A/N: Hello everyone, I am back with chapter eighteen of this story. Here, the twins are confronted by their parents.
Disclaimer: I don't own Gravity Falls
The Pines twins woke the next day. Dipper woke up and found the bathroom door again locked. Mabel was in there and Dipper had to wait. Finally, Mabel came out wrapped in a towel.
"Hey Dip, just give me a second." said Mabel.
"You're finished." said Dipper.
"No. I just need to get my clothes." replied Mabel.
"You bring them in there with you." said Dipper.
"Nah." shrugged Mabel.
Mabel adjusted her towel and Dipper noticed the scars.
"How are you doing?" asked Dipper concerned.
Mabel winced at this question.
"I'm doing better." sighed Mabel.
"You sure?" asked Dipper.
"Yeah. I swear." answered Mabel.
Dipper seemed to accept this.
"How are you?" asked Mabel.
"I had a nightmare." answered Dipper.
Dipper rubbed his face with his hands.
"I was a member of the Ghostbusters, but then Peter Venkman turned into Bill Cipher and used the Stay Puff Marshmallow Man to unleash Weirdmaggeddon." explained Dipper.
"How did you feel?" asked Mabel concerned.
Dipper tightened his fists.
"I was terrified and woke up in a cold sweat." answered Dipper.
"It's okay. Bill is gone." noted Mabel.
"I know." sighed Dipper.
"I'm going to get dressed, you pee before I come back." said Mabel.
Dipper nodded in agreement.
"Sure." said Dipper.
The two finished getting ready and headed downstairs. They expected to be greeted with the delicious smell of food being cooked only to be surprised when that wasn't the case. They heard their parents whispering back and forth as they reached the kitchen. The Pines parents stopped once they saw the twins.
"Hi." said Dipper uneasy.
"Good morning." said Mabel, also uneasy.
The twins poured themselves a bowl of cereal and sat down to eat.
"Kids...I have something to ask you." began Mrs. Pines.
The twins shared concerned glances.
"Go ahead." said Dipper worried.
Mrs. Pines took a deep breath.
"Who is Bill?" asked Mrs. Pines.
Dipper and Mabel felt their bodies lock up.
"Please...be honest with us." requested Mrs. Pines.
Dipper began to shake as Mabel zoned out.
"Kids, are you okay?" asked Mr. Pines worried.
Mabel continued to replay her handing the rift to Bill/Blendin over and over.
"What's going on?" asked Mrs. Pines terrified.
Dipper saw how everyone was freaking out and forced himself to calm down.
"Mabel, it's okay." said Dipper reassuring.
Mabel began reaching out for her brother's hand.
"I'm here." stated Dipper.
Dipper grabbed his sister's hand. "We won't be torn apart again." promised Dipper.
Mabel managed to take deep breaths and calm herself.
"Feeling better?" asked Dipper.
Mabel took a moment to ask herself.
"Yeah." answered Mabel meekly.
Both looked at their worried parents.
"So, do you want to tell us what that was?" asked Mr. Pines disturbed.
"Bill...is a bad subject for us." answered Dipper.
"What happened?" asked Mrs. Pines terrified.
"You...wouldn't believe us if we told you." answered Mabel.
"Try us." replied Mr. Pines.
Mabel looked at her brother.
"Should we?" asked Mabel.
Dipper shrugged his shoulders.
"Might as well try." answered Dipper.
The two nodded.
"Bill Cipher was a triangle demon from another universe." began Mabel.
"He began to unleash an apocalyptic event called Weirdmaggeddon." continued Dipper.
Mabel tensed up.
"He messed with us and tricked me into helping him." said Mabel sadly.
"We stopped him, but we're still dealing with the effects." finished Dipper.
The Pines parents blinked in surprise.
"Kids, I don't know why you're making up these wild stories." said Mrs. Pines upset.
"Worth a shot." muttered Dipper.
"We're asking you to open up." said Mr. Pines.
Dipper subtly nudged his sister.
"Follow my lead." whispered Dipper.
Mabel winked at her brother.
"Bill is someone we met in Oregon." began Dipper.
"What exactly did he do?" asked Mrs. Pines.
"He did torment us, but he's gone now." answered Mabel.
"Oddly, I think we might be stronger by standing up to him." confessed Dipper.
"That's nice to hear" said Mr. Pines happily.
Mrs. Pines shot her husband a glare.
"Sorry." whispered Mr. Pines.
"You're right though." said Dipper.
"You have been more confident and mature." conceded Mrs. Pines.
Mrs. Pines shook her head.
"We have to focus." said Mrs. Pines.
"What exactly did he do?" asked Mr. Pines.
"The first time was just doing the dirty work for Gideon." answered Dipper.
Mabel gagged at the name.
"He's my ex...sort of." said Mabel.
"What?!" asked Mrs. Pines horrified.
"They didn't want to date, but Mabel wouldn't break up with him." explained Dipper.
"He attacked Dipper and kicked him aside so he was bitter." added Mabel.
"Oh honey." said Mrs. Pines.
"He did come around in the end and helped us against Bill." revealed Dipper.
"When Bill returned, I was supposed to be helping Dipper. But, I got distracted by a boy who was WAY into sock puppets." said Mabel.
"Mabel was supposed to help me, but she didn't so I agreed to let Bill help me. Of course, he double-crossed me." sighed Dipper.
"We stopped him, but he set up his torment and things got really bad." said Mabel shakenly.
Mabel thought of the latter from Bill she found. The water tower. Dipper's fall to his death. And his invitation to join her dead brother raced through her mind.
"He came back a third time and was worse than ever." continued Dipper.
"He helped tear us apart." revealed Mabel softly.
"But, we beat him." concluded Dipper.
Mabel looked at her brother.
"And he's not coming back." said Mabel firmly.
Dipper nodded his head affirming.
'I could help but notice you were rather vague." noted Mr. Pines.
"We already told you the truth." muttered Dipper.
"If you don't feel comfortable telling us what happened..." began Mrs. Pines.
Mrs. Pines sighed flatly.
"Then we won't force you." said Mrs. Pines.
Both twins were relieved to hear this.
"But, we're worried about you." confessed Mrs. Pines.
"You don't need to worry about us." replied Dipper.
"Mason, it's our job as your parents to worry about you." noted Mr. Pines.
Dipper smiled faintly.
"We didn't know how bad things were and we were terrified when we saw it." began Mrs. Pines.
Mrs. Pines got choked up.
"Give me a moment." said Mrs. Pines.
Dipper and Mabel felt terrible seeing their mother like this.
"The fact you didn't feel safe coming to us..." continued Mrs. Pines.
Mrs. Pines trailed off being unable to finish.
"It's not that mom." said Mabel sadly.
"Then what is it?" asked Mrs. Pines crying.
Dipper winced.
"We didn't want to burden you with our problems." admitted Dipper.
"Son, it's not a burden. We want to help you." noted Mr. Pines.
Dipper accepted this.
"From now on, let's solve our problems as a family." proposed Mrs. Pines.
"Yes. Definetly. Absolutely." agreed Dipper.
"We promise." added Mabel.
The rest of the day passed by trauma-free. That night, Dipper was sitting in his room and lying on his bed. Dipper was reading a book about the Nandi bear. He was reading a book when a knock came on his door. The door crept open and Mabel popped her head into the room.
"Hey bro, you busy?" asked Mabel.
Dipper placed a bookmark in the book.
"No." answered Dipper.
Mabel entered her brother's room shutting the door behind her.
"This morning was crazy." said Mabel.
Mabel sat on the bed.
"Yeah, I'm glad how it turned out." replied Dipper.
"It got a bit intense when mom started crying." said Mabel.
Mabel got choked up a bit.
"Yeah, it's okay." replied Dipper.
Mabel took a deep breath.
"I'm glad mom and dad accepted our story." confessed Mabel.
"It works on our doctor." shrugged Dipper.
"He won't tell them anything, right?" asked Mabel worried.
"We have doctor-patient confidentiality." answered Dipper.
"Oh good." replied Mabel relieved.
Mabel thought to herself.
"I wonder how mom found out about..." began Mabel.
Mabel noticed Dipper tensing up.
"You know who." said Mabel.
Mabel relaxed himself.
"I don't know." answered Dipper.
Mabel chuckled to herself.
"It's no surprise they didn't believe us about the truth and all." mused Mabel.
"Well it sounds like something in a kid's cartoon show." shrugged Dipper.
The twins shared a laugh.
"I couldn't have gotten through that without you." confessed Mabel.
"I feel the same." admitted Dipper.
"Honestly, I'm glad we haven't gone back." said Mabel.
"I don't know, part of me wouldn't mind going back." noted Dipper.
"I'd like to see my friends but..." began Mabel.
Mabel trailed off.
"We're still in his shadow." sighed Dipper.
Mabel thought for a moment.
"I'm not ready yet." stated Mabel.
"Yeah, I'm not sure I am either." said Dipper.
"We'll go back when we are ready." said Mabel.
"Exactly." agreed Dipper.
A/N: That's where we'll end things for now. I figured their parents would notice something was amiss so I explained that. Next time, we jump to the future, and tragedy strikes. Please review.
