Surf
After Eddy got Crobat and Absol back from the nurse, the Eds exit the Pokemon Center.
"Okay, boys, now what?" asked Eddy.
"Well, our next destination is Canalave City. Now that we have the Relic Badge, we can use the Surf app on the Poketch, which is our only way of getting there." said Edd.
"All right, boys. Onward to Canalave City." said Eddy. Edd was scratching his chin in thought.
"Wait, Eddy. Now that we have the Surf app, maybe I can get to that Rose Incense back at Route 212." said Edd. He climbs onto his bike and rides to the southern gate.
"Just don't keep us waiting, sockhead." said Eddy. While they were waiting for Edd to return, Ed was looking around when he spots a man near the eastern gate holding what appeared to be a big pink egg with a large white stripe on it. Ed runs over to the man. "Hey, monobrow, where are you going?" Ed reaches the man and looks at the egg up close.
"Oh, big egg." said Ed.
"I can tell you're interested in this Pokemon Egg, young man." said the man.
"Pokemon come from eggs?" asked Ed.
"Yes. Didn't you know that?" asked the man. Ed shakes his head in response. "Anyway, I found this egg a while back and I've been holding onto it for a while. So far it hasn't hatched and I don't really have the time to take care of whatever Pokemon hatches from it." A thought suddenly went through the man's head. "Hey. Are you a Pokemon trainer?"
"Yeah." said Ed.
"Maybe you can take care of this egg for me." said the man.
"Okay." said Ed as he took the egg from the man.
"Thanks, kid. You're a real lifesaver." said the man. With that, the man walks away, leaving Ed alone with the egg.
"Oh, boy. I wonder what kind of Pokemon is in this egg?" Ed wondered. A minute later, Edd came back through the southern gate.
"Hey, Double-D. Did you get that Rose Incense?" asked Eddy.
"Yes I did. I gave it to my Roselia to strengthen her grass-type moves." said Edd.
"Hi, guys." said Ed. Edd and Eddy look towards Ed and were surprised to see him holding the Pokemon egg.
"Ed? Where did you get that egg?" asked Edd.
"A man who asked me to take care of it for him." said Ed.
"I'll bet that egg would make a big omelet." said Eddy. Ed holds it close to himself.
"But Eddy. It's a Pokemon egg!" said Ed.
"Pokemon come from eggs?" asked Edd.
"That's what that man said." said Ed.
"Okay, I won't make an omelet from it." said Eddy.
"Remember, Ed. You have a responsibility to take care of that egg, so you better be extra careful." said Edd.
"Okay, Double-D." said Ed.
"So can we go to Canalave City now?" Eddy asked impatiently.
"Yes. Our business here in Hearthome City is done. Let's be on our way." said Edd. They all got on their bikes and left through the western gate. As they travelled through Route 208, they took the time to do a little more training. Ed was training his Duskull when he suddenly freezes and begins to glow.
"Guys. My Duskull is evolving." said Ed. Ed and the others watch as Duskull begins to grow. When the glowing stopped, Duskull now had a roundish gray body that looks like it's wrapped in banadages, he had a single red eye, two long, light gray arms, and stubby legs. Edd takes out the pokedex and points it at the newly-evolved Duskull.
"Dusclops, the Beckon Pokemon and the evolved form of Duskull. Its body is hollow. It is said that those who look into its body are sucked into the void." said the pokedex.
"Congratulation, Ed, and by evolving, Dusclops has learned Shadow Punch, and it no longer has the Levitate ability, it now has the Pressure ability, which double the Power Point cost of an opposing Pokemon's moves." said Edd.
"What are Power Points?" asked Ed.
"Think of Power Points as the number a times a Pokemon can use a move. There are a certain number of times a Pokemon can use a certain move until its Power Points run out." said Edd. "And when its Power Points run out, it will not be able to use that move until its Power Points are restored by either treatment at a Pokemon Center, eating a berry called a Leppa Berry that can restore ten Power Points, or simply by resting. With Pressure, the opposing Pokemon would run out of Power Points quicker and use certain moves less than it normally would."
"Cool." replied Ed. The Ed then returned their Pokemon to their pokeballs and continued biking through Route 208. When they reach Mt Coronet, they enter it and look around. Seeing a body of water with something shiny on the other side of it, Edd uses the Surf app to get to it. What Edd found was a teal-colored stone. Edd takes out the guidebook he got from Professor Rowan and looks through it. His eyes widen when he learns what the stone is.
"My word; it's a Dawn Stone!" said Edd.
"What's that, Double-D?" asked Eddy.
"A Dawn Stone can be used to evolve my Kirlia to his final form." said Edd.
"Then what are you waiting for? Use it." said Eddy.
"Very well." said Edd as he pulls out his Kirlia's pokeball and releases him from it. Kirlia looks up at Edd with confusion. "Kirlia. This Dawn Stone can evolve you to your final form. Would you like to give it a try?" asked Edd. Kirlia nods in response. Edd puts the Dawn Stone against Kirlia and he begins to glow.
"Kirlia's evolving!" said Ed. When the glowing stop, they saw that Kirlia was taller, his limbs were longer, the lower half of his body was white, he had a red protusion on the front and back half of his torso, his head resembles a gladiator helmet with a white head, red eyes, and a teal head crest, and his arms are shaped like tonfas with extendable blades on his elbows. Looking in awe, Edd pulls out his pokedex and points it at the new Pokemon.
"Gallade, the Blade Pokemon, and one of the final evolved forms of a male Kirlia. A master of courtesy and swordsmanship, it fights using the extending swords on its elbows." said the pokedex.
"Congratulations, Gallade. And according to the pokedex, since you evolved, you learned Slash. You're also part psychic-type and part fighting-type now, you also now have the Steadfast ability which increases your speed whenever you flinch." said Edd. After a minute of admiring his new Gallade, Edd returns him to his pokeball and returns to the others.
"Your new Gallade looks so cool!" said Ed.
"Thank you, Ed. We should also keep an eye out for a Dawn Stone for your Snorunt, Eddy." said Edd.
"You mean my Snorunt needs one to evolve?" asked Eddy.
"Not necessarily, Eddy. You see, any Snorunt can become the Pokemon known as Glalie; but only female Snorunts have the ability to become the Pokemon known as Froslass, which are part ice-type and part ghost-type. Having a Pokemon with two types instead of just one can give you more of an advantage." said Edd.
"Okay, then. Let's keep our eyes open for another Dawn Stone. Now let's get back on track, boys." said Eddy.
"Hey, Eddy. I just thought of something. Let's use the Fly app on the Poketch to get to Jubilife a lot quicker." suggested Edd.
"Why didn't we use it to get from Celestic Town to Hearthome City before?" asked Eddy.
"With that Team Galactic member threatening to blow up Celestic Town it must've slipped my mind. But let's leave this mountain before we do. I don't think it will work when we're not outside." said Edd. They soon leave Mt Coronet and Edd brings out his Poketch. Edd brings up the HM App and chooses the Fly option. A few Staraptors appear, each grabbing one of the Eds, and carries them all the way to Jubilife City while they were holding onto their bikes with them screaming the whole way. Once back on the ground, the Eds take the time to regain their composure.
"I wish we had more warning about that." said Eddy.
"Agreed. Now that we're here, let's continue on our way to Canalave City." said Edd. Before they started to head towards the western gate, Edd remembered something. "Hold on, gentlemen."
"What's up, Double-D?" asked Eddy.
"There are some bodies of water north of Jubilife. I would like to take the opportunity to check them out and see if there's anything around them with the Surf App. I might find something useful." said Edd.
"Fine. Just hurry up." said Eddy. Edd leaves out the north exit. Five minutes later, Edd comes back, holding what appeared to be a blue incense burner. "What's that?"
"It's a Sea Incense. It can be used to increase the power of water-type attacks. Since Ed's Golduck and my Empoleon already have Splash Plates, maybe you can give this to your Floatzel." said Edd.
"Sweet." said Eddy as he takes the Sea Incense, lets out his Floatzel, gives the Sea Incense to him, and returns him to his pokeball. "Now that that's taken care of. Onward to Canalave City." They exit through the western gate and reach some docks on a large river. Edd brings up the HM App on the Poketch and chooses the Surf option, allowing them to travel down the river until they reached a path on the opposite shore. They ride their bikes down it, taking on trainers they came across. During one of the trainer battles, Edd's Gallade learned Psycho Cut. They continued biking until they reached a gate. When they passed through it, they reached their destination: Canalave City.
