Whomping Willow Tunnel, Hogwarts, 3/5/1996, 21:48

Fenrir and three of his packmates were slowly making their way through the low-ceilinged earthen tunnel that led from the Shrieking shack to the Hogwarts grounds. Fenrir was delighted to learn that Dumbledore hadn't sealed up this tunnel, making sneaking into Hogwarts quite simple.

All four of them were starting to feel the pull of the moon, they knew the transformation was minutes away so they were trying to make it to the other end before the transformation started.

It had been too long since he had let the wolf run loose in Britain and Fenrir planned to make up for old times. Tonight his pack would finally get the blood they had been promised by that pale noseless wizard. With any luck, the pack may even gain some new members.

They finally reached the end of the tunnel and came to a stop at the mouth of the Tunnel with Fenrir closest to the exit. The four men could easily make out the Hogwarts grounds through the tunnel entrance, the lights from the castle casting squares of orange light over the pristine lawn. The clouds were currently covering the moon but the four of them could still see quite well due to their enhanced vision, one of the many perks of being a werewolf.

Fenrir grinned and looked back at his packmates, "we're heading for the Hufflepuff common room. When we get inside the school, kill anything that moves," Fenrir ordered.

"You got it, I haven't had young prey in years," Jacob muttered.

Personally, Fenrir would prefer to attack the Slytherin common room since that house was the house that spawned most of the politicians. Those disgusting politicians created laws that persecuted his kind and made them less than second-class citizens.

The bald red-eyed wizard would also take offence if werewolves attacked the children of his servants and Fenrir needed him... for now.

There was also the fact that Fenrir did not know where the Slytherin common room was, so he would have to settle for his old house's common room.

Fenrir was pulled from his thoughts as he started to feel the painful squirming feeling in his stomach that always preceded the transformation. Behind him, his packmates began to scream in agony as their transformations began, their screams music to his ears.

Fenrir grinned viciously having come to enjoy the feeling of transforming into Greyback. He revelled in the pain knowing he was moments away from tearing into flesh and tasting blood.

Fenrir felt his bones start rearranging as his skeletal structure began to transform. The sickening sounds of his joints popping out of place echoed through the tunnel. His chest started to expand, his shoulders tearing through his robes. He was bent forward as his spine rearranged so he was forced onto all fours. Thick black hair quickly sprouted all over his body. His head stretched outward and his ears grew long and pointed as they shifted higher up on his head. His teeth grew into three-inch fangs and his finger and toenails grew into razor-sharp claws and his vision sharpened so that he could see as clear as day even in the dark tunnel. Fenrir was forced to exit the tunnel as his body grew much too large to fit in the narrow tunnel.

Outside of the tunnel, a massive creature the size of a small bear literally exploded out of the earth sending dust and dirt flying. The alpha werewolf leapt ten feet through the air and hit the ground running on four powerful legs, its long razor-sharp claws gouging into the ground as it nimbly avoided the branches of the violent tree.

Three other slightly small werewolves followed behind their alpha and had no trouble avoiding the branches of the whomping willow that lashed out at them.

The alpha waited for his packmates to catch up to him before he called out to the night.

'HOOOOOOOWOOOOOOO'

Fenrir drew air through his nostrils, picking up an intoxicating scent close by. He could feel his excitement building as he smelled his favourite prey of all... children!

Fenrir tore off across the lawn towards the castle his pack hot on his heels. The pack of wolves built themselves into a frenzy as the smell got stronger the nearer they got to the school. Their animal instincts pushing them to sate their lust for blood, flesh, and bone.

'HOOOOOOOWOOOOOOO'

Fenrir howled excitedly as he charged forward and smashed his way through the front doors with a deafening 'BANG.'

Tonight they would feed!

Grand Staircase, Hogwarts, 3/5/1996, 21:53

Tonks was a bit unhappy that she was forced to return to the Hufflepuff common room. Albus had insisted that she return there tonight for whatever reason. The fact that Dumbledore knew that she hadn't been sleeping in the Hufflepuff dorms gave her pause, and was the main reason she hadn't put up much of an argument.

She had just finished up her evening training with Harry, though both of them were a bit distracted tonight. Both of them knew what was going on in Diagon Alley tonight and that the chances were good there was going to be a werewolf attack tonight.

They had been practising a spell from the Black spellbook called the rotting cut. The spell was disgusting, it caused a deep gash to appear on the victim's body and the flesh around the cut would quickly rot away. The spell would slowly consume whoever was hit by the curse and there was no countercurse.

Personally, she had no use for such a spell but they needed to know how to identify it. Neither she nor Harry had any luck casting the spell and had decided to call it a night twenty minutes ago.

So here she was walking down the grand staircase in her Wendy disguise. She was making her way down from the seventh floor. She was already ten minutes late for curfew, not that she cared.

They had left the room at the warning bell but she had gotten held up walking Harry to Gryffindor Tower but that was mostly so she could spend get a proper goodnight kiss. She knew that she wouldn't be getting much sleep tonight. She had gotten used to sharing a bed with Harry every night. Tomorrow night she would get some rest but tonight she knew she had tossing and turning to look forward to.

Tonks was almost to the entrance hall and had just passed the second-floor landing when she was pulled from her thoughts by a sound that made her blood run cold.

'HOOOOOOOOOWOOOOOOOO!'

Tonks stopped halfway down the stairs, she quickly fumbled in her school bag before drawing her sidearm and letting her bag drop onto the stairs with a soft 'thump'.

'How could there be werewolves on Hogwarts grounds?' Tonks thought to herself as she listened for another howl, praying she wouldn't hear one.

'HOOOOOOOWOOOOOOO'

"Fuck! That sounded way too close to be coming from the forest," Tonks exclaimed to herself as she racked the slide on her pistol.

Tonks felt adrenaline spike as she prepared for an encounter with a werewolf, the last howl was much closer than the first leaving her with little doubt as to the direction the creature was heading.

Tonks was still trying to figure out her best course of action when the entry doors were slammed open with tremendous force as a massive wolf burst into the entrance hall.

Tonks spun around and fired before she even processed what she was seeing. Her first two shots struck the flagstone floor due to shaking hands but the third, fourth, and fifth shots hit the wolf square in the chest.

'HOOOOOOOOOWOOOOO!'

The wolf howled in agony as the soluble wax that the bullets were coated in started dissolving in the animal's bloodstream. Once the wax had completely dissolved, the silver began to poison the creature's bloodstream at an incredible rate. The skin around the gunshot wound began turning a nasty black colour that quickly spread across its chest as big patches of fur fall away, the silver literally destroying the werewolf from the inside out.

The wolf staggered slightly as the silver began to take effect. Tonks could just make out a patch of grey fur on its back as it stumbled into the hall before the animal's amber eyes focused on her.

Tonks felt the fear in her stomach as the werewolf curled its upper lip exposing three-inch canines dripping with saliva. The animal's claws left shallow scratches on the flagstone as it stalked towards her, a deep growl reverberating in the wolf's throat as it crouched low, preparing to lunge at her.

Tonks realized that the silver in the animal's bloodstream would not be enough to kill it before it reached her and knew she would have to make her next shots count.

Taking a deep breath, Tonks fired three more shots in quick succession as the animal charged forward. Two shots hit it in the throat causing it to make a piteous shrieking sound. The third shot hit it in the left eye, stopping it in its tracks. The wolf let out one last gurgling howl before it collapsed, dead before it hit the ground.

Tonks was just about to lower her weapon when another wolf burst into the hall, this one a light brown colour with long pointed ears.

"Shit how the hell did you get in here?!" Tonks exclaimed as she fired two more shots, hitting the new arrival in the left flank just above the shoulder.

Before she could finish the second wolf off, another wolf came through the door and she fired three more shots. She missed on the two shots but hit it square in the face with the third, much to her relief.

The second wolf was still limping towards the stairs and Tonks was forced to fire another shot, this one hitting it in the side of the head, just below the ear and dropping it in its tracks.

Tonks groaned when a fourth werewolf burst into the hall and locked its amber eyes on her, she hastily fired another shot only to hear a 'click.' and she realized with a sinking feeling that the unthinkable had happened, she was out of ammo!

She had hit it in the shoulder joint but Tonks knew that wouldn't be enough to stop the wolf before it reached her. Tonks dropped the pistol and drew her wand preparing to cast a spell when the larger-than-life-sized suits of armour on either side of the doorway came to life and plunged their spears through the wolf's back, impaling it to the floor with a sickening crunch.

Tonks turned to see Albus standing a few steps above her looking very grave as he directed his wand at the suits of armour.

"Albus, thank god," Tonks said, feeling a wave of relief wash over her.

"You handled that very well, Auror Tonks," Professor Dumbledore said, giving her an approving smile.

"You got here just in the nick of time, headmaster," Tonks sighed as she turned to look back at the entry hall to make sure none of the werewolves got back up.

"Those muggle inventions are quite loud though there is no arguing that they are effective," Dumbledore sighed as he flicked his wand.

Tonks watched as the suits of armour removed their spears from the dead werewolf and returned to their plinths, their spear tips now coated in dark red blood.

"The big one is-

"Fenrir Greyback," Dumbledore said as he surveyed the four dead werewolves lying on the entrance hall floor.

"Why would they attack here?" Tonks asked as she picked the empty pistol up off of the stairs.

"I fear that this was meant as a diversion, the real attack will happen very soon if it is not already," Albus said as the two of them walked down to the ground floor, Tonks stopping to scoop up her school bag along the way.

"Then we need to get to the alley," Tonks said in alarm.

"I would prefer if you return to the Hufflepuff common room, I will go to Diagon Alley and give the order aid but you are needed here," Dumbledore said as he cast a spell that sent four patronus messengers zooming through the school.

"But Albus-

"Nymphadora, you will have your chance to fight but you cannot abandon your post," Dumbledore said in a patient tone.

"There is no more danger here," Tonks argued feeling unbelievably frustrated about being sidelined yet again.

"We do not know if these are the only intruders in the castle, I will alert the ministry of what has transpired here but for the time being you are the only ministry official on campus," Dumbledore implored.

"I did not join the order to be locked away in this damn school during every engagement," Tonks scowled.

"I understand your frustration but your cover is more important than any help you can lend in battle, this right here is exactly why you are needed in the castle," Dumbledore said as he gestured around the entrance hall.

"Fine, tell shack I need some more silver bullets," Tonks sighed as she made her way to the stairs leading down to the kitchens.

"I will tell him, I will also inform Amelia of what happened here tonight. You can expect a commendation for slaying Fenrir Greyback," Dumbledore said sounding relieved.

"Whatever, good night Albus," Tonks said dully before stepping onto the stairs.

"Do hurry, the common room entrances will be sealed up in four minutes," Dumbledore called after her.

She knew Albus that was right and that she had to maintain her cover here. Still, it was really starting to frustrate her that she was being kept out of the fight because of her ability to look like a teenager.

She felt like she did when she was attending school, wishing that she wasn't a metamorph. The ability had many perks but it came with its own share of problems especially from teenage boys, though thankfully Harry didn't seem to care much about that. Tonight was the first time since she had joined the auror corp that she had considered quitting.

Since September, she had been assigned a post simply because of her abilities and hadn't been given real auror work since the summer. True she liked being able to spend so much time with Harry but she felt so useless being trapped in this castle while other aurors were out there risking their lives.

Tonks arrived at the barrels and tapped the password into the middle barrel with her wand. She quickly stepped into the tunnel that led into the common room.

Tonks stepped into the common room just before the entrance slammed shut behind her. Dumbledore had sealed all of the entrances to the house common rooms, putting the school in lockdown for the night. So all she could do now was twiddle her thumbs and wait for morning.

"You look hacked off, did Potter do something stupid?" Susan asked as soon as he spotted Tonks entering the common room.

"Huh?" Tonks asked dumbly.

"Word going around the castle is that you're dating Harry," Susan said as she came over to Tonks.

Tonks looked the redhead over noticing that the other girl was already dressed in pink pajamas and wearing a pair of fluffy unicorn slippers.

"Who said that?" Tonks asked trying to wipe the scowl off of her face.

"He told Ginny Weasley that when she asked him out the other morning," Susan shrugged as she hooked Tonks' arm and led her to one of the overstuffed couches by the fireplace.

"That bint asked him out?" Tonks asked irritably, letting the younger girl steer her without complaint.

"Yeah, that's what I heard from Seamus," Susan shrugged.

"Alright we are dating but he was supposed to keep it quiet, " Tonks sighed as she plopped onto the couch.

"I believe Granger forced it out of him," Susan admitted as she sat cross-legged beside her.

"I figured you'd be mad," Tonks admitted as she looked over at the younger girl.

"You mean because of Hannah?" Susan asked.

"Yeah, I know you two were really close," Tonks shrugged.

"Hannah and Harry were a cute couple but they would have broken up eventually. They really were too different to have worked long-term. Harry was good to her but I think she would have wanted him to move on," Susan said with a sad smile.

"I still feel bad about how I acted towards her," Tonks admitted.

"Trust me, we all knew why you acted the way you did. Hannah was just glad you were here to protect me," Susan said casually.

"What?!" Tonks hissed looking sharply at the other girl.

"Auntie told me who you are over break, Wendy," Susan said softly.

"And yet she gave me the loose lips sink ships talk," Tonks snorted.

"So why were you looking like you want to strangle someone when you came into the common room?" Susan asked, sounding like she wanted to change the subject from Hannah.

"There was a pack of werewolves in the entrance hall, I ran into them on my way here," Tonks whispered.

"You're kidding!?" Susan exclaimed her face losing colour.

"They're all dead," Tonks assured the other girl.

"You-

" Yep, those new toys work," Tonks smirked.

"Auntie will be pleased about that, the raid on Malfoy manor funded all of those silver bullets," Susan said with a vicious grin.

"Well I'm out of ammo," Tonks snorted.

"Great, hopefully there are no more of them or we'll have to resort to that silver arrow spell," Susan said as she looked at the common room door warily.

"The school is on lockdown, Albus sealed up the house common rooms as I stepped through the tunnel," Tonks assured her.

"Thank god, werewolves scare the hell out of me," Susan admitted.

"Trust me, I understand," Tonks nodded.

"So you wouldn't happen to know who offed Malfoy, would you?" Susan asked quietly.

"No it's a cold case from what I've heard from Shack," Tonks answered evasively.

"I wish I knew who snapped that bastard's neck so I could thank them," Susan sighed.

"Well from what I gather he made quite a few enemies around the school," Tonks shrugged, not liking this line of conversation.

"Yeah, you're looking at one of them," Susan snorted.

"So what's the deal with you and Seamus?" Tonks asked hoping to change the subject to something a bit safer.

"I think his accent is sexy," Susan shrugged.

"What about that leprechaun thing?" Tonks asked with a teasing grin.

"Well he's not hung like a centaur but he's not a gnome down there either," Susan giggled.

"From what Harry says, Granger started that rumour," Tonks admitted.

"Seamus said the same thing, so now it's your turn to share," Susan said.

"Huh?" Tonks asked dumbly.

"Harry of course," Susan said.

"I haven't ever seen him undressed," Tonks admitted.

Before Susan could reply, Tonks felt her auror badge buzz and she discreetly pulled it out of her pocket.

"What's happened?" Susan demanded.

"Bones called in all off-duty aurors, code three," Tonks said glumly as she slid her badge back into her pocket.

"I wonder what's going on," Susan mumbled.

"So do I," Tonks said, already having a suspicion of exactly what the call was about.

"Auntie already has two squadrons on standby twenty-four seven so it must be bad if she's calling in everybody," Susan muttered.

"I know, I think I'm going to go change real quick," Tonks said as she got up.

"I'll go see about finding us some cocoa," Susan offered.

"That would be nice," Tonks said gratefully before she began climbing the stairs to her dorm.

Tonks hoped nobody was killed in the attack on Diagon Alley but she doubted it was a realistic thing to hope for. If they were lucky they would just be fighting death eaters but Tonks knew in her bones that they wouldn't be that lucky.

"God I hope the order is careful tonight,' Tonks thought to herself as she began to change into her flannel pajamas.

Gryffindor Common Room, Hogwarts, 3/5/1996, 22:06

Harry was sitting on his favourite couch in front of the fireplace trying to distract himself from his thoughts with his Transfiguration homework. He wasn't getting much done as he couldn't focus on the essay he was trying to write as his thoughts kept drifting to Tonks.

He was still a bit annoyed that Dumbledore had insisted that Tonks be in the common room tonight. He knew it was so she could fulfil her primary role at Hogwarts which was to be Susan's bodyguard but Harry highly doubted Bones had anything to worry about.

He hadn't slept in his dorm in almost a month and the prospect of doing so tonight wasn't appealing at all. He was worried that without her the nightmares would come back, it was childish but he always felt safer when she was with him.

If that wasn't enough to think about then there was also the fact that tonight was the full moon. From what he had gleaned from Tonks, it was highly likely that there was going to be an attack tonight. The order was on high alert and Diagon Alley was believed to be the target.

Harry was brought out of his thoughts as the portrait hole burst open and Hermione rushed inside looking very worried.

Harry immediately shut his Transfiguration book, sensing that something was wrong as he watched Hermione make a beeline for him.

"What's up?" Harry asked as soon as she took a seat beside him.

"Fenrir Greyback was in the castle," Hermione whispered.

"Who?" Harry asked blankly.

"The most infamous werewolf in Europe," Hermione whispered impatiently.

"What?!" Harry exclaimed as he felt his stomach twist.

"He ran into your girlfriend and Dumbledore. From what I could tell from the map, Greyback and the other werewolves are dead," Hermione assured him.

"Wendy killed Greyback?" Harry asked in surprise before he froze.

Harry just realized something, Wendy's name wouldn't show up on the map. The map never lied so that would mean...

"Yes, though it's funny you should mention Wendy because her name shows up as someone else on the map," Hermione said, giving him a pointed look.

"How long have you known?" Harry asked, giving Hermione an apologetic look.

"Since you lent me the map last month," Hermione said with a shrug.

"So that thing at breakfast the other morning?" Harry asked.

"Was mostly just payback for keeping it from me since September," Hermione shrugged.

"Well never mind that now, I have to go see if she's alright," Harry said as he made to get up.

"You can't, the headmaster sealed all of the common room entrances," Hermione told him.

"How do you know that?" Harry asked as he slumped back into his seat.

"Headmaster Dumbledore sent me and Anthony a patronus telling us we had five minutes to return to our common rooms as the school was going into lockdown," Hermione replied.

"Dammit!" Harry muttered wishing he had some way to make sure she was okay.

"I am sure she is fine, the dots of the werewolves didn't get anywhere close to hers before they vanished off of the map. She was on her way to the Hufflepuff common room last time I checked," Hermione assured him.

"Where is she now?" Harry demanded wanting to make sure she made it to her common room.

"Hold on," Hermione said as she pulled the map from her robe pocket.

Harry watched her unfold the map and whisper the passphrase before she scanned it, her eyes darting rapidly over the parchment until she located the dot labelled Nymphadora Tonks.

"She's in the Hufflepuff common room, it looks like she's talking to Susan Bones," Hermione said, giving him a reassuring smile.

"Thank god," Harry sighed in relief.

"I don't think this is over yet," Hermione admitted.

"Dumbledore thinks that Diagon Alley is going to be attacked soon," Harry admitted.

"So maybe the attack here was just meant to keep Dumbledore held up at the castle," Hermione said thoughtfully.

"I don't think that worked, there's Dumbledore," Harry said pointing to a dot that was heading towards the main gates.

"Well, there is nothing we can do now," Hermione sighed.

"Sometimes I really hate being stuck in this damn castle," Harry sighed.

"Personally I'm relieved," Hermione admitted.

"What?" Harry asked in confusion.

"The fight is out there and we're safe in here, that's how this is supposed to work, Harry," Hermione said as if it were obvious.

"It never has before," Harry snorted.

"I know but this is how things are supposed to go, the adults fight dark wizards and we study for our O W Ls," Hermione shrugged.

"Let's talk about something else," Harry scowled.

"Alright, is there really something going on with you and Tonks or is it just a cover for the training she's giving you?" Hermione asked with interest.

"Hermione," Harry sighed.

"Oh come on this has been killing me," Hermione pressed.

"Why are you so nosy?" Harry sighed.

"I'm naturally inquisitive," Hermione replied undeterred by his exasperated tone.

"Fine it's not a cover," Harry confessed, his face heating up.

"I guess poor Ginny never had a shot," Hermione sighed.

"No, though if she had been single last summer then who knows what would have happened," Harry shrugged.

"I thought you had a crush on her at headquarters," Hermione smirked.

"Well it doesn't matter now, I hope she wasn't too upset," Harry said as he glanced at the map, noticing that Tonks had gone to her dorm.

"She'll be fine, I think that she's already moving on," Hermione beamed as she gestures to the other side of the common room.

Harry glanced in the direction Hermione indicated and saw that Ginny was sitting very close to Dean Thomas on one of the loveseats.

"Ron is not going to be happy," Harry snorted.

"No, probably not. Where is Ron at, anyway?" Hermione asked.

"Tutoring Romilda Vane in French," Harry smirked.

"Honestly what is with him and dating flirty airheads?" Hermione sniggered.

"Jealousy isn't a good look on you," Harry smirked.

"Trust me I am not jealous, I am quite happy with my relationship," Hermione huffed.

"I'm glad you brought that up, what's the deal with you and Boot?" Harry asked.

"We started studying together in the library," Hermione said, her cheeks colouring slightly.

"I told you one of those nerdy Ravenclaws would sweep you off your feet," Harry said, a smug smile playing on his lips.

"I had to make the first move, actually," Hermione replied.

"I guess I'll have to have a chat with Boot," Harry said absentmindedly.

"Excuse me?" Hermione asked sharply.

"Me and Ron will have to give him the big brother talk to make sure he behaves himself," Harry explained as if it were obvious

"Oh hell no, you two apes will keep your noses out of my relationship or else," Hermione said flatly.

"You do realise how hypocritical that sounds after the other morning, don't you?" Harry asked, unable to hide his amusement.

"I was just curious about who you were dating, I did not try to intimidate your girlfriend," Hermione pointed out.

"Fair enough but if he does anything-

"Then I will deal with him myself," Hermione assured, cutting him off mid-sentence.

"Fine, we'll stay out of it," Harry sighed, knowing that Hermione would make his and Ron's life miserable otherwise.

"Thank you, he's shy enough as it is," Hermione said with a fond smile.

"As long as you're happy, maybe it'll give me and Ron a bit of peace," Harry grinned.

"Don't count on it," Hermione shot back.

"I think I am going to turn in," Harry said after a few minutes of companionable silence.

"I think I will too," Hermione said as she got up and stretched.

"Is that a lovebite, Hermione?" Harry asked in amusement as her hair shifted to the side and he saw a pink mark on the right side of her neck.

"Good night, Harry," Hermione exclaimed, darting up the stairs before Harry could see her blushing face.

Harry chuckled to himself at finally getting a little payback on Hermione before he lazily gathered up his stuff and made his way up to the dorms.

Harry made his way up the stairs and his mind drifted to his earlier thoughts, he began to wondering what was happening in Diagon Alley right now. Not for the first time, Harry thought about sneaking out of the castle but he doubted he could leave the common room much less the school while the castle was on lockdown.

As he changed into his pajamas he looked at his empty bed and lamented the fact that he would be sleeping alone tonight. Still, he was quite content in the knowledge that Tonks would not be in the middle of a battle tonight... well another battle.

Harry climbed under the covers wondering how the fight Hermione had described had gone, he bet she had used that gun of hers. In the end, he didn't really care how things had gone down with Greyback, he was just glad she was okay.

'At least Tonks is safe in the castle tonight,' Harry thought to himself as he began going through his occlumency and drifted into a restless sleep.

Diagon Alley, London, 3/5/1996, 21:59

The alley was almost deserted at this time of night, all of the shops were already closed up, the only exceptions being the Leaky Cauldron pub and the people wandering in and out of the entrance to Knockturn Alley.

Bill Weasley walked the alley with his assigned partner while Shack and Jones patrolled the other side of the alley near Gringotts. Moody and Sirius were watching over the residential part of Diagon Alley from broomsticks while Podmore and Emmeline patrolled that sector on foot.

Bill had a very bad feeling about tonight. Something told him that if there was an attack here, it would be much worse than anything they had planned for.

Bill had heard word that the school had already been attacked by a handful of werewolves not five minutes ago. From what he gathered, it had been stopped before anything could happen and all of the werewolves involved were dead.

That attack had also been a successful test of the ministry's counter-werewolf measures. According to the headmaster's patronus, the silver bullets worked as advertised and stopped werewolves very effectively.

That didn't do them much good as Kingsley Shacklebolt was the only one on patrol tonight who was armed with the new weapon and he was on the other side of the alley. This meant that they would still have to rely on the traditional methods if they encountered a lycanthrope which was not very effective. Werewolves were resistant to magic and unbelievably fast making them difficult to fight.

"Do not worry mon amour, we will be fine," Fleur Delacour whispered to him pulling him from his musings.

"I have a bad feeling about tonight," Bill whispered back as they passed the wand shop.

"I do not zink zey will-

Fleur suddenly trailed off as her body went rigid and her azure blue eyes began to darken until her eyes were pitch black.

" What is it?" Bill asked warily as he looked around the alley.

"I can smell ze werewolves, zey are close," Fleur said as she focused on the entrance to Knockturn Alley.

'HOOOOOOOOWOOOOOOOOOO!'

Bill fumbled with his wand and quickly cast a messenger patronus to the other team, sending the message to Kingsley in hopes the auror could call in some backup.

"Stay wiz me, zey will not touch you," Fleur said in a fierce voice that sounded almost avian.

"Is it wrong that I find your eyes incredibly sexy right now?" Bill asked as he readied himself for the attack he knew was coming.

"Zen you can show me after we make eet out of zis battle," Fleur purred as she readied her own wand.

"You can count on it," Bill whispered.

Fleur cocked her head to the side, her pupilless eyes staring into his as if searching for something.

"Good, be safe and we shall-

Fleur was cut off as a loud crash sounded nearby, they both turned to look in the direction of the entrance of Knockturn Alley but didn't see anything.

Bill heard the sound of shattering glass seconds before a massive brown werewolf burst out of the front window of Twilfitt and Tattings and charged towards them.

" Oh shit!" Bill exclaimed as he hastily cast the only spell he knew for werewolves.

Bill cast the silver arrow charm, though the wolf easily avoided it as three more werewolves leapt out of the broken window of Twilfitt and Tattings. The first wolf was getting even closer to him and Fleur and Bill began to cast the spell again and again only for the wolf to easily avoid it

Bill was starting to panic when Fleur hurled a ball of blue fire at blistering speed, the werewolf avoided the fireball only to be impaled by a six-foot-long javelin that Fleur had transfigured to burst out of the ground.

"Do not try zat silly spell, use ze transfiguration against zem," Fleur said as four more werewolves came out of Knockturn Alley.

Bill began conjuring spears and sending them at the werewolves but few if any hit their target, the wolves seemed to anticipate their trajectory with ease and nimbly avoided them.

Fleur had more success transfiguring the ground underneath them into quicksand or massive vines that literally dragged unsuspecting werewolves into the ground.

It seemed like they had fought for hours but it was probably closer to ten minutes before Bill heard the sound of apparition and then loud bangs as two wolves dropped dead with gaping holes in the side of their heads. Bill was just about to breathe a sigh of relief when he heard the sound of someone else apparating close by, followed a few seconds later by the sound of offensive spellfire.

Within a minute of this fight breaking out, the sound of dozens of people apparating could be heard as red-robed and black-robed figures appeared behind him and Fleur on both sides of the main street. This was soon followed by the sounds of heavy spellfire. The two groups began engaging in a pitched battle, ignoring the dozens of werewolves pouring into the alley.

This left it up to Bill and Fleur to try and hold back the horde of werewolves still pouring in from the Knockturn Alley. It seemed like for every werewolf they put down, two more ran out of Knockturn Alley.

"We can stop zis many Fleur exclaimed as still more came onto the main street. Most of the werewolves were heading back towards the pub and away from their relentless spellfire from him and Fleur. Now they were starting to come back when they realised that they couldn't pass through the portal into muggle London.

Bill and Fleur were trying to keep them from coming back towards the main battle but they were slowly losing ground as the werewolves were now advancing on them from two directions.

Fleur conjured a wall of flame ten feet high to block them off from Knockturn Alley and the street in front of them. Bill knew it wouldn't hold them back long but this would give them a minute to catch their breath.

"We can't keep this up," Bill gasped out as he quickly drank down a vial of pepper-up potion and offered Fleur one.

"Oui, zey are almost upon us," Fleur panted out before popping the cork out of her vial and knocked it back.

Fleur had just drank down her own vial when Bill saw movement in the corner of his eye and jerked Fleur out of the path of a killing curse from one of the death eaters battling the aurors less than fifty feet away from them.

The second of distraction caused both walls of flame to collapse and half a dozen wolves charged forward.

"Fleur Look out!" Bill screamed as a snow-white-coloured wolf lunged towards her.

'BOOM

BOOM

BOOM

BOOM

BOOM

BOOM

Bill jumped as Mad-Eye fired off six rounds from some shiny-looking piece of metal he held in his right hand, a burst of flame proceeding every deafening blast.

The white wolf was struck by all six silver bullets, two of them hitting it in the face and dropping it to the ground with a dull 'thump.'

"Alright lads, time to put the dogs down!" Moody ordered as a line of aurors opened fire on the largest cluster of werewolves, filling the alley with a cacophony of 'bangs' and flashes of light as the silver bullets made quick work of the werewolves.

Bill and Fleur were forced to move as spellfire started to land around them from death eaters trying to aid the werewolves.

They weren't fast enough and had barely gone ten feet before the street underneath them exploded, hurling Bill through the window of Quality Quidditch Supplies. Bill stumbled to his feet feeling blood flowing freely down the right side of his face as he staggered through the smashed-out window of the quidditch shop.

Bill shakily stepped out of the window onto the cobblestone street when he was forced to dive to avoid another exploding hex that detonated inside the store he'd just left, sending debris flying everywhere. Bill screamed as he was peppered with shrapnel from the explosion and a footlong splinter impaled his right forearm.

"Well well, if it isn't Bill Weasley," A familiar voice cooed from outside of his line of sight.

"Snyde," Bill hissed in a mixture of pain and fury as he tried to get to his feet only to take a bludgeoner to the back slamming him back into the cobblestone.

"The one and only, avada kedavr-

Bill watched in shock as Merula Snyde began the incantation for the killing curse only to be cut off mid-sentence as she was engulfed in a familiar blue flame.

The smell of the girl's flesh being burned filled his nostrils as Merula's blood-curdling screams rent the air before she collapsed, the flame quickly smouldering out when she hit the ground.

"Are you alright, William?" Fleur asked as she came to kneel by his side, ignoring the whimpering death eater lying ten feet away from them.

"T-thanks for rescuing me," Bill gasped.

"Don't worry you will return ze favour, where are you 'urt?" Fleur asked as she looked him over.

"I think my leg is broken and it feels like there is a Christmas tree in my arm," Bill grunted as the sounds of battle began to die down.

Suddenly a bright flash of fire filled the sky and screams of "Retreat" could be heard from people on both sides of the alley.

"Well hold on mon amour, Dumbledore 'as just arrived and ze death eaters are leaving," Fleur assured him as she began running her wand over his leg.

Bill could hear the sounds of dozens of people disapparating around him. It sounded like death eaters were hastily fleeing the area.

Not long after that, the sound of volley after volley of gunfire rang out as all of the aurors began to focus on dealing with the werewolves.

"I am not ready to lose you, William, you will 'ave to be more careful, non?" Fleur said gently as she cast the spell to mend the fracture in his leg.

"Are you two okay?" Kingsley asked as an auror medi-witch came to look over the badly burned death eater laying on the street beside them.

"I'm fine," Bill assured him as he tenderly got to his feet, testing out his newly mended leg.

"I'll 'ave to wait to remove ze splinter until we get to ze 'eadquarters," Fleur explain as she summoned Bill's wand from the wreckage of Quality Quidditch Supplies.

"Margo, will she make it?" Kingsley asked the medi-witch

"She'll survive but she'll be bathing in burn salve," the medi-witch answered.

"Fix her up and get her in a cell," Kingsley ordered.

"Yes sir," The little blonde medi-witch answered as she placed a portkey on the prisoner and the two of them vanished in a flash of blue light

"You had better get him back to headquarters," Shack whispered as soon as the medi-witch portkeyed away with Merula Snyde.

"How bad was it?" Bill asked as he took out a portkey and offered it to Fleur.

"Better than it could have been, we managed to keep them out of the residential part of the alley," Shack answered as the couple touched their portkey.

"Thank god, did we lose anybody?" Bill asked

"I don't know but you two really should clear out," Kingsley warned.

"Alright, good luck cleaning this mess up," Bill chuckled before he activated the portkey with s muttered, "Return."

Bill and Fleur felt the familiar jerk behind their navels as the portkey took them to Grimmauld Place both of them amazed they had survived the battle.

'I think I may pop the question after this,' Bill thought to himself as they appeared in the entrance hall of Grimmauld Place.

AN: I have never actually played the Hogwarts Mystery game, I have it on my phone but it uses too much data and I've been too busy with FFN to bother with it anyway. However, I do have a rough idea of the plot of the game and have started tapping into that game for more characters to use on both sides of the war as it saves a lot of time making up character names.

AN: Question to my readers out there. I once read a Honks story where there was a running joke about Tonks having a cougar patronus, does anyone know which story I'm talking about because I can't remember the name of the story?
