Fox was in an interesting situation to say the least. He had passed, he had become a part of the legendary ANBU black ops. He knew of what he had to sacrifice to this job and he was willing to if it meant that the Village of the Hidden Leaf was safe.
He had to sacrifice a lot, his hair had to be cut short, his identity was to remain a secret, and most of all, he would have to kill those who would be a threat to the Village of Hidden Leaf.
He understood this and he also understood the other reason he had joined ANBU, to eliminate what remains of ROOT, though Danzo was dead, its members had remained at work.
He needed to find these members and the council people who supported Danzo and either eliminate them ( for council people) or help them (in case of the root soldiers).
Root members are soldiers who from the time they get 'adopted' into ROOT are soldiers who have been turned into emotionless killing machines.
Even though his mission was secret and of utmost importance, he went through the same processes all other ANBU did and succeeded just like every other member.
Right now, they were waiting for their Captain, Dog, who was receiving a mission directly from the sixth Hokage himself, Kakashi Hatake.
His team was made up of Owl, Wolf, Bear, Himself and their Captain, Dog.
Owl had short hair, with translucent pale skin and a former member of ROOT. This was Sai, an old friend of Fox.
The others don't matter.
"What do you think the mission is?" asked Fox to his teammates.
"Most likely a mission where we guard someone important," said Owl to Fox, almost uninterested.
"Yeah" agreed Wolf but at this time, Dog arrived. Dog had brown hair and white skin, he was dressed in Anbu outfit just like them.
In Anbu he was a captain and was respected by all the members of his team.
"Listen up, the mission is simple, a group of escaped prison nins are headed for the village, we need to find the group and eliminate them before they arrive," said the Captain sternly.
Suddenly they began their move towards the location of the extremely dangerous group. The journey was quick as ANBU were trained to not need much rest and to be stealthy in their movements.
"How far is the group from the village?" asked Fox as they hopped through the forest.
"A day at most, for Shinobi but 3 for normal, a few hours for us," said Owl behind Fox.
"Can they use any abilities?" asked Fox.
"Yes, meaning this will have to be silent, remember Fox, they are former Shinobi and we like to minimise casualties, so keep out of sight" said Dog to Fox who listened intently.
When they arrived the escapees had set up camp. The escapees had spread themselves out, they should have stayed together.
Splitting up was their first mistake.
The Anbu split themselves up with Fox sneaking up on two guarding the area towards the path of the village.
He dropped himself into the bushes, they didn't see him but he clearly gained their attention by the sound. Many would think that this was a mistake but rather a way to split up the group.
"Hey go investigate," said the guard on the right to his 'friend'.
"Why me?" asked the guard on the left.
"Because I said so, now go!" ordered the guard on the right, as he walked towards the bushes.
He walked into them, almost noticing the Anbu but by the time he did, his throat had been slit with a kunai and his vocal cords were no longer operational.
Fox laid him down and snuck up behind the remaining guard, who began to grow impatient and called out to his friend.
"What is going on in there?" asked the guard calling out to his friend but suddenly felt the cold steel of a kunai at his throat "wait-".
He never got to finish his sentence as Fox slit his throat without remorse. The body of the remaining guard slumped up against him and Fox dragged off into another set of bushes.
He silently placed himself down and went to work to the members inside the parameter that had been built. He saw tents clearly with someone sleeping as he could hear the snoring.
He snuck and saw a big man who would clearly be a problem if he woke up. Fox ensured that the big man would sleep … forever.
He snuck out to find the rest of the escapees dead. Fox then received the symbol to retreat and they disappeared just like that.
They arrived back at the base and received their commission for the mission and entered the locker room.
Fox first removed his armour and the rest of his clothing, showing off his body filled with muscles from hours of training. He then changed into clothes of orange with the symbol of the village on his shoulder.
He then took off his mask which revealed his handsome and young face with whiskers on his cheeks. His blond hair was out to the wind and he put a small smile.
Naruto Uzumaki shunshined home to see his wife and a few months old son, after all tomorrow was another day.
