After the ten walkers were chosen, you finally had a chance to speak with Aragorn. He had summoned you to his room while he was getting things ready so that he could go on one of the scouting parties.
"I'm going to be gone for awhile, Sky. It'll probably be a few months time. And no, you can't come with on this," he said, anticipating your question.
"I see," you replied, the disappointment was audible in your voice.
"You're better off here, it'll give you a chance to study in Elrond's libraries and try to find any information about yourself."
"But everyone is going except for the hobbits!" you argue.
"Please, just trust me on this, Sky. I didn't ask you to come see me just so we could argue."
"What did you ask to see me for then?"
"I wanted to know if you've had any more visions about the black tower lately. It could be useful to know if you've seen anything."
"I haven't and I'm a little hurt that you're only interested in me for my visions!" you said, getting defensive.
At those words, you saw hurt and a hint of pity appear in Aragorn's face. "Sky, you know its not like that. The roads will be dangerous and if the nazgul did indeed know you, then you may be being hunted. I care about you," he said kindly.
"I know... I'm sorry," you responded. You look down, feeling ashamed in yourself and you're momentary burst of anger. For awhile there is a sorrowful silence between you two. "There is something I'd like to ask you before you leave..." you trail off. Aragorn raises an eyebrow at you, silently asking you to go on. "What exactly happened after the nazgul took me? Legolas wouldn't give me the full details."
"Ah, yes. I wondered when this question was going to come back up. Sit down, Sky, I'll tell you all about it," he sits down at pats the bed beside him. You sit next to him. Aragorn sits in a thoughtful silence for a few moments, looking for the right words to say.
"After the wraith took you, he and the rest of the ringwraiths kept riding for the fords after Frodo. The one you were with stepped out into the water and called to Frodo, he tried to tempt or posses him into submitting to him and giving him the ring. They wanted to capture him as they did to you. Frodo resisted, bless his hobbit heart, and he held his sword up in defiance. But the wraith shattered it with his dark magics.
Then the flood waters came up, a defense created by Gandalf, they washed you and the nine wraiths away downstream. I sent the hobbits along to Rivendell to get aid while Glorfindel and I scoured the riverbanks, looking for any sign of you." Aragorn pauses for a moment before continuing. "Glorfindel and I found you some distance down the riverbank. Glorfindel saw you first from afar. He even saw a wraith kneeling beside you, chanting in the black speech. He was speeding up the fading process. Legolas joined us at this point and then the three of us charged at the wraith. The wraith, he was outnumbered and I suppose he had figured you were too far gone to be recalled."
An emotional silence filled the room again, allowing you a few moments to take in the whole story.
Aragorn started again, "When we finally got close to you, you were speaking in the black speech. We were all worried you were beyond recall. I picked you up and carried you to Rivendell. Once here, you were healed by the skillful knowledge of Elrond."
"When I woke up, you said Frodo had been harder for him to recall..."
"You were further faded than Frodo, but he was harder to recall. Do not forget that you are blessed with the remarkable healing abilities of the elves. Does that answer all of your questions?"
"I believe it does for now..." you sit there thinking for a bit. You wonder if you should tell Aragorn about how you spoke with Sauron, though there wasn't much to tell about the experience. He had offered you your memory back in exchange for your loyalty. You had almost accepted his offer, and you still felt a little guilty about it. Due to this guilt, you decide not to tell Aragorn.
While you were thinking, Aragorn finished packing his stuff for the scouting mission that he is about to embark on. Aragorn places a hand on your shoulder. You look up into his face. "Now, are you going to come and see me off or are you going to sit here for the rest of the day?"
"I will see you off. I already saw Legolas off this morning."
"I figured you would. Let us go then," Aragorn says, showing you out the door to his room.
You walk together to the very outside of the home. It was a rather nice day, it reminded you of the beginning of your journey to Rivendell with Aragorn. You two stand for a moment, taking in the warmth of the sun.
"I suppose, this is where we part," you say softly. "Please, travel safe."
"I will Sky," says Aragorn. He gently brushes some stray hairs out of your face. "While I'm gone, I do very much recommend that you look through the libraries for information about yourself. I believe Elrond will help you with this, he is a lore master and he seems to see you as an anomaly."
"I will. I will miss you." You feel a tear come to your eye.
"I will miss you too, but I will be back before too long provided that all goes well," Aragorn replies, wiping the tear away. "Farewell."
"Farewell."
With those parting words, Aragorn turned and departed. He did not look back as you watched him until he was out of your farseeing vision. Suddenly you feel very much alone. The two people you trusted most were gone.
