"And here we go," Mya whispered as she and Tara slowly went down the basement steps, guns pointed down the stairs and Sue and Sunny following a few steps behind. Their eyes adjusting to the darkness, all they could see were shadows. Stopping at the bottom of the stairs to wait for their eyes to fully adjust, their eyes were wide in shock when they finally did.

"Oh my G-" Tara whispered, seeing the dark and dank basement dimly lit by a light in the back of the room. It was filled with dog cages, each one had dirty bedding and who knows what else. They all were empty, except for one.

"Mallory?" Sue worriedly said, seeing a bodily form laying on the dirty sheets, running to the cage to kneel down to see if the girl was alright.

"Mallory, honey, are you OK?" Tara asked, bending down behind Sue.

The girl, startled, crawled to the back of the cage. "Who, who are you?" She asked, her voice shaking.

"We're the FBI. We've come to rescue you." Mya replied with a smile.

Mallory shook her head. "He'll be back. He said if I tried anything, he'd hurt my parents. Bad. And it would be my fault. I don't want to hurt them.

"No, no, honey." Tara reassured. "Your parents are at home, safe. And our teammates are arresting the man now. Everything is OK, we promise you."

"Are you sure?" She suspiciously replied.

Mya nodded. "We are."

"Alright." She quietly replied.

Tara smiled. "Now, do you know where the key to this lock is?" She asked, lifting up the padlock that barred Mallory from exiting the cage.

The girl nodded. "He took it with him."

"Now, that's not helpful." Mya said, standing up and unholstering her gun. "Stand back."

"What do you think you're doing?" Tara yell-whispered, quickly getting up and standing in her way.

"Uh, trying to get the girl free?" She replied, mystified why she was acting up.

"If you shoot that, do you know what that'll do?"

"Make her free?"

Tara glared at her. "That bullet can ricochet and hit one of us, Sunny, or worse, Mallory." She firmly whispered. "We have to find another way."

She shrugged, dejected. "Hey, it was just an idea!" She exclaimed, holstering her gun again.

Sue looked around the dark basement, looking for anything that might help.

"How about this?" She asked, picking up a mallet and showing her friends.

"That'll work!" Tara exclaimed, walking over to her and picking up the heavy tool. Bringing it over to the cage, she lined herself up to the lock, lifted the mallet, then bang! Mya and Mallory shuttered at the loud metallic sound, Sue feeling the vibration of the impact.

Tara bent down to look at her handiwork. Shaking her head, she stood up again. "Looks like I have to do it again. Hold on!" She said, lifting the mallet again. Within seconds, the mallet hit the lock again, and everyone winced a second time. "There!" She happily exclaimed, seeing the broken padlock on the ground. Quickly bending down, she opened the cage and guided the girl out.

"Alright," Mya said as the four of them quickly found the stairs. "Let's get out of here!"

?-?

"The barks are getting closer." Bobby announced out of breath as he and Jack jogged through the woods, trying to manage the unstable terrain.

"Yeah." Jack replied, nodding. "It's a good thing that's his favorite thing to do."

His friend smiled at him. "I thought he was named after you, Sparky?"

He chuckled. "And that."

The barks kept on growing louder and louder until they were so close, Jack stopped and put his finger to his lips. The two then slowly walked forward, seeing glimpses of movement in the far distance. Taking out their guns as they slowly approached, they tried to determine what was going on ahead, but they couldn't get a clear picture since there were too many trees in the way.

As they walked closer, the scene became clearer, causing them to laugh at put away their guns.

"Call him off!" The perp screamed when he saw people coming towards him. Barky had chased him up a tree, and now he was starting to slip as Barky jumped up to try to catch him.

"Well, if we do, you're under arrest." Jack replied, chuckling.

"Anything!" He screamed. "I'll do anything to get out of this!"

"Our pleasure, mate." Bobby replied, walking over to the tree as he took out his handcuffs.

"Come on, Barky. Good boy. We'll get you a treat when we get home, OK?" He asked, the happy dog, who had his tongue out, happily enjoying Jack's praise scratches.

"Alright, come on," Bobby said as he handcuffed the perp and started walking. "Now we can close this case." He said, smiling at his friend as they slowly walked back to the car.

?-?

"Why does she need to do this?" Moria complained. It was the next day and everyone was safe and sound in the Hoover building.

"It's just a formality." Mya assured. "If she does this, no one will question the arrest and most likely she will not have to testify."

"OK," she reluctantly replied.

"Now," Mya said, leaning down to Mallory's level. "You're going to see 5 men. All you have to do is show us the one who kidnapped you, OK?"

The girl bravely nodded. "OK."

Mya nodded, then led the family to the observation room where the lineup was set up. "Can you see good?" She asked, seeing Mallory was standing on tiptoes.

She nodded, then shook her head. "He's not here."

"What do you mean he's not here?" Jack worriedly asked, walking in on them just in time to hear her.

"The man who kidnapped me is not there."

"Are you sure?" Mya asked.

The girl nodded. "The man who kidnapped me had red hair. These guys have black hair."

Mya looked at Jack, exchanging unspoken words. This lineup surely didn't go as planned.
