In the open, barren wastelands, one lone young man walked around. In his left hand, he gripped a gun tightly, firing it at any monsters that tried to cross his path.
"Was Big Brother here…" he muttered softly. "Maybe… and Kadaj too… but no Loz. How odd."
He walked around a little more, not really going in any set direction. He wandered wherever he felt he needed to go, trying to find signs of life that weren't beasts trying to attack and kill him.
"Maybe they've left to go somewhere else…"
He started to walk further, hoping wherever he went he would find one of the two.
While Cloud checked the area to see if any monsters were still roaming. It had been stressful ever since Sephiroth had come back to be a bother again, and now Cloud felt on edge. He looked around every corner, expecting to see the man, ready to strike if need be.
"Hey, Spike!" Zack called as he ran up from behind. "Where ya wandering off too?"
"Just checking around," Cloud commented.
"Anything to note?"
Cloud shrugged. "Not that I can see."
"Then we should get back to the group. No point in just wandering around here, right?"
Cloud nodded, ready to head back when he caught something in the corner of his eye. His hand tensed as he reached for his sword. He started moving towards the shadow he sensed there was someone hiding in the shadows.
"Who's there?" he called out. "Show yourself."
From the darkness a silver haired boy emerged, and Cloud had to stop himself from launching straight into an attack. He had thought he was seeing Sephiroth, but instead he was only someone who looked like him. He looked a lot like Kadaj too, though he was a little thinner, and his hair was longer than the other.
"Ah, Brother, so this is where you've been."
"He's calling you brother too?" Zack questioned. He laughed a little, poking Cloud in the arm. "Just how many brothers you got?"
Cloud shook his head. "He's not… I don't know who he is."
"Well, he sure seems to know you," Zack countered. "Just like Kadaj did."
The boy tilted his head to the side. "You've been with Kadaj? So you did find each other. That's good."
"Yeah, we have, but who are you?" Cloud asked.
Before he could answer, Kadaj popped out of nowhere, just like every time before. "Yazoo. You're here as well?"
"I found myself here, and began to wander, looking for you and Brother. Even Loz, but I couldn't sense him."
"I don't understand it," Kadaj said as he shook his head. "But we are here now, and we can help Brother stop Sephiroth. He is going too far and he has Mother all to himself."
Yazoo nodded. "I'll help."
Zack grinned widely as he walked up to the two silver haired boys. "So he's your brother, eh? Guess that means another to add to the squad!"
Yazoo tilted his head again. "Squad?"
Kadaj sighed. "He insists on such a trivial thing."
"Cause you guys just need some guidance and I am here to help! I am the superior officer of the squad, so remember to talk to me if you ever need anything! You got that?"
Kadaj rolled his eyes. "I remember the first time you said it."
"Yeah, but your brother hasn't heard it yet! But seriously! I'll help keep an eye out for you guys!"
"Whatever. Come Yazoo, I'll tell you everything you need to know," Kadaj said as he took Yazoo by the hand, pulling him away from the other two.
"Well that was weird…" Cloud commented.
"Weird, but got another friend to help us against Sephiroth!"
"I wouldn't say 'friend' describes Kadaj. And not sure about the other," Cloud commented dryly.
Zack shrugged before grinning. "Eh, they're still just kids. And kids in need of good mentorship are what I'm here for!"
Zack's optimism managed to bring out a chuckle in Cloud. "You never quit, do you?"
"Nope! Now come on! Let's go tell the others who we met!"
"There's another one!?" Yuffie gasped.
"And would he have the same connection to Sephiroth that Kadaj has? The same will to stop him as well?" Rosa asked.
"Seems like it, though he doesn't have the same level of energy as Kadaj. He seemed…" Zack said, trailing off as he tried to find the word. "Maybe a bit spacey? But not like a bad kind of spacey? He's just a bit more…"
"Quiet. Not as talkative as his brother," Cloud finished.
Yuffie sighed. "I still can't believe there's two of them now! Kadaj was already weird enough!"
"But as long as they're not causing trouble, it's not an issue, right?" Edge asked. "Kadaj only likes showing up when he's helping with something against Sephiroth."
"Guess so… but still!" Yuffie complained.
"We will just have to keep going, and see how things play out. Come on, we should keep going," Zack said.
As Aerith walked, he could tell that she was being followed. She turned around, looking for a monster or even Sephiroth, but she didn't see anyone.
"Who's there?" she asked.
There wasn't an answer, but Aerith could have sworn she saw two figures moving in the shadows.
"Sensing something, Aerith?" Zack asked.
She nodded. "I think we may have some followers."
Zack grinned. "Then I think I know who it could be! Hey Kadaj! Yazoo! Come on out and stop hiding already!"
Surprisingly, the two boys walked out quietly out into the open.
"Oh Kadaj," Aerith said with a smile. "How nice of you to join us again. And I see this must be Yazoo who Zack told me about. It's nice to meet you."
Yazoo looked at her for a moment before slowly nodding his head. "Kadaj wanted me to see you. He says you reminded him of Mother."
"Oh? Is that right?" Aerith questioned. "Well, I'm not sure how true that is, but I am happy to meet you. Your brother has been very kind in helping us."
Kadaj looked away. "Still only doing it for myself. It has nothing to do with any of you."
"Don't lie, Kadaj. You want to help Brother, and his friends," Yazoo replied.
Kadaj frowned at him. "You don't have to say it aloud!"
Zack laughed loudly. "You see? I know you guys have some good intentions in you! You are learning what it means to be a part of a team!"
"A team sounds helpful," Yazoo said as he nodded. "You're a close friend of Brother. I know you can teach us."
"Then how about we go and practice on some monster! Show me what you got!" Zack cheered as he started running ahead. "Let's go!"
Without a word, Yazoo followed behind him, leaving Kadaj alone with Aerith. She chuckled as she watched Zack run ahead, knowing his energy had no end.
She then faced Kadaj. "Aren't you going to join them?"
"I don't know…"
"You should. Otherwise Zack will only come back to bug you about it later," she said with a laugh.
Kadaj sighed. "Fine, but only because I don't want to have to deal with him pestering me more."
He then walked off, going to catch up with Yazoo and Zack for some random training session. Maybe it wouldn't be all too bad, he had another one of his brothers by his side. It made him feel a little less lonely.
