taking his hand before looking at three women. "You'll have to forgive my fiancé. But he's right; you do seem to know what's going on. And I got my…abilities I guess you could say two months ago. And I wasn't the only one; multiple other women throughout the galaxy also acquired these abilities."

"You know how it happened, don't you?" Luke realized.

"I did. I did this," Willow said, all but collapsing into a nearby chair, looking dazed.

"What is she talking about?" Mon demanded, looking at Buffy and Faith suspiciously. "Did she do this?"

"Not just her. We all did it," Buffy sighed, running a hand through her hair as she tried to figure out a way to put it into words. "It's a complicated story. But it starts with me."

"And me to I guess," Faith shrugged and Buffy nodded.

"With us," Buffy admitted. "My name is Buffy Summers, this is Faith Lehane, and that is our friend Willow. We come from a different dimension, on a planet called Earth. It's populated mostly by humans and animals. But also by magic. And, unknown to everyone except a small part of the population, it's filled with demons."

"Demons," Han repeated, looking at them in disbelief.

"I know how it sounds, trust me. I had the same reaction when I found out, but it's true," Buffy assured him.

"We've got the scars to prove it," Faith added.

"On our world, in every generation, what's called a Slayer is chosen, called to defend the humans from demons and vampires and the lot," Buffy explained.

"I'm assuming you're a Slayer?" Leia asked and Buffy nodded. "So how can I be one if you are?"

"Like I said, complicated," Buffy said with a grimace.

"But you know how all these women are becoming Slayers," Luke noted and Buffy nodded.

"A few months ago, we were fighting this thing called The First Evil. We got desperate," Buffy said before glancing at Willow. "Willow's not just a witch; she's the most powerful witch in our dimension. She used a special Scythe to turn all Potentials, many of whom were with us at the time, into Slayers, so we could defeat The First Evil's army, and that's why we got so many Slayers."

"Timing sure matches up," Faith pointed out and Buffy nodded.

For a long moment, the room was silent. Then, an angry voice spoke up.

"Do you have any idea what you have done?" Ackbar almost sneered, trembling in rage.

"We had no idea Willow's spell would affect other dimensions," Buffy tried to explain.

"It doesn't matter," Luke sighed, glancing at his sister solemnly. "Leia is a good person, one of the best I've ever known. But there are many women throughout the galaxy who aren't as virtuous as she is. From what you say, Willow's spell doesn't take into account the kind of person you are."

"So we could be dealing with potential bounty hunters or criminals who are getting unnatural strength. Nice job ladies," Han said sarcastically.

"They're right," Willow said with a sigh, coming out of her daze. "We were so focused on just surviving; we didn't take into account how many threats we might be making."

"We had to Will, the First was going to destroy the world," Buffy argued.

"How many times have you argued you didn't want to be drawn into this battle, how many times have you said how hard it is for you to be the Slayer Buffy? How many young girls do you think are feeling that same pressure right now?" Willow asked and Buffy paused, as if she hadn't been thinking about that until that moment. "We stopped The First, but we might have unleashed something worse."

"I think that's a fair statement," Mon said as she looked at them sadly. "I understand you were in a difficult position, but you've not only affected your world, but ours for the worst. We had been fighting a civil war for the last few decades against a tyrannical government known as the Galactic Empire. We were on the verge of victory until your spell created all these Slayers. And now there are rumors that the Empire is recruiting these women to fight for them."

"What did we do?" Faith asked, the full consequences of their actions hitting her.

Buffy remained silent, thinking it over. At the time, she had simply wanted to defeat The First, to prove to everyone that they could beat it. Even with all the new Slayers popping up, she had been so sure it was worth it. Now, she wasn't so sure anymore.

"I'm sure we have much to discuss about this, but you obviously didn't come here to tell us this," Luke said, breaking Buffy out of her thoughts.

"No, no we didn't," Buffy said as Willow got to her feet.

"It's complicated but the source of all magic in our dimension was damaged in a fight with an evil sorcerer. All magic is going to fade from our dimension, which will cause a lot of problems," Willow explained. "I need to repower it with a new power source, but it had to come from another dimension. I tracked one here, so we came to find it."

"The Force," Luke muttered, knowing it was true.

"The what?" Faith asked as the newcomers looked at him oddly.

"It's an energy that exists in this dimension in all living things. Jedi like myself are able to harness its power to accomplish a wide range of things. I think you sensed The Force," Luke explained.

"And I'm guessing we can't just take a piece of The Force back home," Buffy said with a sigh.

"No. But I think I can teach you how to harness its power, so you might be able to repower this power source yourself," Luke said as he glanced at Willow. "But it will take time."

"Time isn't exactly a luxury we have," Buffy argued but Willow shook her head.

"No, we do. I can send us back home seconds after we left," Willow said, stunning her friends.

"Damn Red, you're just showing off now," Faith muttered and Willow smiled.

"In the meantime, we can stick around, try and fix the mess we've helped make. If you'll let us," Buffy said and the five former Rebels looked at each other wearily.

"I will have to discuss it with the rest of the leaders of The New Republic. But you may stick around while Luke can begin your instruction. I'm sure that we can use another Jedi," Mon said, looking at Willow.

Buffy almost sighed. One way or another, it seems she was back to taking orders from a bunch of people she didn't know. But, until Willow had enough knowledge of The Force to repower the Seed, they didn't have a choice. They were stuck here.

Some bits of this chapter were taken from Aragorn's 'Heroes, Vampires and Slayers' with his permission.

Buffy's plan in Chosen was, at best, shortsighted. While I cut her a bit of slack due to the situation there were, making every potential in the world a Slayer causes a wide variety of problems. Even removing the Faith and Dana's of the world from the equation, most people who suddenly find themselves with extraordinary abilities will use them for their own benefit and not responsibly. And then there's the fact that Buffy also enlisted hundreds of girls, at minimum, into a life of demon fighting without their consent. The whole thing is just problematic. But, as I said I cut Buffy some slack because she was between a rock and a hard place.
