Evora decided it would be a good time to stop riding for the day. It was already dark and it had been a long day. She could do with the rest and be left with her thoughts of the days events and plan her next target. She had word of a witch who traded near the Wall, she wanted to go and observe her behaviour and see what she was up to before she would decide whether to make her move or not.
Evora jumped down from her horse and brought the reins over to tie to a nearby tree.
"Woah, Scout. You've done well today, boy" she stroked her faithful companion's silky brown coat and gave him an apple for a treat.
Evora didn't have a home, the road had become her home since she was left alone in the world. With her mission, she felt it was best not to have a permanent home as she was always travelling and to her darker thoughts, she knew one day her revenge would be the death of her. She made sure never to become close to anyone so she wouldn't need to feel the pain of grief again.
Evora gathered some twigs to create a small fire, even though it was Summer she could still do with some heat for when the temperature would drop in the early hours. She nibbled down on her bread and cheese as she looked out at the land before her. Ahead of her in the distance was the market town of Wall, she could see the lights in people's windows as they started to fickler out as the day ended for most.
Then something in the night sky caught her attention, at first she thought her tired eyes were playing tricks on her as the tiny object moved in the sky. Evora's eyes widened as the object got bigger and noted the speed. It was shining so brightly.
"It can't be" whispered Evora as she felt her stomach knot. It was a shooting star.
And most importantly, it looked like it was landing into Stormhold. This would change everything for her, if there was one thing to make the ancient coven come out of hiding, it would be a Star. They would want its heart to keep them young and powerful. She wouldn't let that happen. She couldn't.
"I need to find the Star" she whispered to herself.
