Hey everyone!

I'm not even going to apologise for how long between updates. Real life just... bit bad in October and I barely had time to breathe. Anyway guess who decided to do NaNoWriMo and is actually writing again? That's right. Me. I'm also entering some calmer months for the winter so I doubt I'll hit the 50k monthly total but I'm writing again and starting to write every day again. I really hope to get back to some sort of normal pattern with updates and I'm hoping that this month will help me.

Thanks for sticking with me.

Lots of love,

LSH xx

Breaking Traditions-Part 55:

The Daily Prophet reporter and photographer bowed in greeting to Lucius and Narcissa as they walked over to the couple. Their eyes fell on Draco playing with Rosalie under the careful supervision of Priscilla as had been agreed.

"Thank you for coming," Lucius said as Narcissa ordered the elves to bring refreshments for everyone before the interview started. Everyone could adjust to the presence of each other before the interviews got underway.

"So would you two mind explaining how the decision to adopt came about?" the reporter asked, "it seems a rather sudden decision… from the outside I mean."

"Well we struggled even having Draco so the question of trying to give him a sibling was out of the question," Lucius said, "we had given up on the idea of having another child until Draco told me something right as he left for Hogwarts and it made me think about what was more important? My wife's happiness or the values that the Sacred 28 hold close?"

"Would you be able to explain why conceiving your son was so difficult?" the reporter asked.

"That is one question that I will not answer," Narcissa said as she looked at the reporter, "there are some questions that will remain unanswered," she said as the reporter nodded, "but yes it was Draco who put the idea into Lucius' head. We tried to find a middle point so adopting a Pureblood child appeared to be the best solution."

"I understand that your mother has been less than pleased about the whole affair…"

"Druella has not been the most welcoming of the idea and tried to turn people against us and failed," Lucius said, "there are many who support the decision that we made… the Greengrasses in particular have been supporting us since day one and that truly means a lot to us," he said before glancing at Draco and Rosalie.

"The whole thing was kept secret. Only Priscilla, Abraxas and my father knew anything about where our daughter was," Narcissa said as she looked at the interviewer. We were worried about my mother finding her and snatching her. My mother has, as my husband has said, very against this whole thing since the start and that is something we've had to bare in mind. She hasn't met Rosalie yet and the first time she will is when this interview goes out in the Daily Prophet. Then it'll be her move."

"Why do this interview now?" the reporter asked, "why didn't you do it as soon as Rosalie came home?"

"Because we wanted time with our daughter," Lucius said, "doing this interview isn't the easiest thing we've ever done but it was needed as a way of introducing our daughter to the world… on our terms and not anyone else's. We wanted to get to know our daughter privately before being public with her. We've been lucky and able to do that. She's been with us for three months now and is developing a cheeky personality," he said with a smiled before pausing to take a drink.

After a while Draco joined his parents for his part of the interview and Narcissa watched her mother-in-law sit with Rosalie to play with her.

"She's my baby sister and I love her so much. Of course I wish I was here more but that doesn't change my decision to tell my father to make mother happy," Draco said as he spoke to the reporter, "I'm very glad that I did it because mother is happy… well everyone is happy," he said with a smile, "I'll be home at the weekends and able to spend time with her," he said.

The reporter asked him a few questions and he declined to answer a couple of them which, again, were respected.

"I am aware of my mother's difficulties with having children and that had stopped me asking for a younger sibling but, with me going to Hogwarts, I didn't want mother to miss me so much. I realised then that a baby… or child… would help mother to not be so sad about me going to school. She never knew my intentions on September 1st. I was the only one who knew and that was deliberate as I wanted to leave mother and father discussing what I'd said."

The interview carried on for a while and a pause was made for refreshments to be given and even some snacks to be provided. The interview would take up most of the Prophet issue that it was to be published in and that is why the reporter and photographer were there so long.

"We're hoping that our story will inspire others into looking at adoption as there are hundreds of children who need homes," Narcissa said as she spoke, "yes we are scared of being shunned but, despite my mother's intentions, support for us has been high and that is something that we are thankful for. If it can help just one family then that will be worth it," she said.

The interview carries on for a while longer, last questions being asked, facts checked to make sure they were right and then it was time for the photos.

Priscilla rose to her feet and sat Rosalie in Narcissa's lap and the reporter looked at Rosalie.

"She simply is adorable. I can see why you decide to adopt her."

"Thank you. It was hard but we're all happy and this little one has a loving home now and that is all that matters to us," Lucius said before the photos were started.

Each of the Malfoys held Rosalie and even Priscilla crept into a couple of the photos watching over her baby granddaughter. The smiles were evident on the photos and it was just a moment to enjoy. Rosalie was very well behaved and didn't cry once. She even managed a toothless grin for the camera as well.

Eventually the time came for the Daily Prophet people to leave and Lucius showed them to the door.

"Once you have the interview written up I'd like to see it before it goes to print," he said, "I trust you but it was a long interview so I'd like to just read everything over to make sure it is all correct."

"As you wish Mr. Malfoy," the reporter said before leaving and Lucius headed back to the tearoom.

"We will get to look through the interview before it goes to print," he said, "I'd rather do it that way first," he said before Narcissa nodded and then summoned a bottle to feed Rosalie as she was now starting to grizzle as she was hungry.
