"Noooooooo!"

Star Butterfly begged her parents not to do it, but it seemed it was inevitable – she was going to St. Olga's! After the fiasco with her first hand at magic, what else could there be for her future then to be sent to what was essentially 'prison' for princesses'?

"Now Star..." Her mother, Queen Moon began.

"I don't want to go to Saint Olga's!" Star begged again while on her knees.

Moon sighed before continuing. "I know how... hard it may be to control your magic..."

She grabbed hold of her mother's dress in one last attempt to change her mind. "I can be good! I can do better!"

But the decision was final. "That's why I've decided..."

"Please, no-!"

"To send you to Earth."

"Ah?" Star blinked before she raised an eyebrow. "So... I'm not... g-going to be sent to Saint Olga's School for Wayward Princesses?"

"Of course not dear!" River happily exclaimed.

"Well... at least not yet". Moon sternly said.

"Yay!" Star happily stood back up but still had questions. "But, what's this... Earth?"

River laughed before she put a hand on her daughter's shoulder. "Well, Earth is a... it's a... a place where... uhm... Moon Pie what was Earth again?"

Queen Moon sighed for what was the umpteenth time that day before explaining. "Earth is a dimension were Star can train her magic without causing harm here on Mewni. It's a relativity harmless dimension, so there shouldn't be any issues regarding the matter." Looking to the side, Moon called out to her servant, Manfred, to open the portal that would open the path to Earth.

Looking back at the kingdom, Star glowered as it seemed it'd be awhile before she came back to Mewni. "Stay awesome while I'm gone, okay Mewni?" Star Butterfly was just about to enter a carriage before something... strange happened.

My familiar...!

Star blinked before looking around in confusion at hearing a sudden voice speak inside her mind. "Did... I just...?"

"Come on Moon Pie, we're leaving!" River called out inside the carriage that was driven by two lion-headed griffons.

"Oh, coming Dad!" Boarding the carriage, it began to move into the blue portal that would send Star Butterfly to the planet known as Earth.

One she got there, she'd meet a friend named Marco and they'd have amazing adventures together while fighting the forces of evil!

Or would have if, unbeknownst to Star or her parents, a smaller green portal placed itself in front of the blue one.

Zero's Shining Star

EP 1: Star Comes To... Halkeginia?

Today was the day.

The Familiar Summoning Ritual was a sacred tradition where first years would summon their life-long partner and protector in their magical studies. Whatever was summoned today, would change their lives for either the best... or for the worst in some cases.

Louise was hoping of the former.

"So, Louise... do you really think you can summon anything?" Her long-time rival, Kirche mocked while petting her recently summoned fire salamander. "You're success rate is Zero, so why not just give up now?"

"I don't know..." Louise looked to her wand before glaring at her. "Why don't you mind your own business?"

"Cold..." Kirche smiled. "Nothing a hot flame can't fix."

"Just stop already..." Louise looked down before she heard a call from Professor Colbert. "Ah, looks like it's my turn."

"Sure you don't want to give up now?" Kirche asked one last time before Louise gave her another cold glare.

"Just watch me." Once she reached the area outside, Colbert gave her the go for summoning her familiar. Griping her wand, Louise begged in her mind that her spell would work.

It's now or nothing...

"My familiar that exists somewhere in the universe... no... beyond this universe!" Louise chanted with all that her heart desired. "Oh sacred being that tells many stories, oh beautiful being that swoons all who looks their way, oh strong and powerful being that moves the mightiest of mountains! I plea from the bottom of my heart! Answer my guidance and appear before me! My familiar!"

With one last flick of her wand...

It exploded.

All of the students who were witness to the Zero's exposition went into a coughing fit with all the smoke that spread out.

One couple in particular was not a fan of Louise in the slightest.

"Ugh, a-again with the smoke Zero?!" Montmorency mouthed while her boyfriend Guiche was of the same opinion.

"Quite a show, but not in the good kind!" Guiche coughed before he spotted something in the smoke. "Montmorency, look!"

The blonde scoffed before she blinked at seeing something... shining in the smoke. It was hard to make out, but it also had a shape too if one were close.

Or in this case, Louise herself as she saw two pink hearts shining in the smoke close to her.

What... did I just summon?

"Colbert!" Louise called out to her instructor before he nodded. Casting a gust spell, the smoke was dissipated in a instant and everyone could now see what Louise had summoned... that soon caused alarmed among the students.

"Is that a... noble?!"

"Did the Zero just summon a noble?!"

"Look at the dress, that has to be a noble!"

Louise gasped as she looked at the unconscious girl with long blonde hair that wore a bright blue dress that would be worn by the nobles of higher councils. Alongside her, she had an oddly large chest that was about the girl's size – possibly bigger!

But what solidified the notion of this girl being a noble was the colorful wand she held tight in her hands. Adorned with white wings and a gold star in the base, it looked different from most of the wands she's used to seeing but it was still a wand nonetheless.

Did I... really just summon a noble.

Taking a closer look, Louise bent down to see if she was okay before...

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" The girl screamed with widened eyes.

"Eeep!" Louise yelped before quickly stepping back with a hand to her face.

Jumping up, Star exclaimed in Louise's direction. "What happened! I was here and then there! Who are you?! Is this Earth?! I have soooo, many questions right now!"

Louise winced before she coughed into her hand. "I a-am... sorry... miss...?"

"Star!" Star immediately answered with a smile. "Star Butterfly!"

"Star... Butterfly?" That was a noble name unfamiliar to her. "S-So..."

"This is Earth, isn't it?" Star asked with curiosity as she circle Louise. "This is where I'm supposed to practice my magic and gain better control over it, right?"

"Magic...?" Louise muttered to herself.

So she IS a noble!

Looking at the azure blue sky and great stone pillars that made up the magical academy, Star marveled at her surroundings. "Oh wow, Earth looks so beautiful... it almost reminds me of Mewni now that I look more closely..."

"T-That's-!" Before Louise could answer she heard her classmates interrupt her.

"Louise, what were you thinking, calling a noble with 'Summon Servant?"

"I... I just made a bit of a mistake!" Louise called out that wasn't unheard by Star.

"What are guys talking about?" Star asked the crowd with a hand to her hips. "Nothing out of the ordinary happened as far as I can tell."

"Of course it did... she's Louise the Zero!" Another student said that caused the crowd to start laughing at the both of them.

While Louise looked down, Star was someone who couldn't stand the one thing she despised – bullies.

"Who are you calling a 'Zero'?" Star silently asked with furrowed eyebrows as she gripped her wand.

Before something fierce could take place, Colbert clapped his hands together. "Alright, I think that is enough for today! Students, the ceremony has now concluded! You may go back to your dorms!" With one last scoff, all of the students left back to their dorms before Colbert sighed out loud.

"Mr. Colbert..." Louise spoke before he waved a hand back to her.

"It is alright Louise, though the summoning ceremony may be sacred, this is a matter that is too great to ignore." Looking back at the summon with a smile, Colbert brought his hand for a handshake. "A Miss... Star, correct?

"Oh, yeah, yeah!" Star happily shook the professors hand while being the princess that she was – one who fought monsters, but they didn't know that...

Yet.

"If you don't mind the sudden confusion we all are experiencing, I'd like it if you and Louise were to come with me to see the headmaster."

"Osmond?" Louise said while Star gasped.

"Oh no... am I in trouble?!" Star asked out loud with a panicked breath. "It's only my first day! I can do better! I don't want to go to St. Olga's! Please!"

"P-Please calm down... you're not in trouble."

"Okay!" With a sudden shift in mood, Star was happy and ready to go.

Both Louise and Colbert briefly sighed before the ladder guided the way to the inside of the academy.

"So, that is the situation Mr. Osmond."

Having concluded his report of the events that followed in Louise's summoning, Osmond stroked his beard in thought.

"Hmm, a noble summoned as a familiar... very interesting indeed." Osmond muttered that didn't go unnoticed by Star.

"Princess, actually." Star corrected.

"Star!" Louise glared at the girl for her rudeness. She may be a noble, but it didn't give her the right to treat the principle like that.

"Ah, I'm sorry...!" Star apologized not expecting Earth to be as formal as Mewni. "Forgive my... rudeness s-sir Osmond."

"It is alright, Ms. Butterfly." Osmond waved off before he calmly stroked his beard. "After all, it's not everyday that a human, much less a noble is summoned to become a familiar."

"Okay, I'm sorry but I have to ask... what is a familiar?" Star asked before raised a finger. "Also, I'm not even a human... I'm a mewman."

"Hmm.. well a familiar is one's fateful companion among their magical studies here at this here Magic Academy." Osmond answered.

"Wait... this is a 'magic' academy?" Star asked with widened eyes. "Here? On Earth?!"

"Now hold on Ms. Butterfly... I do not recall any kingdom known as 'Earth', for we are currently resided in the capital of Tristain – one of many kingdoms in the land of Halkeginia."

"Halk... eginia?" Star muttered out loud before raising an eyebrow. "So this isn't... Earth?"

"I'm afraid not... my sincerest apologies, I-"

"That's even BETTER!" Jumping up and down Star was about as excited as when she got her wand. "Who needs Earth when I get to be at a literal magical school?! Yay-heheh!"

Both Osmond and Colbert sweat dropped while Louise couldn't believe how childish Star was acting right now. She looked to be about her age, but seemed to have the attention span of a puppy.

Speaking of puppies...

"This calls for a celebration!" Bringing out her wand, Star pointed at the ground and fired of a pink beam... that created a litter of puppies?!

Louise gasped in complete shock while both Osmond and more importantly Colbert looked fascinated at the spell as the ladder began jotting down notes.

"Simply fascinating Ms. Butterfly... never anything in all of Brimir of magic like this..." Colbert muttered to himself while Osmond laughed.

"What a great show of magical prowess Ms. Butterfly..." Osmond smiled before... they started shooting lasers from their eyes. "O-On second thought..."

"Star!" Louise pushed Star behind Osmond's desk as the laser puppies wandered the room while shooting lasers and being utterly adorable. "Call off the spell before we all get hurt!"

"Sorry... just a little excited!" Star jumped on the desk and started rapidly shooting pink beams at each of the puppies before they were all gone.

"No... I was almost done with my sketch." Colbert muttered to himself after surprisingly not having got hit by any of the puppies lasers.

"What in Brimir was that Star?!" Louise asked with anger present in her voice as she and Osmond stood up to look at Star.

"Oops... just a little excited to be here... hehehe..." Star giggled.

Louise couldn't even believe what she just witnessed. Here she herself had the greatest difficulty in magic, while this idiot could make living murder puppies out of nothing – with no incantation no less! She supposed what she said about not being 'human' was starting to make sense, because nothing in the four elemental powers could do magic like this... not even square class mages could do something like this!

In all this chaos, Louise simply had one question on her mind:

"Who are you?"

Star was happily willing to answer in a sing-song voice:

"I'm a magical princess from another dimension!"

Louise couldn't help but groan on the inside as Star waved her wand forming a rainbow... before it promptly was set ablaze – small tiny animals screaming in panic as they ran away before 'poofing' into nothingness.

Just what the heck did she summon?!

After what felt like an eternity of trying to understand the being known as Star Butterfly, Osmond concluded that Louise should keep a close eye on her. She was Louise's summon after all, even if they never officially made the contract/binding.

Given the choice, Louise absolutely refused to have any sort of relation – let alone completing the ritual with her of all people. Star, in Louise's eyes, was no different then all the others.

Great magic potential – though chaotic at most times.

Likely to be liked by many people.

Always happy all the time.

Those three things were what Louise assumed were what Star Butterfly was the embodiment of.

But despite all that, she was given no choice as the mewman would be staying in her room for the time being, as no other rooms were available.

Just her luck.

"This is your room Louise?" Star happily asked as she looked around before gnawing on her wand in thought.

"Yes...!" Louise huffed as she pulled the large chest that was unassumingly the girls' luggage into her room before letting go before breathing heavily.

"O-kay... I can work with this..." Star held up her wand that while Louise raised an eyebrow.

"Star, what are you talking abou-"

"Sparkle Glitter Bomb Expand!"

Louise ducked under her bed before she heard a crash through the roof. Waiting a few seconds, Louise got up from under her bed and was going to finally give her a piece of her mind!

"Star, just what in Brimir are you...?!" Before she could lash out anymore she looked in awe at the spiral staircase. "What... d-did you-?"

"Come on new friend, let me show you my gigs!" Star happily ran up the spiral stairs before Louise begrudgingly followed.

"What do you mean by-?! Oh my Brimir..."

Not believing her eyes, for the first time in forever Louise was simply speechless.

Somehow, Star Butterfly created a room – her own room that was complete with a queen bed, posters, shelves, small chests, and literally anything else that a sixteen-year old girl would ever need!

"Ah, this is so much better!" Jumping up and down on her bed, Star Butterfly grinned before having realized she missed something. "Oh, I almost forgot! Louise could you stand still with your uniform for a moment?"

"Woah..." Blinking, Louise blushed before she looked away. "G-Go ahead..."

Tapping her chin, it only took her a small moment before mind took in every detail of the uniform into her brain. "Got it!"

"Huh?" Having missed a bright pink light, Louise turned back to find Star wearing an almost perfect copy of her own uniform – except with the one added accessory she wore that was a red headpiece with two small and pointy horns.

"How do I look?" Star happily asked. "Do I look student material?"

"Y-Yeah... sure..." Louise turned around and was about to go down the spiral staircase to get some much needed rest.

"Are you okay, Louise?" Star asked with a bit of worry present in her voice.

Louise was going answer with a simple 'yes' before having just realized something. "You said... I was your f-friend?"

"Of course!" Star answered back with a wave. "I mean, you did bring me here after all!"

"But that was meant for the familiar contract... which is a bit late by this point..." Louise sighed as she leaned against the wall. "You're probably not even supposed to be here, and it was all because of my mistakes..."

"What're you talking about? This is probably the second best thing that's happened to me – first being my magical wand, hehe!"

"This Earth, you were talking about... wasn't that where you were supposed to be? Wouldn't your family be worried... oh no..." Having suddenly realized something else, Louise gasped. If Star was a royal princess, then her parents must've been the king and queen from this foreign 'Mewni' kingdom she comes from. If that was the case...

She had kidnapped a princess.

"Oh dear Brimir..." Louise's eyes widen as she panicked. "No, no, no, no, no! What am I going to do?! T-This is all my fault!"

"Woah, woah, calm down Louise!" Star frowned before getting an idea. "Hey, I got an idea! Why don't I just call Mom, my mom by the way, right now?"

"Call...?" Louise blinked as she saw Star approach a large mirror in the room.

"Mirror, mirror... on the wall..." Star chanted as the mirror sprung to life with foreign magic – once again causing Louise to look on in wonder. "Call Mom."

The mirror's screen and voice soon answered with a foreign tone...

"Calling Tom..."

Star's eyes widened as she panicked – wanting to stop the call with the frantic waves of her hands. "Ohh, woahwoahwoahwoah!"

On the screen, Louise gasped as the demonic figure with three eyes that appeared in the mirror smiled while in the background was nothing but a roaring fire.

"Star...!" The demon said with joy at receiving the call.

Star would, unfortunately, be having none of it. "No... NO!"

"Oh wait... you're here, I'm here, she's here... whoever you are miss-?"

"Don't talk to me..." Louise muttered with a scowl.

"Whatever... so Star-!"

"I said call 'Mom", not 'Tom'!"

Bringing a finger to one of the buttons on the mirror, the demon's face flared in rage...

"No Star... DON'T HANG UP-!"

"Calling Mom..."

"Sorry about that Louise." Star apologized before scoffing. "I really gotta delete him off my mirror..."

"I'm going to have a lot of questions after this is all said and done..." Louise muttered to herself before the screen blared to life with the panicked face of what appeared to be Star's mother.

"Star, are you alright?!" The queen asked with worry as she was in her thrown room. "You were gone by the time we went through the portal, and are very worried!"

"Mom, Mom, I'm okay... see?" Star waved her arms out to prove her point.

"Yes, yes... but now is not the time Star! Send me your dimensional coordinates; there's still time for you get to Earth-!"

"MOM!"

"What?!" Moon Butterfly looked around the room before she spotted a pink-haired girl that was shaking in her uniform. "Oh, I'm so sorry you had to see that dear... this is just..."

"N-No... it's me that should be sorry royal highness...!" Taking a knee, Louise bowed to the supposed 'Queen of Mewni'. "It was my mistake that got her into this mess!"

"Whatever do you mean... miss...?"

"Louise... Louise de la Vallière!" Raising her head Louise spoke with a dignified tone as with any noble would to royalty. "It was my summoning spell that brought her here, so if anyone is to blame it would be me!"

"A summoning spell you say?" Another figure having entered the picture, King River Butterfly marveled at Louise's magic. "My, that is quite the achievement for a girl you're age!"

"What?" That almost sounded like what principle Osmond would say. "But I...!"

"Apologies from me, King River and my dear Queen Moon." River said with a light laugh. "It's that our whole plan on 'training Star on Earth' seemed to take a slight detour when we couldn't find our Honey Pie."

"Yeah Dad, now that you mention it... I heard a weird voice before we left." Star informed her father.

"I see..." Rivers muttered before smiling. "Well, better to let bygones be bygones I suppose. So, as your mother stated sweetie, if you'd be so kind to let us know where you-"

"DAD!"

"What's wrong?" River asked while Moon was also wondering what Star wanted to say at a time like this. "And... what are you wearing?"

"Duh, my magic academy uniform!" Star Butterfly twirled around before hugging Louise – much to the pink-haired nobles' dismay. "I'm gonna train at a magical academy!"

"Who said anything about you being a student here?!" Louise asked before she heard footsteps approaching Star's room from below.

"My, my, what an interesting situation we have ourselves in, yes?" Entering the room, it was none other then Headmaster Osmond and Professor Colbert!

"Not even our mirrors are able to traverse this far..." Colbert muttered while taking down more notes.

"Beg your pardon?" Queen Moon blinked before the Headmaster coughed into his hands.

"I believe it is of my hearing that your daughter is wanting to attend the Tristain Academy of Magic?"

That was when negotiations regarding Star's stay in Halkeginia and the Academy were put into motion as things were about to get a little weird.

* I think Tristain is a pretty great place! *

* That's saying something, 'cuz I've been through outer space! *

* I think it suits me! It's just my style! *

* I think I'm gonna stay a little while! *

* I think that zero is someone you don't know! *

* Blowing up monsters, she will never back down! *

* It gets me thinking I can call this place home! *

As negations were made for Star's stay in Tristain, a lone buff frog spied from a distant tree in the far distance of the forest. Seeing the out of place structure sticking out from the roof of one of the castle's, the creature retreated with a pair of dimensional scissors that created a portal where he soon went into – vanishing without any trace.

There would be lot's to discuss with his Master.
