Back in the day, we did this thing where you put a music player on shuffle and wrote a drabble inspired by the song playing just during the time that the song was playing. I've been doing that today as part of my NaNoWriMo getting back into writing lark, and this is one I came up with today.
Most of the stuff I've written for this isn't fanfic, but this one was inspired by Bill and Fleur (although it would also work for Ron and Hermione or Percy and whoever you pair him with at a stretch).
The song playing while I wrote this is by Snow Patrol. It's one of my favourites
Dark Roman Wine
There are only the two of them now, the rest of the world far away. The grass beneath them is soft, the sky above feels like a blanket keeping them warm.
She turns towards him at the same moment that he turns to her. The rest of the world is remote from the here and now. They can forget the war and its legacy, the death of his brother, the pressures of family expectations. They have each other and for this second, this minute, this hour, this night, it is enough.
They kiss and then they lie on their backs next to each other, still holding hands. With their other hands they pick out the stars that they like in the endless sky above them. The sea crashes and the wind is rising, there is the beginning of rain in the air, but they do not feel the cold or the damp. The wine they drank with their supper fizzes in their bloodstream and becomes one with their love, and when they turn to each other, pulling off clothes and finding themselves in each other, it is right and perfect and inevitable, and it feels like forever.
