Chapter 7 : Shift

Elsa's P.O.V

I have the time to get out of the way but I haven't been able to let loose in a fight for decades. Besides, it's always fun to see the expression on your opponent's face when they realise that their attack didn't make a single scratch. Soo instead of dodging the attack I burrowed into my power and pulled on the wild strand of endless possibilities within me. With a single tug I pulled the ice up and around me, all the while transforming it into solid steel. Iron might have worked better but unfortunately it is the one substance my magic is immune to.

"Elsa!" I can hear Jack, Bunny and Kiva screaming my name. Pitch begins laughing and starts to taunt the guardians. Perfect. In one swift motion I use my hands, now sharpened at the tip like talons, to cut through the rock and sand.

"You know, you really should make sure the enemy is dead before you claim victory for yourself." I try to act bored and start picking at the dirt under my nails. "I had hoped you'd learnt that from the incident with your lover. Suppose not." It pains me to sully Maya's name. She truly was a great warrior, and a great friend. Yet here I am acting as if her death wasn't a tragic loss. Unfortunately though it is the only way I know of to get him riled up and therefore sloppy in his attacks.

I'm about to create a giant hail storm above Pitch when he says, "I wouldn't do that if I were you." He looks smug. What is he up to?

"Oh, and why not?" I ask sweetly while still preparing my attack. I don't think any of the others are breathing. They are so quiet, I might have gone a bit overboard. Oh well.

"We wouldn't want something to happen to one of your spirit friends now would we?" Says Pitch raising a hand. A whirlwind of black sand swirls behind him. Once the sand disappears I see the four elemental spirits. They look fine to the untrained eye, but I've been watching over them since before I became immortal, so I know when something is wrong. And something is definitely wrong right now.

Merida's P.O.V

Pitch and Elsa are fighting and taking each other blow for blow! How is this possible? I thought for sure she was a goner after his first attack!

Hiccup's P.O.V

Elsa is a general? She fought in a war before North even became a Guardian. On my left Toothless is snarling and growling at Pith, to my right Merida is staring wide-eyed in shock at Elsa. I think I might have to pinch her to remind her to breathe.

Bunny's P.O.V

I always hated it when she got like this. Of course I know it's just another mask she dons to protect herself but it's still terrifying nonetheless.

"We wouldn't want something bad to happen to one of your spirit friends now would we?" Pitch raises his hand and his signature black sand swirls behind him leaving behind a magnificent horse made entirely out of water. All around me the other guardians are gaping at the creature's beauty. So this must be The Nokk? I look back to Elsa and she gives a slight dip of her chin in confirmation to my guess.

"You never were one to play fair." Elsa sighed and started to lower her swords. "What do you want Pitch?"

Pitch started to walk towards Elsa but was stopped by a blast of ice from Jack. Elsa shoots him a quick glare and turns her attention back to Pitch. He is almost right in front of her now. "Elsa, you should know me better than that." Pitch teases Elsa while his black sand encircles the Nokk. Elsa was looking between Pitch and the black sandstorm that is now where the water horse had been. "Tell me where you hid it and I'll let the horse live." Pitch said threateningly.

"I'm afraid that's not possible." Said Elsa gritting her teeth yet she still placed her swords on the ground in front of her.

"Such a pity. You leave me with no other choice." Pitch sighed and clenched his fist. Black sand erupted around Elsa, Pitch and The Nokk. A horse-like groan from inside the black cloud was cut off and Elsa's scream filled the air.

Jack's P.O.V

It was horrible, not knowing what was going on. Even if I did know what was going on none of us would be able to do anything. Pitch had trapped us in ropes made of black sand. Sandy wasn't looking too good. The nightmares must be getting to him.

Elsa's scream tore through me and I strained against my bindings. I had to help her!

The nightmare sand cleared and revealed Elsa hunched over her knees on the ice. The Nokk was nowhere to be seen and Pitch, that bastard, was standing over Elsa with a circular stone. When Elsa saw what Pitch was holding she began to tremble, what was that weird stone? ELsa turned her face away from us and coughed. From the wet raspy sound it was obvious she was coughing up blood.

"So you recognise this?" Pitch said his smile growing when he saw the fear in her eyes as she beheld the stone.

"How? How did you get that? I thought-I thought they were all destroyed." Her voice broke and Pitch tossed the stone collar from one hand to another. A Collar. That's what it was. A stone collar. What had happened to her to make Elsa fear them so much?

"Hmm, how about we have a little story time? Hey Els, I think your 'friends' should know a bit more about their history, don't you?" What was Pitch playing at?

"Long ago, in a kingdom long since burned to ash…" Pitch started his story and Elsa fell limp and just stared in horror at the stone collar dangling from Pith's hand. I couldn't take it. It broke my heart to see Els like this. So vulnerable, so terrified. I struggled to get free and managed to just graze my fingertips across the surface of something hard and rough. My staff!

Elsa's P.O.V

"Long ago, in a Kingdom long since burned to ash, there lived a brave and powerful princess. Her magic drew the attention of all sorts of wicked and wild things, so in a desperate attempt to protect the princess her father decided to seal away most of her magic, leaving her with only a fraction of her power. However because she no longer had that magic power she was vulnerable to attacks, so the father assigned her two older brothers to protect her. All was well in the Kingdom until a creature from another world arrived and sought to obtain the princess' power for himself. In order to do that he would have to destroy the four seals. He brought with him an army made up of all manner of creatures. Of course the more powerful of the creatures had to take human hosts. The other world's king found a way to forge collars of Sunblite stone. The princess' best friend had one such collar around his neck. The demon inside of him ate away at everything he was and took total control of his body. The young princess ,while protecting her injured brother, was forced to decapitate him. It was the only mercy for the hosts. The only way to save them. The young princess raised an army of thieves, assassins, pirates and other species of humanoid creatures that have long ago become extinct. The princess defeated the Demon king from another world and hunted down every last demon prince until they were all gone. The Great Leviathan War came to a close when the princess, general, and my darling sister Elsa killed the last demon prince on the fjord of Arendelle." Pitch's sick and twisted version of my story to open old wounds and cut fresh ones as I met the eyes of Merida, Hiccup, Rapunzel and most of all Jack.

"You're Pitch's sister?" Asks Punzie confused. Why didn't she tell us?

"I knew we couldn't trust you." Accused Merida.

"This can't be true." Says Hiccup trying to make sense of it all.

Jack didn't say anything to me, his attention turned toward the Sunblite collar. I also looked at that wretched collar.

"Oh yes. This. I always wanted to see what this would look like around your pretty little neck." Pitch said with a laugh in his voice. Was this all a big Joke to him? What happened to the brother I used to know?

If I want to escape with my mind intact I need to act now! With a roar I push all my remaining power to shit into my true immortal form. As the shift takes place a massive light erupts out of me.

While Pitch is temporarily blinded I Jump tackle him to the ground and knock him out. I can't bear to kill him even if he has gone evil. The black sand around the guardians disappears and they stumble a few steps.

"Get to the slay!" I order putting all of my dominance into my voice. They all start running back across the frozen dark sea. I pick Pitch up and start running after the others.
