Chapter 32: Rooftop Showdown with Raphael- Part I
Storm clouds gathered over the city as the gang was getting near their location. "Here's the plan. Yami, Joey, Tristan, Tea, Kaiba, Mokuba, Yolei, Cody, TK, Kari, Matt, Tatum, Ken, and I will go inside Paradius HQ. With any luck, Raphael will be there waiting for us. Tai, Rebecca, and Duke, you take the others and get somewhere safe" Daisuke said.
"You sure about this?" Tai asked.
"I am" Daisuke said.
"We'll come and find and you guys once this is over" Matt said.
"We're here" Duke said as they pulled up to the building.
"Let's go" Yami said he and the others got out and Duke took off.
"No turning back now" Tristan said the gang went inside and towards the elevator. Soon, the elevator door opened, and a feather fell to the ground.
"We're definitely in the right place" Joey said as the gang got in the elevator and went to the rooftop. As the elevator got to the top, the doors opened and there was Raphael waiting for them.
"I was hoping you would show up for our rematch. You all owe me a soul" Raphael said.
"We're here for Dartz" Yami said.
"He's not here, but since you're here, you may as well stay" Raphael said.
"Is your boss really that much of a coward he sends you to do his dirty work?" Daisuke asked.
"I do what I can to save the world from the likes of you. Even as we speak, the Great Beast is gathering enough energy to awaken and once I drain you of your souls and obtain the Winged Dragon of Ra, that monster will have the strength it needs to do what needs to be done" Raphael said as the gang looked to see a large serpentine shadow snake its way across the night sky. All across the globe, everyone could see the shadow, from New York, Chicago, Mexico, Paris, London, Russia, Tokyo, and Australia.
"That's never going to happen, what Dartz is doing is going to put millions of lives at risk" Joey said.
"It's an acceptable risk" Raphael said. "Now, shall we get on with the duel? And don't even think of trying that same stunt you did last time; I don't appreciate being lied to" Raphael added.
"Trust me, I'm not running away anymore" Yami said.
"Don't forget me" Daisuke said.
"That's fine. Once I win, I'll have 2 souls for the price of one" Raphael said as he, Yami, and Daisuke exchanged decks and shuffled them.
"I'm watching you, Raphael. No dirty tricks" Yami warned.
"This is going to be different" Raphael said as he, Yami, and Daisuke exchanged their decks back and Yami joined Daisuke on one side of the field, and Raphael walked to the other side.
"I'm going to enjoy this" Raphael said as he activated his duel disk, while Yami and Daisuke did the same. Soon, lightning struck the skies, signaling the start of the duel.
"Time to duel!" The 3 shouted and they drew their initial hands.
(Yami: 4000)
(Daisuke: 4000)
(Raphael: 4000)
"First, I place one card face down and then I play Guardian Treasure. This magic card lets me draw 2 cards as long as I discard the 5 cards in my hand right now. It also lets me draw 2 cards during each and every one of my turns. Next, I play one more card face down and I summon my trusty Backup Gardna in defense mode" Raphael said 2 cards appeared face down followed by the blue skinned monster. (Def: 2200)
Yami drew a card from his deck. "I play Queen's Knight in defense mode" Yami said as the female knight appeared kneeling down. (Def: 1600)
"My turn" Daisuke said as she looked at her hand to see she drew V-Girl, Dust Tornado, a magic card called Spell Absorption, Electromagnetic Turtle, and a new monster called Blizzard Princess, before she drew a card. "I play 2 cards face down and I summon a monster in defense mode" Daisuke said as 2 cards appeared face down followed by a face down monster card.
"Then it's my move" Raphael said as he drew 2 cards. "I play Gravity Axe, remember this card? It lets me play Guardian Grarl" Raphael said as an axe struck the field and the bipedal lizard appeared. (Attk: 2500). "Then, I'll equip Grarl with Gravity Axe, which raise its attack points by 500" Raphael added as his monster took the axe in its hands.
(Guardian Grarl: 2500-3000)
"Now, Grarl, attack Queen's Knight!" Raphael commanded and his monster charged and sliced Yami's monster and destroyed it. "Next, I reveal my facedown card, Double Attack. By discarding one card from my hand, my monster can attack twice in one turn. Take out Daisuke's face down monster!" Raphael commanded and his monster destroyed Daisuke's monster with its axe. The face down monster was revealed to be Skelengel. (Def: 400)
"By destroying Skelengel, you let me draw one card" Daisuke said as she drew a card from her deck.
"You'll need all the cards in your deck to win this duel" Raphael said.
"We'll see. It's my partner's turn" Daisuke said as Yami drew a card.
"I play Monster Reborn to bring back Queen's Knight" Yami said as the female knight reappeared. (Attk: 1500) "Next, I play King's Knight and thanks to his special ability, I can summon Jack's Knight from my deck" Yami said as the bearded knight appeared (Attk: 1600), followed by the young knight (Attk: 1900)
"Now I play Brave Attack. This magic card allows me to combine me to combine my monster's attack points, although I may lose my knights, it's a small price to pay for destroying Guardian Grarl" Yami said.
"I see you still haven't learned your lesson, since this was the exact move that did you in" Raphael said.
"I can assure you; it's not going to be the same as last time. Now my knights, attack Guardian Grarl with Triple Majestic Slash!" Yami commanded as his knights charged toward Raphael's monster.
"I reveal my face down card, Guardian Force. This lets me destroy any magic card you have in play as long as there's no guardian monsters in my graveyard" Raphael said.
"I don't think so. I reveal my trap card, Dust Tornado. This lets me destroy one magic or trap card that's in play and I already know which card to choose" Daisuke said as a tornado blew though the field and destroyed Guardian Force.
"I still have a backup plan. I reveal my face down card, Negate Attack" Raphael said as a barrier shielded his monster.
"I'll end my turn" Yami said as Daisuke drew a card. "I play V-Girl in defense mode" Daisuke said as V-Girl appeared kneeling. (Def: 1400)
Raphael drew 2 cards. "I play Butterfly Dagger, increasing Backup Gardna's attack points by 300" Raphael said as his monster took a dagger in its hand.
(Backup Gardna: 500-800)
"It also lets me summon Guardian Elma" Raphael added as a woman with red hair wearing a revealing outfit appeared. (1300/1200) "Next, I'll use Elma's effect to bring Guardian Shield back from the graveyard to increase its defense points by 300" Raphael said as a butterfly shield appeared in Elma's left hand.
(Guardian Elma- Def: 1200-1500)
"Then, I'll transfer Butterfly Dagger to Elma to increase her attack points by 300" Raphael said as Elma took the dagger in her hand.
(Guardian Elma: 1300-1600)
(Backup Gardna: 800-500)
"Guardian Elma, attack Queen's Knight!" Raphael commanded as Elma stabbed Yami's monster through the chest. "Now for Guardian Grarl, destroy King's Knight!" Raphael commanded as his monster charged and sliced King's Knight with its axe, destroying it.
(Yami: 2500)
"Oh man, Now Yugi's down to one monster" Joey said.
"What's he going to do now?" Mokuba asked as Yami drew a card.
"I play Five Star Twilight. By sacrificing Jack's Knight, I can summon the 5 Kuriboh Brothers" Yami said as Jack's Knight vanished and the 5 Kuribohs appeared in it's place. (Attk: 300 x5)
"I'm so scared" Raphael scoffed.
"You should be, because I'm discarding one trap card from my hand to activate the Kuriboh Brothers' special ability, Kuriball" Yami as the Kuriboh brothers started rolling towards Raphael's side of the field as the white Kuriboh swallowed the Kuribohs one by one and as it got bigger it collided with Grarl.
(Guardian Grarl: 3000-1500)
"What happened to my monster?" Raphael asked.
"I weakened him. Now Kuriboh Brothers, combine to form Kuribablyon" Yami commanded as the furry monsters collided in a puff of smoke and the large horned Kuriboh appeared. (Attk: 1500)
"Now our monsters are tied in attack strength" Raphael pointed out.
"Not after I play Mystical Space Typhoon to destroy Gravity Axe" Yami said as a typhoon blew through the field and Gravity Axe was destroyed.
(Guardian Grarl: 1500-1000)
"Now Kuribablyon destroy Guardian Grarl!" Yami commanded as his monster charged toward Grarl, ready to pierce it's heart.
"Guardian Elma, defend!" Raphael commanded as Elma stood in front of Grarl and Guardian Shield was destroyed.
"What was that?" Daisuke asked.
"By sacrificing Guardian Shield, my monster remains on the field, but I still lose 500 life points" Raphael answered.
(Raphael: 3500)
"I'll place one card face down and end my turn" Yami said as a face down card appeared on the field.
"Here goes" Daisuke said as she drew a card. "I play Cyber Harpy in attack mode" Daisuke said as the purple armored harpy appeared with a screech. (Attk: 1800) "Next, I play Blustering Winds to increase it's attack points by 1000" Daisuke said as Cyber Harpy glowed with power from the magic card.
(Cyber Harpy: 1800-2800)
"That's all for now" Daisuke said.
"Big deal, even with Mai's card helping you, that still won't stopped what's coming next" Raphael said.
"Why are you doing this? Dartz is a madman, he's using you to get what he wants. He doesn't care about you" Daisuke said.
"He's opened my eyes to the truth. That everyone in the world is selfish and evil" Raphael said.
"He's brainwashed you. He's filled your head with lies" Yami said.
"Yami's right. Dartz has tricked you into hating the world, but I know there's good in you. And we're going to set you free" Daisuke said.
"You need to be set free, once I play this card" Raphael said.
"No, Raphael. Please don't do it!" Yami yelled.
"It's too late. I play the Seal of Orichalcos" Raphael said as he put the card into the field slot of his duel disk.
"Raphael, please stop!" Daisuke begged.
"Sorry, but your fates have been sealed" Raphael said as the Seal began to expand from encircling Yami and Daisuke, cutting them off from the others.
"This is not good" Tristan said.
"How are Yugi and Daisuke going to win?" Tea asked.
"Oh, Raphael. What have you done?" Daisuke thought sadly as the Seal appeared on Raphael's forehead as more lightning struck the sky, followed by thunder.
