Chapter 6
"You cannot be anywhere near him!" Yuuji went full parent mode the moment he returned home after sending Kiyoshi back and warning Sukuna. "I know he has been kind to you, but he isn't doing so to be your friend." He tried to make his voice gentle, but his son wasn't having it.
"Dad is a meanie! Sukuna plays with me! You've been too busy to do so!" Kiyoshi protested.
"You're not wrong on that, and I am sorry. But I have to be responsible too, but please, promise me not to go near him again."
His son's arms crossed, he turned his back and refused to speak any farther of the matter. "Kiyoshi, you have to promise me!"
"WHY!" he snapped back. "He scared me once and said he was sorry about it!"
"HE DOESN'T MEAN IT!"
Kiyoshi jumped as Yuuji's voice spiked, he didn't realize it came out as a roar more than a lecture. His son began to tear up and was quick to run from him.
"Damn it…" Yuuji… was at a loss. He doesn't know how to be a father, let alone control his tone. "I need some help with this…"
Yuko was silent throughout the whole thing, in fact, she hid herself as Yuuji tried to talk sense into their child. But even that… He saw her peering at him, almost fearfully. "I'm so sorry… I didn't mean… I don't want him to…" he began to stutter over his own words. "How do I tell him Sukuna is a terrible person without telling him what he did to me? He just turned six!"
Yuko came out from behind the hall she peered from. "Yuuji, even though he is six, it doesn't mean he won't understand what you are trying to say. But I think you should know, he has trouble making friends…"
He paused to the news. "He does?"
She nodded to him, the children here they either have curse energy or heavenly restriction abilities. Kiyoshi is a lot like him, he's a fast and strong child, but nothing compared to those with heavenly restrictions. He has no curse energy so he doesn't try to make friends with the kids there. "I think he is scared to approach them on the matter. At the same time… he's drawn to those who need the most help."
"But Sukuna…" he said bitterly.
"Yuuji, if you have to tell him the truth… then tell him. It maybe the only way he will learn."
Sighing with defeat, Yuuji agreed. Thankfully, thanks to Suiryu's concert coming up, Sukuna wasn't in the domain for a few days. However, it didn't make anything easier for him and Kiyoshi. Each time he tried to approach his son, Kiyoshi ran from him. Even at dinnertime, his child refused to speak with him.
He really must have scared him.
Yuuji grew desperate that he needed advice. Anything at this point!
Late one night, he wondered about. Yet he found a place that appeared to be like a bar. "Did Suiryu make this?" he muttered. Wondering inside, the place was run by Mechamaru robots. Sitting at the bar were Nanami and Geto of all people.
"Itadori? Why are you here?" Nanami asked.
"You are too young to drink," Geto stated, but smirked a little too.
"I need help and advice… I'm a terrible father." He took a seat between them, they sat quite a distance from each other and yet, Yuuji poured his heart out. He explained that Kiyoshi is drawn to Sukuna, Sukuna is acting too nice around Kiyoshi, which means he is after something. "I tried to warn him… but my scolding came out more like a roar than anything. My son won't even speak with me on the matter, he thinks I'm the mean one here…" his head hit the table. "What do I do now?"
"Itadori-kun. You are still young, and being a father is no easy task. You are still learning how, I, for one cannot offer advice like this to you. For I had no children of my own. However, you should speak with him, tell him the truth about what Sukuna has done…"
"Why speak of it, when you can show him."
Yuuji paused, as did Nanami. Geto took a sip of the sake he was drinking. "What do you mean show him?"
"It's just as I said, I do believe Shibuya is still a wreck." He said rather indifferently. "If he gets a better understanding as to what has happened, he may realize you are telling him the truth."
"I am not taking a six year old child to Shibuya!" Yuuji protested. "There has to be another way…"
"It's not like you are going to catch Sukuna in the act now. You believe he is planning something, and knowing him, he will stay true to his plan no matter the pressure." Nanami said aloud. "Itadori-kun, perhaps taking him to Shibuya…"
"That will traumatize him…"
"Better do it now, than to let Sukuna win this game he is playing, right?" Geto chimed.
"How do you have such advice?" Nanami asked.
Geto smirked but then sighed. "I raised two young girls to be sorcerers, they were part of my family… well… Yua calls it a cult… she wasn't wrong on that…" he muttered and took a stronger shot of his drink. "At the same time I understand where Itadori is coming from. You want to protect your family, but children are fickle, especially if they have taken a shine to someone."
Itadori nodded, he sighed aloud to it all. "I just wish there was an easier way…"
"Kid, let me be frank here." Geto said aloud. "In the time I have been brought back. I've seen you go through hell more times than I care to admit. I acknowledge how powerful you really are, and know better now than to mock you for certain… incidents that occur. The new hell you are putting yourself through now, is self inflicted. As much as you don't want to scare your child, it is better to do so now than later when Sukuna gets what he wants out of this."
It was silent.
"I didn't think you would have insight like this, as much as it shames me to say. I have to agree." Nanami said aloud. "As well, you are showing remarkable improvement in your maturity, Itadori-kun."
"Really?"
"Indeed, you didn't go to Satoru."
"BAHAHA! He's right!" laughed Geto. "Oh, I would HATE to know what advice he would have offered you…"
"I've been burned by sensei's words of wisdom too many times…"
"See, he's growing up!" Geto snickered.
"So are you for that matter…" Nanami chimed in.
