Chapter 3: Anything To Be Number 1 Again

As their ride to Luna's house continues, the rain lessens some, but not by much. Luna decides to talk to Naruto about something that's been on her mind for a little while.

"Naruto, we've been dating for a month and a half and our Mothers haven't met, I mean I know that they're good friends already, but I j-just..." she says apprehensively, dropping her gaze as Naruto pulled up to a traffic light that is red.

"So, when did you want us to have our Moms meet and talk about our relationship?" asked the blonde.

With the ghost of a smile playing at the corners of her mouth, Luna leaned over and kissed Naruto's left cheek lightly.

"How about Friday, since we're not going to -."

Luna's words were cut off suddenly by a loud thump from behind made the blonde's sports car jerk forward, nearly causing Naruto to lose control of his vehicle, the mystery vehicle hits the accelerator and closes the minimal gap between them and Naruto's car, they then ram the Naruto and Luna a second time and spun him out with a PIT maneuver. Luna screams as they spin out of control, the blonde and brunette lovers barrel towards the guardrail and slam hard up against it.

The windows of the smaller car shatter upon impact, bathing the occupants in a shower of shards of broken glass which slash them all about their faces, arms, and hands.

Both Naruto and Luna were slumped over in the car unconscious.

"Luna, Luna, what happened?" Tsume asked frantically, still on the phone with her youngest daughter when the wreck happened.

Slowly, Naruto opened his eyes and sits up slowly and takes the phone from a still knocked out Luna.

"H-hello, Ms. Inuzuka, we were just hit from behind b-by someone, I'm OK, but Luna is still out cold." he said weakly.

"Where are you, Naruto?" Tsume asks, still in a panic.

"The 8000 block of Wall Drive, 8-8451 Wall Drive near the water tower that's on the left side."

Tsume called 911 and in minutes EMTs and Police were on their way to Luna and Naruto's location. Once she was done getting help for Naruto and Luna, Tsume called Naruto's Mother, Kushina and told her what had happened.

Naruto sighed as he opened his eyes, finding himself in a hospital room in a hospital bed.

Just then, the crash came back into his mind.

"L-Luna." he croaked out weakly.

"She's all right, Naruto sweetie." his Mother's voice says softly from beside him.

Naruto sighed again before laying his head back down on his pillow.

Meanwhile, in the room three doors down from Naruto's, Tsume and Hana Inuzuka watched their beloved daughter and kid sister as she slept peacefully in her hospital bed.

"Mom, is this my fault? I mean I-I could've gone to pick Luna up and come to the clinic a few minutes late, but I didn't ...I ... I w-was so focused on my job that forgot about my baby Sister and now Naruto is hurt too because of me." Hana sobs, burying her face in her hands.

"Stop that this instant, Hana Inuzuka, there's no way you could have known something like this would happen, and who knows if it had been you and your Sister in that crash and if I had l-lost..." Tsume cut herself off, not wanting to even entertain the thought of losing either of her daughters.

"Hana, listen to me." Tsume says as she hugs her oldest."We have to be strong for Luna, for Naruto, and for Kushina. I can't explain it but I feel as though this was fated to happen, but we'll have to wait and see, but please stop blaming yourself, OK?"

After wiping her eyes, Hana gives her Mom a slight nod.

"That's my girl, now go home, the dogs need to fed and walked."

"OK Mom." Hana says before kissing Tsume's right cheek gently before leaving the hospital.

Elsewhere...

Sasuke is smiling widely as he walked into his room with Sakura on his heels.

The pinkette felt bad about what Sasuke said he had done to Naruto and Luna, putting them in the hospital and felt no remorse about doing what he did.

Sakura thought about Naruto, sure he could be annoying at times, but the blonde was loyal to a fault, and though Sakura had been just as shocked as everyone else that Naruto and Luna won at the Prom, Sasuke's anger and jealousy had spiraled out of control and had endangered two lives.

Sakura soon found herself regretting passing up Naruto for Sasuke.

Sakura looks at her boyfriend worriedly, she wished that she could fix the divide that is now present between the three former friends.

It took a month and two weeks for both Luna and Naruto to fully heal from their injuries and an additional two weeks before they could return to school.

Kushina and Tsume were sitting in the Waiting Room, they were so happy that their kids were going to be fine, the two hot MILFS hugged one another before sharing a brief, and somewhat awkward kiss.

Thankfully the Waiting Room was empty, so Tsume and Kushina didn't have to worry about an audience, just how in the world they would explain this to their children.
