Deidara forgot his birthday.

Sasori noticed it right away. Usually, the blond would be on him as soon as his eyes opened first thing in the morning. Showering him with everything he could imagine. This morning? Not so much. Not a word, not an action. Deidara was treating it like any other Tuesday. Albeit a lovely any other Tuesday.

Still... Weird.

Sasori huffed but shrugged it off. There was no need to be huffing and puffing for affection! Knowing his silly husband, the brat probably had some sort of surprise for him planned for tonight. That is that's what he thought, that is until it didn't happen.

The dinner was a simple meal and the dessert consisted of an ice cream bar and a hand- A handy dandy kiss! You know, typical daily things. Handy dandy typical things.

"Night babe," Deidara said as he kissed Sasori long and hard, just enough to make Sasori think something was going to happen- before turning on his side to fall asleep.

Sasori lay back in bed confused; his husband not being all over him. Especially today of all days whilst being adorned in something sexy? Inconceivable! Unless... Okay. Now it made sense. Deidara was pranking him for his birthday! This brat. Well! Too bad for him, he caught onto the prank. Sooner or later he'd be busting out a love bomb at any moment.

That is until the next day went by, all the same. The only difference was they were back to work.

"Is he waiting for the weekend?" Sasori hummed as he tapped his fingers, watching the little morning birds fly outside the teacher's lounge window.

Kakashi looked at his fellow teacher looking cross into a blank void. If he thought he was still watching birds, he was mistaken. Very unusual for the focused and always on-point man that he knew.

"You okay?" he asked.

"Mm..."

Kakashi was bewildered. Sasori didn't even correct his grammar!

"Akasuna, you can tell me." Kakashi sat next to his coworker, "Is there a student acting up? Are you having a problem with an art project?"

Sasori sighed as he was dragged away from his daydreaming, "Deidara forgot my birthday."

Kakashi felt bad for feeling bewildered before. No. No, he didn't. This was upright shocking.

"Never.." he gasped, "Never would I have thought you would be having marital problems."

Of course, it wouldn't be a common normal problem. Sexual infidelity, fighting about money, value differences, and different life stages. Typical couples issues that anyone hearing of the couple but not meeting the couple would think they would have. But no, not even Sasori's overall heartlessness. It was Deidara forgetting his beloved husband's birthday. Yikes.

"I thought it was a prank, or perhaps he was delaying it..." Sasori admitted, in a way admitting he was wrong which was painful enough, "but it's been a couple of days and still nothing. He's back at work today and I got... nothing."

"Back to work?" Kakashi repeated back. "So he had the past few days off?"

"Yeah, I assumed his boss gave them to him for... Well me. But I guess I was wrong."

Kakashi furrowed his brow, "Say, what time does he start his back to work?" he asked anxiously.

Sasori looked at his wristwatch, "About forty minutes ago."

"How far is his job from here?"

"About thirty minutes, twenty-five if he's being his reckless self. Why?"

Looking out the window, Kakashi looked around the parking lot, the street, and the road. Just looking around as a cold November chill went up his spine.

"Don't you understand? He's coming."

"What?" Sasori asked, looking around and not seeing anything for once. "He's coming?"

The bell for school rang.

Kakashi sighed and gave Sasori's back a pat, "As soon as he walks into work, he'll get asked about your birthday weekend. He'll realize his mistake and all hell will break loose."

"Oh? Oh..." A sudden weakness took over Sasori as he grasped the window, "Dear lord he's coming... any minute now and he'll be here and he'll..." he grabbed the face that Deidara loved to smother with kisses. "I'm going to be mauled to death by his-"

"Love?" Kakashi attempted to finish.

Sasori shook his head and pulled his hands down his face, "His whining."

-x-

Kakashi saw it coming but was still surprised when he was asked to take care of Sasori's first class of the day. he was going to offer to fill in anyway. No doubt about it, Deidara was going to show up and take up much of Sasori's time, and by not what your thinking. By the way that Sasori had told him earlier, the blond would probably have an emotional nuclear meltdown.

"He's a bomb with his emotions."

Kakashi sighed as he recalled Sasori's shaken voice. The powerful man he knew, was left to be nothing but a hollow shell as he waited for the inevitable outcome of Deidara's own mistake. What an awful birthday gift. Oddly enough it was quiet in Sasori's classroom. All was going well this morning and no one asked where he was. Things were looking good!

Until there was a loud noise through the school, ringing through the halls. A horrendous noise.

"What the hell is the drama club up to? A crying match?" A boy snarled, covering his ears. A couple of other kids by the doorway also covered them.

Kakashi ignored the murmurs of Sasori's students and calmly closed the door. There was no other way he could handle Deidara's whining. That was Sasori's problem. Closing the door on Deidara's vocal bomb siren was all he could do.

"Happy birthday, old man."

He wanted love? He got love.
