007 - Mental Landscape | Dream, Subconscious, And Everything In Between

Yukari Hakurei is sleeping. Because of that, she is dreaming about something. Something… peculiar. Something or someone… similar. 'Who in the bloody hell is that? *sees the other Yukari in a poofy clothes* Mate, I don't like those clothes at all. I don't even want to wear them at all,' Yukari thought or said since she's sleeping and is in her dream.

But then, Yukari is blasted by something she vaguely remembers from her childhood, then she realizes what this is. 'Oh, I know this one. Let me state the rules:

[1] Do not talk about /b/ = basically, whatevers happens stays in (location)

[2] Do NOT talk about /b/ = same as [1]

[3] We are anonymous = closing signature or a motto

[4] Anonymous is legion = same as [3]

[5] Anonymous never forgives = same as [3]

[6] Anonymous can be a horrible, senseless, uncaring monster = no surprise i'm one of them

[7] Anonymous is still able to deliver = contents such as these

[8] There are no real rules about posting = don't know about this site, though

[9] There are no real rules about moderation either = basically, have fun being banned

[10] If you enjoy any rival sites = DON'T, please

[11] All your carefully picked arguments can be easily ignored = pretty much "don't care, didn't ask"

[12] Anything you say can and will be used against you = manipulation, very useful to meme someone

[13] Anything you say can be turned into something else = one such example is amogus

[14] Do not argue with trolls = i, yukari, am one of them

[15] The harder you try the harder you will fail = don't dream too big or say hi to the shadow realm, jimbo

These are some interesting rules, but I don't have time for nostalgia. Right now, I need to find that person who literally looks like me but wears poofy clothes that I dislike. I know how to control my actions in my dream and even in the deepest part of my subconscious. I learned it a long time ago,' Yukari thought as she floated around in her mental landscape.

She is able to walk through her mental landscape with no problems at all. If it were any other people like humans weak youkais, then they would have a hard time doing it because they haven't grasped on how to move the inbetween. Majority of the old beings don't need to sleep or dream because they were the sleep or dream itself.

Yukari is one of the special people who can do it without using too much power. 'Time, energy, and efficiency is all that I need,' she thought as she continued to walk through the non-existent ground of her dream, still trying to find the other her. Yukari has to admit, she's curious about her other self. 'Maybe it's just a figment of my imagination,' she thought.

"I can assure you, Yukari Hakurei, it is not a figment of your imagination." Then out of the blue, somebody is talking to Yukari and her imagination. Yukari looked around, but she found nobody. 'Hmm, I think I have brain cancer,' Yukari thought, but the voice responded back to that. "And no, you don't have brain cancer. Here, let me show myself."

A giant eye appeared in front of Yukari as the being herself manifested in the most eldritch way possible. After she's done appearing herself, the girl wears casual clothes that are mixed with pajamas. She also has six eyes the size of a basketball around her. "My name is Satori Sweet, but you can call me Saccharine Enlightenment."

Yukari introduced herself in return. "My name is Yukari Hakurei, but you already seemed to know my name, though." She was cautious of the entity known as Saccharine Enlightenment. She thought to herself, 'I need to be careful around this girl. She might be dangerous.' But Saccharine somehow caught that despite Yukari not opening her mouth.

"Hmm, you can read minds and what they're thinking." Yukari already deduced what her power is. Saccharine is impressed on how fast she can figure out what her powers are by just three sentences. "I'm amazed. You're really smart, aren't you, shrine maiden of Hakurei shrine?" Yukari shrugged and said, "What can I say? It takes a massive amount of time to get where I am."

"I must warn you. Walking in your dream, subconscious, and everything in between is dangerous for a normal folk, but you aren't normal folk at all. But you already knew that since you're so smart." Yukari nodded and looked around to see some kind of AI mess. 'It kinda feels art, seeing those AI messes.' Saccharine raised an eyebrow. "AI mess? Is that what you call them?"

Yukari looked at Saccharine and said, "Yeah. Since you can travel to the outside world, I'm guessing you know what computers are, right?" Saccharine nodded, probably not knowing what Yukari was talking about. "Then I don't need to explain what an AI mess is. If that's all, then don't mind me exploring my own dream and subconscious." Yukari left Saccharine to explore the place.

"That is one interesting individual." Saccharine disappeared by being swallowed by a giant eye, leaving no trace of her in Yukari's mind. As Yukari walks around, she hears a windows ding sfx. "Ah, I remember that sound from when I was… *grunts* it seems like my memory is incomplete." Then she saw a broken piece that had the letter word M written on it.

"This must be my broken memory piece. If that's the case, then my mission today would be finding the other missing pieces. *sigh* And here I thought I was going to have a relaxing and peaceful sleep, but no. Apparently, that's never going to happen. Back then, everything was okay and quiet, but ever since that incident occurred, tons of bullshites keep happening."

After Yukari rants about how her life has so many problems, she grabs the broken memory piece. After receiving it, something played in the background. [Now playing Mega Man "Let There Be Light" by AmIEvil] Yukari listened to the catchy and ominous theme. "This theme is perfect for an event like this." Then Yukari continued to wander around, trying to find the broken memory pieces of her.

Along the way, Yukari encountered opponents from her childhood, but she doesn't remember any of those, so she didn't get scared. Instead, she defeated them like how she defeats her opponent in the real world. 'After wandering around, it seems like I have difficulties finding those memory pieces,' Yukari thought, but someone appeared.

It's the giant eye that Saccharine uses as her transportation. "Are you having a problem there? Don't worry. I'll guide you along the way. If you allow me, that is." Yukari thought about it, then she thinks it's for the best that the two minds work effectively and efficiently instead of one. "You can go with me. It seems like I forgot how to navigate through my mind. But as time passes, I'll remember how to."

Saccharine is happy that she can come with Yukari through this epic journey in the subconscious and dream. Yukari encountered yet another opponent, but this time, this opponent seems different. It's more powerful than the ones that Yukari encountered. The opponent's appearance is a giant tree that has apparitions floating around it.

'I don't remember this part in my childhood. It must be a figment of my imagination.' Saccharine caught this and said, "There are some truths and some are fake." Yukari listened and wanted to think about it, but not right now. She's about to go into a fight with this giant tree. Yukari hit it with her Shumatsu Sokudo Hassha-tai. It did a massive amount of damage, but it kept regenerating because it kept consuming the apparitions around it.

'I need to find a way to cut off its supplies,' Yukari thought as she swiftly swerved around the attacks of the giant tree. 'Who am I kidding, I can just use my boundary manipulation.' And Yukari did just that. She manipulated the boundary between supply and no supply. The giant tree has no supply now, so Yukari quickly dealt with it with ease. Before killing the giant tree, Saccharine said, "Here it is. Your regret. Your guilt. Your compassion. That's what's holding you back from using your true potential. What will you do?"

Yukari stopped to think about something. 'This is getting serious all of a sudden.' Saccharine gave two options to her. "Destroy it or leave it alone." Yukari thinks about her final answer. After a minute or two, she finally decided on her answer. "I'll leave it alone. There's a reason why it's there in the first place." Saccharine nodded at that.

"There's no right or wrong answers. Only an individual's answer is correct in their own way. Continue." The giant tree vanished into particles and left a memory piece. Yukari got two out of six pieces of the memory. She needs to find the other four. Yukari went around the area to find any collectibles.

She found none. Yukari moved on to the next location, which just consisted of platforms, spikes, opponents that sometimes moved and sometimes stayed in one place while attacking her. Yukari is too smart for that, though, so she found a way to move to the next area without doing the platform levels. "Too easy for me. Better luck next time, level."

Yukari continued and found two memory pieces on some random level. She looked around, thinking that someone or something was going to attack her out of the woodworks. Thirty minutes have passed and nobody is attacking her. She supposed that it's safe to grab the two memory pieces.

"You got another two pieces of your missing memory. I wonder though, do you really want to remember your past? Or do you want to forget it and move on? Only you have the answer to that." Saccharine cryptidly said as Yukari continued to walk. She thought about it, but she will deal with it when she finds the last missing memory piece.

Yukari now has four missing memory pieces out of six. Only two left that she needs to find. After that, well, she'll figure it out once she already has all of them. 'I completely forgot about the other me in poofy clothes. What to do? Saccharine said there are some truths and some are fake. I think I have an idea on what it means.'

After finishing that thought, she is outside a large pair of doors that probably leads to a final boss. "Final boss, huh, mate? I'll deal with it, then I can get out of here. I'll forget about the other me, finishing this dream sequence is more important, so I can sleep peacefully without being sent to the dream and subconscious area."

Yukari slowly and politely pushed the large pair of doors and went inside. She saw… "Saccharine Enlightenment. I'm guessing that you're the final boss. I already knew from the start." Saccharine came out from the giant eye and laughed at her. "What's so funny?" Saccharine shook her head in a clown manner and said, "You really don't know, do you? And here I am thinking that you're smart."

Yukari raised an eyebrow at that, getting tired with all the cryptic messages. "STOP WITH THE CRYPTIC MESSAGES BULLSHITE AND GET TO THE POINT." Saccharine just casually shrugged. "Those missing memory pieces that you're trying to gather and combine them, you know that once you merge them, well, let's just say that you're not going to have a good time."

Yukari racked her mind to think of what Saccharine said, then she finally got an answer. She figured it out all by herself. Yukari looked at the missing memory pieces. "...You know, I don't need to remember my memories. There is a reason why it's broken. Here. *throws the four memory pieces at Saccharine* I don't need it."

Saccharine looks shocked at this development. "B-But- Why-" Yukari cut her off by responding, "What? Didn't expect someone like me to not merge the memory pieces, am I right?" Yukari began to turn her back at Saccharine and was about to leave the subconscious, but Saccharine stopped her. "Of all the people, you're the only one who didn't do it."

Yukari glanced at her through her shoulder and said, "Because I'm smart enough to know that mental damage doesn't just fix itself." Then Yukari disappeared from her subconscious and back into the real world, leaving only Saccharine behind. "...Interesting. She knew that it would break her, so she avoided that by not merging the memory pieces. *looks at Yukari's memory pieces* It's not in my place to mess with it, so I'm just going to put them back where they belong."

In the real world where Yukari is sleeping on her western bed. She woke up. "That was a bizarre experience. Going to my subconscious through my dream, meeting a person who can somehow travel between dreams and read minds, and finding my broken memory pieces but didn't do it because I already knew what would happen. Truly, a bizarre experience."

Suddenly, the door to her bedroom was slammed open and in goes Mima with her rambling about some mushroom explosion that she found in her book. "Yukari! Look! It's a mushroom but bomb." Mima pointed something in the book, but Yukari shook her in a mildly infuriated manner and didn't even bother to look at the book.

"Mima… *looks at the clock inside her mind* It's three am in the morning. Go to sleep." Yukari goes back to lying down. Mima said, "Okay!" and goes back to her room in the shrine. Yukari didn't mind Mima using one of her rooms as long as nobody messes with her western bed. That's Yukari's most treasured item. "Western bed… sleep… other me in poofy clothes…" Yukari was fast asleep, mumbling cryptic messages that she doesn't want to hear.

Mima is still awake and reading her books about planets and space. "So cool. So cool. So cool. So- wait, this one is not cool. But this one-*points at a random page*-is so cool." After saying "so cool" so many times, she slept but she kept saying that word. Mima is now in her dream and subconscious. "What the!? Where am I?"

Mima looked around and found planets, suns, space, blackhole, and many things that are related to astronomy. "This place is weird. *touches a planet, but disappeared after being touched* According to the information that I read from a book a long time ago, I must be in my dream or subconscious or maybe even both!"

Mima rambled on as she walked to nowhere because she's thinking about space. After walking and reaching a certain distance, something appeared in the horizon. It's a celestial body coming right at Mima. "Uh oh, that can't be good! I gotta run now! *flew away because she doesn't have any physical legs, especially in her dream*"

The celestial body is coming closer to her faster than a turtle finishing a race before the bunny reaches the finish line. 'I can't die now! Oh wait.' Mima remembered that she's in a dream. 'How could I forget about that? I'll stand here and let that huge rock decide my fate. It's all a dream, anyway,' Mima thought as she stopped and let da rock hit her with a massive energy that's comparable to nine hundred thousand hydrogen bombs.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! And there was none. Mima instantly woke up and it's already morning. "*yawns* That was some dream, huh? I remembered that my dream is about… wait, why can't I remember it? Huh, what was I talking about again? It's probably not important. Alright, off I go to find more books!"

Mima then phased through the wall to find books that are related to her theme and ability. Meanwhile, Yukari is still sleeping. 'No incident… no disruption… no trouble… no… no nothing…' she thought as she dreams about something normal instead of that dream where she traverses her subconscious.

She kept mumbling in her sleep until she fell and hit the floor. THUD! "...Ow." Yukari is now awake from that. "Hmm… *looks around her room* …Back to sleep, I guess." Then she goes back to sleeping yet again. What a lazy shrine maiden. Who in their right mind put her as the protector of the realm? It must be some dumbass, huh?

"I'll have you know that I protected this realm more times than anything you can achieve in your entire lifetime… no incident… no disruption…" She talked to literally no one. She's probably talking to someone in her dream. "No… no nothing…" Yukari slept happily, then she felt something in the air. That something felt cold.

"Hmm, cold… so cold…" But Yukari was not having any of that because she's a heavy sleeper. You probably need to slap her right in the face to wake her up. The temperature keeps decreasing and it already reaches into the negative. "*yawns* …sleep… no incident… no disruption…" She keeps repeating the same thing over and over again.

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! Somebody is knocking at the door, but Yukari isn't awake and is still in dreamworld. KNOCK! KNOCK! The knocking stopped after the last two, then something sneaked inside the bedroom of Yukari. It's some type of shadow, then that shadow raise one hand on top of Yukari and-SLAP!-she woke up instantly.

"OI! WHO DID THAT?! I WAS SLEEPING!" Yukari's patience is long, but in the past few days, it has gotten shorter because of the incidents and problems that kept appearing out of the woodwork. "Yukari!" Then Rumia appeared from the shadows. "There's another incident going on!" Yukari goes back to sleep. SLAP! But nobody woke up, specifically Yukari.

"There's no time to sleep! Some idiot is trying to freeze the realm! And that idiot is probably strong! I need your strength to stop the person and prevent the incident!" Rumia kept on pulling Yukari's blanket, but Yukari is much stronger. Ergo, she didn't wake up. "...I can give you a luxurious bed." Then that work is what woke up Yukari instantly. "Well then, what are we waiting for? Let's go, then." Yukari thought, 'Another incident to solve… At least I get something out of this, which is a luxurious bed according to Rumia. The reward will be sweeter after I solve this.' Then off they go.
